You mention the string section as a minimum, but can it be just that ? Just a string orchestra with some solo strings? If yes, I'm super interested to compose for that ensemble for the competition!

@@saadhaddadmusic maybe how you would plan and organize content.. I feel like I get overwhelmed trying to figure out several instruments at a time. the most ive written for is just under 10 instruments, so I feel like there's a mental barrier in trying to write for more?
I have Noteperformer 3 and considered that it was a definite step up from other plug in sounds for Finale. I use it for proofreading all the time. Is Note Performer 4 much better? I guess I should upgrade.
Getting solo string playback is still a huge challenge for a guy like me, who composers primarily for string quartet, piano trio, etc. As far as I can tell, there isn't any playback engine that really gives you good solo strings.
There is a free trial of 4 available - I’m not aware of any great solo string sounds either :/

Could you elabrate more on what you mean by professionally performed?
If your piece was read or performed by an orchestra that is paid to perform music, then it doesn’t qualify.

Hey Saad, first of all thanks for the opportunity! I'd love to participate, the only piece I wrote for orchestra was for 5 violins, 4 violas, 3 cellos and 2 basses, each of them having their own written part as if they were all solo instruments (so 14 parts in total). I'm not sure if that would be an elegible score for the contest... What do you think, would I still be able to participate with that piece?
