Thanks for sharing the superstitions there, they make me laugh. I can relate to it, as I have family from The Azores Islands, Portugal and they have superstitions too. They say you will get sick if you shower and go outside with your hair wet. Hahahaha. They say you'll get an upset stomach if you drink water after eating watermelon. Hahahaha. Funny how a lot of superstitions involve water. Best wishes to you all.

What about looking strangers in the eyes? I was walking in Manila with a filipina and she was very shy or ignoring everyone as filipinos were asking if we wanted trike tours. I asked her what was wrong and she said something about it's dangerous to look strangers in the eyes because they could steal your soul. Is this common? That was my first experience with superstitions in philippines. She didn't seem to mind staring at my bright blue eyes though haha

My Filipina will not let our 15 year old daughter shower before bed time, because it is bad luck. Can she shower in the morning? Nope. You'll get a chill. So she showers when ever she wants. On the sly of course. These superstitions are hard to break. I am Canadian. I never go to bed with the closet doors open. Why? I don't want the boogy man to get out. All superstitions are silly.

Hi, 2 years ago we were there (see Si Juday Jan Balfoort), because of Death of mama of Judy.
You were not allowed to eat Chicken for a week after her death. Why I asked. You are going to die, because the man there did it and die, the woman 3 streets away did it and die. But I like chicken, I said. You can eat chicken, but not in the house were she died.
When we drive to the semetary, and we sit in the car with the dead body behind us, don't look back. Bad luck.
Judy has often pain when having her period. So I suggest every time: take paracetamol. No, because it stops the bleeding.
Of course the ghosts.... especially white lady. They don't excist, I said. Yes, they do. I never saw one. Because not everybody can see them. So they don't excists is then my answer.
If someting is falling, some dead people do that.
Sometimes i think, they believe in everything......

If you go to bed with wet hair, you will go blind. When going home from a funeral take a different route and drop coins or the spirt will follow you home. Never have empty pockets or empty rice bin on new years or you will be broke and hungry all year. Lots of funny superstition here.
