I just celebrated my 71st birthday. Even though my body has been very occupied with autoimmune conditions since 1991, my brain is healthier and busier than ever. After scratching rhymes, and occasionally publishing and winning an award or two since I was 9, I have --- finally! --- arrived as a poet. It's the best feeling in the world! You're never too old to be bravely creative.

I will be 65 in 28 days. It irritates me I wasn’t educated about HRT as I was going through menopause. I should have been taking estrogen or something to help my symptoms back in the day. I work full time and take care of my mother who has been do with dementia. I have durable power of attorney and an advance directive. My stress level is extremely high. I am now sharing this information with my adult children. Thank you

Thanks so much for covering this topic! I learned a lot. I started doing keto at age 62. I lost 50 lbs. Getting rid of sugar, seed oils, all grains, high carb foods, and processed foods, and adding in high quality fats and increased protein has been remarkable for my health. It is an anti-inflammatory diet. I no longer have all of the aches and pains that I had when eating the SAD diet. Many of my health markers improved significantly, including no more brain fog, increased energy and libido, improved vision, and more. I've heard, from many of the keto doctors I follow here on CZcams, that older brains do really well on increased ketones for fuel. I walk 45+ minutes at a brisk pace, 5-6 days a week, and do resistance work 1-2 days but plan on increasing the weight training. Now at 65, I feel as good as I did when I was in my 30-40s. Intermittent fasting is also an important part of this lifestyle. It promotes autophagy. I wish I'd known about keto when I was going through menopause.. I think it would have been very beneficial in dealing with the symptoms.

Thanks for all the time and energy you put into these videos. I’m 62, 2 years widowed, and always looking for how to improve my brain health. I truly believe my brain is different (and not in a good way🙃) after loss and grief. If I could get that good REM sleep I believe I could heal more. Thanks so much.

I appreciate you and your talks so much. I found you because I was concerned about my mother, who is suffering from cognitive deficiencies. As a result, however, I am adjusting my own health and behavior because of the things I’m learning. Thank you for offering this advice and guidance.

What about HRT and women who have maternal family history of breast cancer? My father had Alzheimer’s and my brain at 71 certainly isn’t what it used to be. I’m a little freaked out about getting Alzheimer’s!
I really like your talks! Thank You!

Thank you Dr Karen Sullivan.. I was born male I have always wanted to be a male. However, I am gay.. born in 1955, this whole ball of Wax, which is me,, has always been searching for normal and average.. elusive as hope, love, peace, and comfort,, I will continue.. all female issues have always been important to me and affected me just as The Human Condition affects us all.. I will always wish and pray for understanding with knowledge as acceptance; my desires may never be sated.. try as I might,, I am exhausting

I have a European trained doctor who provides me compounded estrogen and progesterone. She says I can be on it into my 70s or longer. I'm 63 and thriving. I am taking cognitive improvement classes to improve my brain function through exercise like strength training for the body. I have had seizures in my past and one recently from medication change that affected my memory and word recall. It's not really come back completely 6 months later.

The handouts would be beneficial especially the foods that are best for brain health and gut health! Olive oil, nuts,, seeds, fruit, vegetables, legumes, fish, low carbs, moderation, in every thing we love to eat! Then, what is gut health? What crosses the blood/brain barrier? So much to learn after 65!

I recently was denied concussion treatment by Inova neuropsychologist at inova sports medicine. This is the same org that treats the Washington commandos and the Washington national baseball team. I was told to come back when I know longer had blurry vision and pain. Yes indeed. The office manager Kate actually td me I was the first person in their decade old practice that combined if these symptoms. I was screened in a tiny closet sized room with no natural light and super bright artificial light and was told to take off my eye glasses Wich made my vision even blurrier. Yes indeedy. I called over 16 other clinics they all were aghast at my Inova experience. Every doc I spoke to was aghast of my experience.😖😖😖😖😖😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃 Not my circus Not my monkeys. Won't set foot there ever again

Formal academic education or lack of has absolutely no bearing on intelligence or common sense. I no folks with no so called education who are genius IQ that had decline that was not shown in testing because they were noted as not having an education. I never ever answer my educational le El to any medical questionable. It's so subjective it's irrelavant
