When Gaddafi Invited the League of Ireland to Libya

  • Colonel Gaddafi, revolutionary leader, dictator, and paramilitary funder… but also a football fan. He also had a strong relationship with Ireland, be it in funding the Provisional IRA or in the mutually beneficial beef trade between the countries, Gaddafi was even familiar with the political leanings of different parts of the country. So maybe it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he invited a combined League of Ireland team to play in Benghazi, yet a surprise it was.
For a deeper dive into this I recommend RTE’s documentary - “In League With Gaddafi” if you can find it online.

Fairplay to him for helping out the IRA

Gaddafi was a criminal rapist of Lybia for 40 years. Does a "good man" expropriates power and wealth and lives of his country during decades??? Can a "good man" kill any of his citizens at anytime? He just played IRA for his own cause against Usa. And in the meantime he was raping girls.
