do ya need the footswitch or can you just use the remote?

You can just use the remote. The BT part of it means it's also Bluetooth and can control it from an AP. The new ones also have ILS so you can buy an ILS command board and have a physical board to control the light that is way more useful than the foot pedal or remote. Or good old DMX if you're into that sort of thing 😅
