- These daily vlog posts are trial and error attempts to learn how to video b-roll better and tell a story both visually as well as verbally. I am using only the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the PYGTech Mantispod Z at the moment. No extra lighting. No tripods. No microphones. Eventually, I will add some other equipment. Right now, however, the focus is on getting the video and learning how to entertwine it together in editing to create a more compelling story.

The fact that you take other people’s feelings into consideration when filming your videos earns my respect for you. I look forward to your video every morning while drinking my first cup of coffee. Chattanooga looks like an interesting city. Being there early in the morning before filling up with people would be my favorite time. 😊

Hi, Tim! Is there a bad time for coffee? I don't think so! Coffee shops always have an interesting look and feel. There was a coffee shop in the old part of East Dallas, Texas, where I grew up, that I will never forget. It was called Brownie's. It opened, I think, in 1945. So it was well seasoned when I came along. The building is still there on East Grand, but it's now a taco place. My memory of it was that it was dark, moody and intimate. I loved that place and remember being so happy when a family member would take me there for a treat. The place was small, with booths and a long counter and each booth had it's own mini juke box. I can still hear Elvis singing, "Love Me Tender" quietly at the table...ah, the memories. Thanks for helping me think about Brownie's. I hope everyone has a lovely day chewing on a few happy thoughts.

Great video! I can definitely relate to a certain vibe of somewhere. There’s a coffee shop/barber in downtown Indianapolis where I can really feel the vibe that’s part of that area. My husband gets a haircut and beard trim and I get to enjoy a crafted coffee and an hour to read, do a bit of people watching, discreetly, of course, or daydream. I love seeing the inside of coffee shops especially when there are very few people. I really enjoyed seeing the architecture and the character of the area along with those vibrant orange tables and chairs! I’m glad you have good memories associated with this special place.

Sometimes the things that don’t work out according to plan, turn out best! I’d say this is a great example of that. I get that the coffee shop has its special vibe - looks like (based on your video) Old Town as a whole, does too. I felt like your recordings of the area, building ruins, graffiti art, quick look inside of the coffee shop/people/hum of conversations captured the essence of the area. We have a similar Old Town and it’s a vibe for sure. Love it there.

Great video Tim. Reminds me of downtown St Charles Mo. There is a coffe shop and many shops to visit. I used to live in that area for most of my life. I go there once n awhile. I have family there. Now I am in SE MO. Thanks

I wonder if there is a coffee air freshener out there someplace. My great grandparents (old country Swedes) had a hand cranked coffee grinder as did my grandparents and their homes always smelled like coffee so coffee shops always seem to have a calming effect on me...even with the caffeine. Hope the retirement/graduation get together went well, retirement is a kind of a graduation into a new stage of life.
