Simple Man is just one of those episodes that reminds you this series is a kids show and was meant to have a more teachable lesson for kids. The creator helped explain this episode and another fan further elaborated on his words, this is what they said: We live in a world where things are constantly changing, but as this world changes many struggle to either take the time to understand this change and adapt along with it or ignore it and continue to live in the past which is often times described as a much simpler and better time. I can't tell you how many times I have heard someone say "things were a lot more simpler back then" from an old person like Rolland who do not want to easily accept that the world is just becoming more complicated and still expect the world to just rewind and go back to the way they remember them. But as we have learned by looking at the history of their time, these "simple times" were by no means perfect. Everything we see throughout the episode tells of these "simple times"; drivers expect other drivers to abide by their own personal rules, police men arrest everyone in a car accident rather than perform the task of defusing and understanding the situation, reporters say the news is just "not good" rather than explain what makes is so bad, businesses only sell one specific thing like vanilla ice cream without realizing not everyone likes just one thing. Ladybug and chat noir almost gave up their miraculous for candy, and despite how silly it may sound to us, many fail to realize how their behavior was exactly how all children were taught to act back in those simple times. Children would be taught to do everything an adult says and learn to behave if they are offered candy as a reward, instead of learning to "never trust and take candy from strangers" which is a lesson strongly passed on in todays society and why a child like Manon( a child of today) is so insistent as she passes on her knowledge to ladybug and chat noir when they try to trade their miraculous for the candy. But aside from these "simple times" the episode also talks about how we as todays society have a tendency to over complicate many things rather than realize the simplest solution is often the best solution. And although the world continues to become more and more complicated and as each generation is left to face the struggles of these changes, many of us learn at some point in our lives how its not good to ignore them and feel angered towards things we don't understand. Its just as the kids said near the end of the episode, it may seem scary and complicated but "what we don't know we can learn!", we realize we can take the time to understand these changes, its just something we need to get used to because life is like a game we need to win.

Who knew the most simple akuma victim would be so dangerous? If the kids weren't there, Hawkmoth would have won.

In my opinion, Simplemam shows alternative possibilities in a very interesting way. If Marinette had a less complicated personality. And in my opinion, this episode showed that the power of a villain should never be underestimated. Such a simple power of Simpleman made the superheroes themselves very close to give up their jewels! It's very interesting. And that's why I like this episode a lot. This is much more interesting than love episodes that bring nothing

I really like this ep. Simpleman is a very funny and interesting villain and his power is very powerful and interesting. And the whole action of this episode is weird and different from other episodes.

The consensus seems to be that "Simpleman" is the weakest episode of season 4. It felt more like a season 1 episode released years later: the stakes were so low as to be virtually non-existent, and no plot advancement took place. We had some Marinette and Adrien moments that failed to get them anywhere with each other. The heroes were affected by the villain's powers, but given sufficient help by supporting characters, in this case Manon, Chris and the Cesaire twins. Of course, it did make for some funny moments, and that was a welcome relief from the angst that season 4 has been serving. Given how much more angst is in store, up to and including the finale, "Simpleman" provides some much-needed relief.
On that note, let the rollercoaster ride begin again; the next few episodes really do ramp up the tension!

      In my opinion,
this episode is not the weakest episode of season 4! Its very underrated. Simpleman is a very funny and interesting villain and his power is very powerful and interesting. And the whole action of this episode is weird and different from other episodes. For me, Glaciator 2 is the worst because of the boring focus on Marinette and cat noir

@@blueboy2976 That's one of the things about this show: every episode has something going for it, even if it is deemed weak by all (or some) viewers. There certainly were funny moments in "Simpleman," and it was refreshing to have a break from the angst that the season has been stirring up.

@@diegostach9563 I have to agree with you here, it's the most filler episode it's just: Marinette still being insane over Adrien, Grandpa just wants us to go to the 1st century or something, kids save the day, he gets a charm that ends up useless in 2 episodes time
