Rule 10: THE TRANSFORMATIONAL POWER OF ACCEPTANCE. Approach acceptance with the same tenacity as other aspects of recovery. Fighting what is has its place in stroke recovery. The tough determination you need to push through an intense therapy session will benefit you, no doubt, but there is also a place for acceptance at various points in your recovery. If you approach acceptance with the same tenacity that you approach other aspects of your recovery, it can have a truly transformational effect.

I felt like, well she is the doctor BUT I really wasn’t ever convinced about her diagnosis due to several things as I have trouble with word finding but not with much else. I am 73. Thank you so much for your presentation!! I am going to research this further until I am satisfied it’s a true diagnosis.

This medication made me feel as if I was having an out of body experience. Like I wasn’t in full control, as if I could see myself on a screen, very awkward, not a good feeling at all. I had back surgery in 2017. My Anesthesiologist gave me two Gabapentin pre-OP. I begged him, No. please! And he made me take it. I turned out ok, but I was out of it post op. And I blame the meds compounded with general anesthesia. I typically tolerate anesthesia fine. Just sleepy, as expected. I know it helps others, but not for me.

8:40 You really need to be more careful with your words. "Quite a few of you wrote me questions on my Facebook page asking about this DRUG WHICH I absolutely love...." Do you realize that, in your sentence, the word WHICH refers to the word DRUG!? We know that you MUST have meant that it's the QUESTIONS that you ABSOLUTELY LOVE and not GABAPENTIN. However, what you said means that it's the DRUG GABAPENTIN that you ABSOLUTELY LOVE. So, you're right when you say: 24:08.

I was diagnosed gabapentin when told I have RSD/CRPS. Taking it at bedtime only for getting deep sleep while going thru pain blocks & OT. My goal is once the nerve pain is resolved to stop taking it because of the side effects, especially the brain fog. Back in 2014 it was very difficult to get more than a weeks script much less a refill. I'm elderly now and surprisingly diagnosed 120 pills. WOW!

Two of them we are convinced happened this year as they were in my basal ganglia as symptoms you mentioned have been happening since. Next week I’m getting a CTA and a 2D Doppler to see if my throasic outlet caused them (it caused the first three) my nuero vascular think it is highly unlikely that the 2nd two would cause such alarming symptoms because it’s almost impossible. Well I am the definition of rare.

Hospitals need protocol for some type of prevention. They knew my mom had a UTI and didn't treat it. I watched the delirium onset and told the nurses and the doctor. They wouldn't give her an antibiotic. She went 6 days without it. She's in a nursing home right now. They discharged her with an active UTI, severe constipation, dehydration and delirium. They also took her off a med that should never be just stopped. So withdrawal from that too. It's a disgrace.

My Dear, Not to upset you but I must say you have put out some bad information to your listeners. I could point out many areas of contention but I will mention only two. You didn't mention the elimination of sugar in the diet and you apparently don't understand realitive risk versus absolute risk in regards to statins. May I suggest that before you put out any more videos on this subject that you join cardiologist Dr. William Davis Inner Circle group and truly learn how to address atherosclerosis. Ask yourself the question, can statins halt or reverse calcium growth? The short answer is, no.

Gabapentin? I think it hurts me more than it helps me? Slow cognitive processing, memory problems, fatigue, reduced balance and stability, and my neuropathy seems worse - not better! And it was prescribed for my diabetic neuropathy! I’ll make an appointment to discuss with my doctor but some doctors are so ego-involved with their prescribed regimen that take offense! One doctor said to me, “Well, that’s all I do so if you aren’t going to take a statin (after I sincerely tried 3 different statins) then there’s not much I can do for you!”

Gabapentin was prescribed to my cat due to leg pain issues. How does it affect animals? Is it the same as humans. Both have helped me tremendously and have minimized my pain levels.

I hate that I am stuck on gabapentin for the rest of my life because of peripheral neuropathy in my feet. However, Lyrica almost killed me! Not kidding either, the negative self talk and suicide idealization was off the charts!!! I was intent on unaliving myself on lyrica!! I called my dr immedicalty and said oh this is evil, get me off this now!!! So back to gabapentin. I would sell my soul to not be in pain all day every day but refuse to take opiods of any kind. There is nothing on the market that helps with the nerve pain in my feet. I have lost interest in just about everything. I do nothing after work or on the weekends because I am too tired and/or in too much pain. At one point, I was was taking up to 2400 mg a day. It took me more than a week but I slowly stopped taking that high dosage. Today, I only take a total of 400 a day. I live in constant pain but I can function. But just barely, thankfully I work from home and that makes managing my pain easier. Gabapentin is a controlled med in Michigan so those days when I have more pain than normal or significant pain in my feet, I have to suck it up as I cannot take anymore since I can only take what is on the label regardless of whether or not the pain is intense and an extra pill is needed, I am screwed and have suffer.
