How far apart were your weddings? I’m from the US so doing two ceremonies is looked down upon here cause the second one would technically be your vow renewal. I want to have an intimate legal ceremony with just us two and say our personal vows to each other, then a couple months later after he’s done with nursing school, have a religious wedding and reception to follow, with the whole bridal party and everything. Also do you guys celebrate two anniversaries or just the legal one?
First of all congratulations on your engagement! Our first was on 10th June and the religious one was 30th June. Not everyone will understand your desire to have two weddings, they didn't in our situation, but most will be accepting of it when you explain the reasoning. But most people didn't mind, the ceremonies served two different purposes. We haven't yet been married a year but we are thinking we will celebrate both but in similar ways to the original ceremonies; the first intimate and the second bigger. The 10th June is also the day Jack proposed so its a double whammy! We also acknowledge, of course, the anniversary of when we met in January. 😊
Naomi and Jack thank you so much!! My parents actually got married twice, one legal and one religious, and they also celebrate the date they got engaged, their legal, and religious wedding as well!
