    Thanks for watching and if you're got any further questions please leave it down in the comments and I'll do my best to reply.

    I assumed you glaze fire them separately. Is there any trick to keep them still the same fit not fired together? The studio I went to always told us to try to fire them together so they don’t shrink at different rate which really limit what I can do with the glaze :(

    • @floriangadsby
      @floriangadsby  Před 3 lety +2

      It is very difficult to assure they fit together if you fire the components separately. One thing to do is to just make the galleries slightly larger that necessary, that way there's wiggle room when you fire them. I use this stuff called Chemico grinding paste (not sponsored but I wish I was), which allows me to grind in the lids to get them to fit perfectly, even if they don't fit at all! I always wax the bases, where the clay meets the kiln shelves. If there were glaze on the bottoms it would fuse to the kiln shelves. I also wax the gallery of the pot, so where the clay bodies meet where the lid sits upon the jar. As again, if they were glazed in their entirety they'd just stick together.
