  • In this presentation, David Hillson outlines where risk culture comes from, what a good risk culture looks like, and how we can develop and improve our risk culture through applied emotional literacy.
This presentation was provided for the KNPC ERM Community in Kuwait on 22 February 2022. (The date 22022022 is very unusual!!)

Thank you Menaf, I'm glad you liked this video.
(I'm not sure why you include the comment about Prof Malcolm Anderson and the World Bank - perhaps this was an error?)

Hi Sir, I'm a postgraduate student studying MSc in project management. I'm really interested to do my dissertation in risk management but i couldn't get a topic. I thought of considering the Grenfell tower incident in the UK. How could I connect it to risk management and arrive at a topic for my dissertation. Could u please give me your suggestion sir. Also I only have started my masters studies this January. It would be of great help if u could suggest me something.

Hi Anisha. This is an interesting topic for a dissertation, although it may be too complex for masters level. There are many overlapping risks that gave rise to the Grenfell disaster, and these are being addressed by the formal enquiry as well as lots of academic studies. Also the focus seems to be on safety risk, rather than project risk.
One angle that you might consider is to look at the process of running the enquiry. Treat the enquiry as a project. Clarify its objectives, then identify what risks might affect the ability of the enquiry to reach useful conclusions that can help prevent a recurrence of a Grenfell-type incident.
I hope this is helpful, and I wish you success in your studies.
