As a Singaporean, I’m grateful that I’m being brought up in Singapore and I will never consider another place to call home. From security to economic reason, we are strong and definitely more honest than the others. Our multi racial society often was taken for granted. End of the day, it’s everyone’s choice to go where they want to.

This is a world with multiple realities, don't just live in one and expect everyone to live in the same one as you. I wouldn't say this is at all confusing and misleading, because... I use my head to think. Having the privilege to travel should instead allow us to contemplate an issue more deeply, not narrowly.

My mum is a local singaporean chinese and my dad held a Thai citizenship but his parents ( my grandparents) were from Fujian who had migrated to Thailand during the war. I took after my dad's Thai surname, and after he changed his citizenship and converted to chinese surname, all my siblings followed after his Chinese surname, i am the only one left in the family with a different surname. On top of that my race is categorised as others. When i i argue that i am chinese they would said but your dad's document is Thai so i have to be a Thai. Next time they tell you 'No you're a Thai' reply 'Exactly, thats what I am, what's wrong with that?' 😊 'Thai with a pink IC. Something wrong?' Don't deny your own background/heritage, it's not a blessing to be integrated as part of local Singaporeans Chinese culture either. As a Thai, you've got your own autonomy

Animals living in herds tend to only accept their own kinds, mostly, in similar forms or physical appearances and reject those who show differences as their enemies. Sadly, we are not too far from this natural animal instinct, even in singapore. After confirming their suspicion of your 'origin', they will often keep a polite silence if you claim to belong here.

Australia used to be less hostile country to Asians. But with the election of the LIberal Party and coalition to govt that is good in sucking up to the US against China, their policies and media especially Murdoch owned took on a more racist and confrontational tone against China. Unfortunately, other Asians become collateral damage and to racists emboldened by this toxic atmosphere in down under, anyone not white is game for attack and abuse even if one is an Australian citizen. It doesn't help Australian laws on racism are less stringent than in Singapore and many could just get away with just a slap on the wrist.

Her gripe is not with Thailand, which she did not come from... she just has a Thai surname!
We need to get our facts right before we comment.
Do we have racism in Singapore? Yes!
What we don't have in Singapore is tolerance of racism expressed openly and with ill intent.
