- A video tutorial on how to remove and replace the cabin air filter on a 2017 - 2020 Nissan Rogue.
WHAT IS THE CABIN AIR FILTER ON YOUR NISSAN ROGUE?
Cabin air filters, also know as A/C air filter, help enhance the air quality inside your vehicle creating a healthier, more comfortable environment for you and your passengers. A properly functioning cabin air filter, or ac air filter, can stop up to 90% of dust, pollen, and spore particles from entering the Nissan Rogue passenger compartment location.
WHEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE THE CABIN AIR FILTER ON YOUR NISSAN ROGUE?
It is recommended that you replace your cabin air filter every 10,000 - 15,000 miles or once a year. However, you may want to replace or change the cabin filter in you Rogue more often if:
-You or a frequent passenger suffers from allergies or has other respiratory problems
-You drive your Rogue on dirt roads or in an excessively dusty location
WHERE IS THE CABIN FILTER ON YOUR NISSAN ROGUE?
The cabin filter is located underneath the dash. The cabin filter door will have to be removed in order to access the cabin air filter.
This video tutorial can be used to help find the location of as well as remove, change or replace the cabin AC air filter on the following Nissan Models:
2017 Nissan Rogue

My local Nissan dealership wanted $85 to perform this maintenance. Insane considering I just ordered a filter off Amazon for $11 and this video reveals it will take me a couple of minutes to complete the work. Thank you for this tutorial!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Omg same here.. was getting a oil change and they realized my filter needed replacing .. they wanted 50 bucks!
Wanted $79 at my dealership.
Same! The daler wants to charge me about 80 bucks for this simple work 😂
You have to change your transmission fluid quite often too and that's expensive. if you can't do it yourself
One handed... some talent right there
sometimes that's the only way to film it lol
Thanks. Dealership wanted $125 for this extremely simple procedure! They said.... "We're not changing a lightbulb, it's in a hard-to-reach area."🤣🤣🤣
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Lmaoooo yeah so hard 🙄 crooks 🤣🤣
🤦🏻♀️
Thank you for this!! Nissan designed this with Olympic Gymnast or Contortionists in mind.
But after this, only 20 minutes tops it took me to change mine. I did break one of the pull tabs off, but that was already weakened by whoever changed it last.
Thank you!! Saved me almost $200 my dealership wanted to charge me to change mine.
You're welcome! Glad it helped
Thanks for helping a lady change her own filter.
Happy to help!
Very clear .nice speaking .no torture music .we seem to be in a classroom with a valuable teacher .thanks !
Thanks!
I have an 2017 Nissan rogue sv & felt that this was the easiest video to follow. My dealership wanted $80 for this to be done but I bought a new filter off Amazon for $10 and changed it out in under 5 minutes.
Glad it helped!
The squishing down on the new filter was the piece I was missing. I would have never thought of that. Thank you for the video.
You’re welcome! Yeah its a bit tight getting the new filter in
Your video is spot on! I have a 2019 Rogue Sport and it took me about 10 minutes. Easy and satisfying.
Great! Glad it helped
I have the same model! By chance do you know the size filter you used? Ideally I'd like to get it before I take this one out to replace it
Thank you! I was able to do this myself with the help of your video. Didn't have to bug my husband 😁
You're Welcome!
I have a 2014 rogue and this tutorial was spot on. Thanks for help.😁😁
You're Welcome!
The best video on this that I have seen thus far.
Thank you. 😊
You're Welcome!
Thanks for the video! Between my son and I, we got it done. I appreciate you reassuring us that the filter will have to get bendy to get where it needs to go. I really appreciate it. 🖤🖤
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
This video was awesome 👌 super easy to follow, thank you so much!!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Your video is much better than the other ones. Thanks

Outstanding. No surprises after watching your video. Thanks.
You're Welcome!
Thank you! Worked EXACTLY how you described 👍🏾
You're Welcome!
i was confused about air flow sign. thanks a lot for nice and detailed info about air flow.
You're Welcome!
Thank you . I just replaced my air filter using this video for $10 compared to $55 the dealership charges . It was so easy !!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Great job, I did the same thing, remember to put a fuse on the plus power input wire to the converter.
I'm a woman in my 60's and watched it a few times. Definitely a tight space to work in. I've got a 2018 rogue. I bought my certified filter on ebay. I didn't see any arrow for air flow on the old one or the new one. The hardest part was clipping the cover back into place. I got it though. Definitely a cooler weather to do this. My garage in summertime whew 🔥 thanks so much.
Good Job!
Awesome tutorial. You saved me a lot of money if I went through the dealer. Many thanks and keep up the great work.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Just saved all of us some money.

Nice! You're Welcome!
This video was soooo helpful. I was able to do it all by myself.
Nice!
Great job Sir! Very helpful video
Thanks!
They tried to charge me a $124 dollars to change my filter. I’m glad I followed my mindset and looked this up !
Thank you. Really helped me
You're welcome!
THATS where they hid it! I'd taken the glove box door out but couldn't find anything that looked like a filter door, so I figured I was in the wrong spot.
Very helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
Saved me some bucks my man. Very good tutorial.
Thanks! Glad it helped

You're Welcome!
Thank you for this. I was having the hardest time getting the new one in. I will try this in a moment when I cool down. It is hot in south Florida
You're welcome! Good Luck!
Great instructions!
Thanks!
Saved an easy $50-100, thanks for this video!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
This was a big help. It was a pain to get back in but better than paying the dealership $80
Glad it helped!
thank you soo much gonna change it as soon as i get a new one !
You're Welcome!
So Awesome my Nissan dealership charges $56.95 for this what a fame changer. Thank you so much. Especially in this economy.
You're Welcome!
My mechanic was gonna charge me $120. You just saved me $100 bucks! Thank you!!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Great DIY! One addition though...please make a mention about the arrow on the air filter replacement indicating that it should face towards you rather than the "arrow facing the cabin" which confused me at first. Cheers
Hi, he actually did mention that😜
Thank you for the help!!
You're Welcome!
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, that was an easy fix
You're welcome!
Thank you buddy for this, just saved me $120 bucks from the dealership and taught me how to take care of my car and not feel nervous about doing it
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Just attempted this. Your video was great. I'm afraid it took me quite a long time to accomplish the task but I finally got it done. I'm not sure how you got that camera angle because I couldn't see anything from the front, it was all touchy feely. The old filter came out in pieces. I wonder if there is a tool that would compress that filter when it is being inserted? Once again, though, I'm sure it saved me money and I appreciate the tutorial.
Nice job help me out alot i have 2017 rogue dead on
Happy it helped!
Great video you save me 80 bucks from the stealership, and what a jacked up design Nissan for a cabin filter.
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much knowledge is powerful!
You're Welcome!
Thank you! Great job. Dealer wanted $35 to install a new one.
You're welcome!
Great tutorial!
Thank you!
Shout out to You for doing this with one hand 😅. Thanks for the help!!
Thanks - glad it helped
Thanks for this! You helped me do this all on my own! And I am not a car person!
You're welcome! Glad it helped
Thank you!! I read thru the owner’s manual & they said to go to a dealership. No way, I can do this myself w/ a little help…thanks to you.
You're Welcome!
This saved me a lot of money!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the video. And particularly for the tip that there is a screw to be removed. It was not clear because of the position of the filter. Once I removed a single screw the cover came off easily. But removing and inserting the filter requires some back and forth action. Thanks
You're Welcome!
Took me about five minutes, but this video definitely helped! Saved me like $80 to buy it myself
Nice!
Thanks for the help. I’m 6’ 7” and it was a nightmare.
You're Welcome - I bet!
Thank you bro
You're Welcome!
Thank you! I had looked all over behind the glove box and couldn't find it when helping a relative with a Rogue. it's still a PITA. The filters don't just slide in. I guess I'm spoiled with Toyota. I can hot swap a filter in 10 seconds on those.
You're Welcome!
Thanks so much
You're welcome!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank You for the video instructions explaining how to change the Cabin Air filter on Nissan Rogue, Very helpful !, does the Same procedure applies for the Nissan Rogue 2019 Sport model ? Thank You again !,
You're Welcome! Yes I Believe it does
Thanks for the reminder installing the filter. Second filter change I have done on my '19 Rogue. Filter was same thickness & I did not sweat a lot reinstalling the new filter. This 3rd change I
purchased this Charcoal type. The ends are a little thicker as are the individual panels. I had the
hardest time re-installing this charcoal filter. I just hope it did straighten up after pushing it in
so hard. Won't buy the charcoal again. I think you need these thinner brands.
I found out about cabin air filters by accidentally buying one for my engine. Thanks for the video.
You're Welcome! Lot of people get the two confused
Thank you
You're welcome!
Thanks!!
You're Welcome!
You could add to the tittle or description that is the same procedure to change the filter on a Qashqai of the same year.. I found this information after trying to change the filter of my girlfriend's car. Pretty strange that we need to bend the filter like that. On my 2010 Hyundai accent the filter just goes tightly in his spot without any bend. I don't have a lot of experience with car and hope this isn't the case for many car
Thank you so much. Nissan dealership labor prices are ridiculous. 😩
You're Welcome!
Appreciate this video. Thanks very much!
You're Welcome!
can you please do more 2017 Nissan Rogue part swap and repair videos
My concern is that you never really know if the filter has gone back to square once you work it in. Sure enough, I just replaced mine this morning and the old filter was still bent up which explains why my car seems to have a love of dust on the dash.
I'm suspicious too ,I couldn't seem to square mine up, I gave up and shut the door on it.😖
Just did mine today. And you are 💯 correct. Mine was still squished. Terrible design.
I just installed a new Cabin Air Filter in my 2017 Rogue S. It went as described in the video, the only difference was that the cover is white. It had no retaining screws.
Thank you , you saved me $70.00 usd
You're Welcome!
I don't think my dealership ever changed mine since I bought it hardly used so i might just do it myself. Thank you 😁
You're Welcome!
what about the Roque Sport, the smaller Roque of the two?
Wish there was an easy to just slip it in without bending it like crazy lol good job for the tutorial though
yeah it is a bit of a pain to get the new filter in
Went to get my oil changed at the dealership and they said it would cost me $300 to replace the engine air filter and cabin air filter. That is ridiculous. Thank you for this video.
You're Welcome!
My toddler just pushed my office key into my a/c vents. I found a tutorial that should me how to take the vent cover off & pop the actual vent off, only to realize it’s connected to another tunnel leading somewhere. Do you know if this tunnel leads to the filter? I’m trying to find out if I remove the filter, is there a chance my key would be on the other side?
Any direction would be appreciated. I really need to figure this out before I go back to work tomorrow. Thanks in advance.
Were you able to find the key? The vents should eventually lead to the cabin filter but I don't know what's in between that the key may get stuck on or in.
@@PYR-Auto Yes! I used my phone to take pictures of what I couldn’t see & used crafting tweezers in the worst game of claw I’ve ever endured.
I’m still trying to get the side knobs on the front vents to fit back into those little notches. Is it all trial & error or is there a technique I’m missing for the reassembly?
And thank you for a very helpful video!
My AC has been smelling when in use and now I have noticed that smell just when I open my car doors. Could this filter needing replaced be the cause of that?
Replacing the filter may help with that - I would recommend getting a charcoal or carbon activated replacement filter as they do a better job of eliminating odors
I looked and didn't see it on my 2018. Is it possible some years don't have it? I know that's the case with the RAM. I've done it a few times, so I was surprised to not see it.
Found it, staring at me the whole time. Putting it back in is a bit ridiculous, as you said.
Well made video but there needs to be a correction- this doesn’t apply to the 2021 rogue. You have to open the glove compartment and the white cabin filter cover is visible behind it. You don’t have to take anything apart, just remove the white cover and you will see the cabin air filter which can then be pulled out.
Thanks! I changed the title to reflect that
I have a 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport. Do you know if it’s the same process/location?
Yes it should be
I changed it pretty easily thanks to your video but now have no air or fan blowing out. What gives? I even took it out to make sure the arrow is pointing in the right direction.
Not sure - even if the filter is installed with the arrow pointing the wrong direction it should not prevent the blower from blowing. Have you tried re-installing your old filter to see if it blows then?
Thanks for this. Hopefully I didn’t squish the new filter too much lol. The old one looked pretty mangled when I took it off. What a weird and bad design.
Thanks for the tip. I wasn't sure on which way the arrow was supposed to go. Also on the screw.
You're Welcome!
My car didn’t come with a filter cover so I’m trying to find one any chance u can tell me the pet number for the little plastic door
not sure on that sorry
Does K&N make in cab air filter for Nissan Rogue?
Not sure - I have seen the washable aftermarket cabin filters from K & N but I don't know if they make one to fit the rouge.
Same here! Nissan wants 100.00 to do this...Nuts!
