Me too! Some folks have slated him relentlessly for being an asshole and charging for photos and autographs etc. I don’t see that in him at all, if anything, he seems very genuine and sensitive. People with hearing loss can react differently, so it might be he finds it very hard in public and gets overwhelmed! I find this to be the case with me. I have had sensorineural deafness in both ears since I was born.

@@Rache28 I mean he does charge for everything but that is to be expected from celebrities that meet people regularly. He seems like a good guy but when you go to conventions a lot like he does it kinda turns into a job.

I had ear infections as an infant, (both of my parents smoked) . I had my tonsils taken out at age 5, then shortly afterward I got the measles. So I have been deaf in one ear since 1960. Because of my hearing issues, I suffered from speech impediments. Luckily my school system offered speech therapy and took it until grade 11. Then in my mid-thirties, I developed tinnitus. I been wavering about implementation for years. Seeing Lou getting an implant at his age gives me hope and confirms my desire to go ahead and see if I can get help. Thank you, Lou!
I am 51. I just got mine in July. I had profound hearing loss in my left ear. I had gotten so used to earing out of just the right ear I didn't know my left was that bad. I now have 80% recognition in my left ear and it's still a ways to go before that "weird" tone normalizes but it is far better even with it. Another gain is stereo location is getting better. I have to relearn, again, because I was so used to only right ear function.
Wishing Lou the best with his new hearing. It’s a game changer. I’m 4 months post activation in my left ear and it seems like every day I hear something new.
19 yrs bilateral cochlear implant surgery. My activation was pretty much like his. It was a lot of work but did get better and better from no speech first day to using a phone a few months later. Not perfect but better than I've had in over 40 years. Happy for you. I love CI moments (hearing sounds for the first time in years and figuring them out.) I think he is going to do great.
I can only imagine the experience of music as your hearing improves
His pronunciations of f sound & s sounds has already noticeably improved since the procedure.

As someone who has had hearing loss since the early 1990's when I was barely 30 I can relate.
I had noticeable loss after a metal concert when I didn't use any hearing protection, it's nothing crazy serious but I was definitely not hearing as well when I went back to work. So I'll certainly be wearing earplugs at any concerts in the future
He had that loss since the early 50's when he was a little child
I too was born with sensorineural deafness. It’s genetic, but I consider myself very lucky. I haven’t suffered to the extent Lou has, God love him! My hearing loss is mainly high frequency and some mid-frequencies. They reckon I was born like that. Apparently my cochlear is twisted abnormally and whilst it picks up the sound; the messages going back and forth are scrambled! They suspected a problem in school when I was about 7; but I did not get my first hearing aid until I was 16! The health service in Northern Ireland at the time was crap!
Lou, you are already a great man and the hearing is a little bonus for you.

I absolutely love Lou Ferrigno, he is my Hulk. He contributed so much to the body building community, and has done wonderful things for others. It is great to see him having his life improved. I hope it gets better and better.
I liked watching Lou on the stage the pride never was lifted above his friendly spirit .

There's definitely some good parts about living in the 50s-60s-70s-80s but on the downside a guy like him goes most of his life waiting for technology like this to be invented, but I'm happy for him to get to experience better hearing. I had ear infections a couple of times to the point that it made my ear clogged enough that I couldn't hear and it was a scary feeling, luckily though when it reached that point it clears up for me in 2-3 days. I haven't had an ear infection for a while but I got them every couple months for a year or two, when I grew my hair out longer I would get water in my ears sometimes which usually caused the infection but I've adjusted to tilt my head accordingly to keep water from getting in my ear. I keep amoxicillin handy now just incase it does happen again so I can clear up the infection before it gets to that point

I'm using hearing aids about 6 years now. I know how emotional it is, when get back hearing. I hope, someday there can be transplantation of ears like a heart transplantation today.

I have zero hearing in my left ear. I tried adapting to single sided hearing, but find it harder than I imagined. I am looking into getting a cochlear implant. Thanks for the information. I am 73 .

I got his autograph when I was a kid when he was in character I think we got the Long Beach Pike he was all in green his autograph was his thumbprint. Just his thumbprint LOL
