    Civic owner here- So what happened was the CVT didn't actually overheated but instead I failed to open the valve on the exhaust on the second run which causes the exhaust to throw smoke when I reopened it and we thought something was wrong with the turbo seal or was running lean, that's why we didn't do anymore runs, also I keep seeing people saying that the cvt won't last the cvt is trash, but I've done TONS of race's with this car literally tons and surprising even for me the transmission is holding up well, also another thing alot of people don't know is that this is the civic touring sedan and it has the SI motor with stronger internals, the civic hatchbacks have weaker internals than the sedan touring which is very weird but it's true, you can check civicx for more info on it. So maybe that's why mines still holding up, oh one last thing depending on how you play with the throttle the cvt can be faster or slower. You need to play with it enough to figure it out. And the car keeps surprising me too. Anyway that's all for now, if you wanna know more just hit me up on IG. ✌

      I've heard about this touring sedan having stronger internals but I doubt it before but I guess it's true since most of the cvt that blown are hatchbacks...as to why honda would do this puzzles me

      @googlewolly Před 3 lety +19

      Great car, man. I believe that I heard that you have a 27Won turbo. That true? Also, what other mods (other than the tune)? Anyway, anyone who claims that the Civic's CVT is trash is a clown who lacks knowledge. They're holding on to the outdated notion that CVTs are bad. Nissan had terrible CVTs (and may still). However, Honda and Toyota make some of the world's most reliable cars, and they have been using quality CVTs for quite some time.

    • @googlewolly
      @googlewolly Před 3 lety +1

      @@josevince2424 I did hear that - at least in reference to the rods. However, sounds like OP is stating that there may be more components that are weaker in the hatch. If you don't want to mod heavily, I wouldn't be concerned. However, if you do, maybe consider a coupe or sedan.

    The only downside of cvt in a proper drag race is the sluggish start, but as I tested in beamng drive, cvt yields better mid high speed acceleration and ended up with higher speed in a quarter mile.

    Excuse my ignorance, but is this basically a modified Civic vs a stock Accord? Not sure what this justifies... It's one thing to compare both stock models, but then I suppose the Accord would win too easily? I feel like the Accord should have been slightly modified as well since it was clearly heavier and less HP, you could probably see the result coming right from the opening specs.

    How much did it cost to get 300 BHP out of the 1.5 liter? Also factor in the cost of a new CVT, because that one is going to be slipping within a couple years if driven hard with that much increased torque.
