- Here's some messing around with a Korg nanopad and the brilliant (free) DVS saxophone vst. The sketchy jazz loop uses Stormdrum, Pianoteq, Lounge lizard and Hypersonic 2's acoustic bass XXL. I hope this helps you to find creative use for your nanopad! :)

Ok, mind blown! Bravo. I can see how to 'attack' playing sax and now flute, clarinet, etc. with this controller.
Oh, man, this one is so inspiring! Thank you, I definetely will try this pad to play at least something close to what you've done here
Thanks friend :)
This is crazy cool! Awesome demo and inspiration with studio tools to be had.....
Amazing I feel like getting one now
Brilliant, I love my Nanopad 2, but hey your playing is amazing!
Thanks!! :)
This video doesn't have the views that it deserves. Sooooo cool!
very well performed, dude...and that with a freeware sampleset!
Such great embouchure
made this flute & sax player laugh!
Damn that's smooooth..
You should put up more of this!!
Dope!
I love the sax and am about to buy the nanoPad2. How can it sound like that ?! Fantastic! 👏👏👏🙏
Hahaha awesome man!
I am getting one of these soon. But I don't think I will play it as good as you do lol
lol thanks :D It's a pretty easy thing to grasp actually. I'm sure you'll get good!
Nice sound. I cant tell if you are creating more vibrato with your fingers or if that is the sound you sampled.
tell me please. what program did you play this with? what sequencer? is that a phone? OR A COMPUTER?
Hi! This video made me pull the trigger on one those bad boys, could you please explain how you got this mapping? It sounds so great I can’t get enough!
Thanks! Let's see... It's been over ten years but I think there's a control software you can download from korg's site. I used that to map the pads to the right scale. After that I just used it like any midi controller to play a synth inside a DAW. Does this help?
@@pestianK Sure does, thank you! And thanks for replying after such a long time, haha
@@solarek18 happy to help!
Are you doing anything special with the xy controller? Amazing video!
Sorry for the late reply. I think I had the other axis working as a pitch bend.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
hi sir iam inspiring this vedio ,alredy iam using a nanopad2 then how can i play this perfomence in nano pad please tell me total daw mapping in a short video please
As someone who can't play guitar or piano (but looking to buy this as both my first midi and introduction into making beats with hardware) I'm finding this very interesting and wondering how the mapping of keys and the strings of a guitar correlate? He's holding and seemingly playing it like a guitar so I want to think there's a hidden cheat code somewhere
Hi! the midi controller I'm using there comes with a software that allows you to map the controller pads to any notes you choose. But it's nothing like playing a guitar really, as you don't need to strum or pick, you just press a pad and a note plays.
Bruh crazy. How do I fix latency? Whatdaw is that?
how???
very cool. how do you assign note to the trigger pad?
I think the pads send out midi notes by default. But the nano series comes with the korg KONTROL editor, that allows you to re-write the scene set completely. You can have the pads send either CC# or notes. :)
Is this amazing talent also included with the pad?
Haha :D I'm afraid it's sold separately.
fabulous, can we arrange a scale on it so that kids can play..
sorry for a late reply here. Sure you can! If you're using ableton live there's a stock midi effect called "Scale." Other option is to edit the pads' midi output in the korg nanokontrol editing software.
Does nanoPad have the midi aftertouch?
I just started making beats on GarageBand but I’m getting this decent HP and I seen these go for around 40$ does anyone know of any good softwares that will work with this perfectly or decently?
If you're into beatmaking, then propably Ableton Live or FL Studio would suit your needs best. There's a Lite version of Live, which is pretty affordable and will be more than enough to get you started.
Which software is it. Whats the vst name that you using
I dont know but look for sax brothers, they are scary good
The sax is DVS Saxophone. It's free.
qual programa esta usando ?
I think FL Studio back then.
What parameters do you have the XY pad mapped to?
nice solo btw!
@@elijah9146 Thanks buddy! This was a long time ago, but I think the x-axis is mapped to pitch bend and y isn't mapped to anything.
thanks for the video!
can you connect the nanopad to Windows / Android as well? I don't own any Mac or iphone. Thank you in advance :D
Thanks :) Sure you can connect to windows, it's actually connected to a windows pc in this video. Not sure about android.
@@pestianK thanks so much for your reply! I will get one and learn how to use it. It'd be great to be able to play like you do , so cool!
Is it velocity sensitive?
Yes it is
This is the old model too... bought it like almost ten years ago. I'm sure there's a more recent model that's better in many ways.
@@pestianK the nanopad 2 has 4 extra pads and the overall build quality of the nanopad2 is better + some improvements with the sensitivity.
i bought a nanopad 1 after I saw your video, I like the variety of ways this thing can be played with
thanks!
p.s: do you have problems connecting it to a windows pc/laptop? mine doesn't get recognized if I don't plug it as soon windows finished booting up. if 10mins passes without plugin it in, it won't work :V
@@jeromnicoara Sorry to hear that. That sounds annoying. I can't say that I would have experienced a similar problem. I'm running osx, and frankly seldom use the nanopad these days anyway.
Hello, I asked a question about your old video with a saxophone, nano pad 2.
follow this link ( czcams.com/video/_zHXlqQgXss/video.html )
but there is no answer there, only because of your video I bought exactly the same nano pad 2.
maybe on this page you will see my question faster?
it is very difficult to understand
its settings, please tell me what you used? phone number? or a computer?, and which program is the sequencer? besides that- a dvs saxophone. it's easy to find him- but he doesn't work anywhere.
what program? which sequencer?
I will be very grateful for the answer.
Hi. Glad to hear you liked the video. I can probably help you, but I need to know what level of unerstanding you have about music software and hardware. Do you have any prior experience in DAWs, VSTs or midi controllers?
@@pestianK thank you so much for answering! I am at a very low level in understanding all technological processes. midi and so on .... there is only a musical education in the piano class. by now, by trial and error, at random, I managed to install vst saxophone on my computer in Reaper. defeat the midi delay using the ASIO driver. I can throw off the video) .... ..of course there are many questions. and it would be cool to be able to ask them from someone who understands all this! thank you!
I really love this kind of technology, its fascinating! But theres also a downside to it for me as well.... Its crazy cool, but for me the charm of the instrument goes away if its digitalized. Seeing someone actually playing a heavy saxophone in the traditional way is something I like to WATCH more, and I think that is also a big part of a performance!
