Corned Beef Pie for the family - Beginners Guide

- čas přidán 14. 04. 2020
- This tutorial is based around using 'shop bought' pastry, to make this family sized pie - it's a tutorial aimed towards the beginner, but equally anyone trying to work out what they can make to while away those lazy days.
You'll need:
For the filling:
6 - 7 Medium Sized Potatoes (I used Maris Pipers)
500g of Corned Beef
60g - 100g of butter
3 - 4 tbsp of Milk
and a good dash of salt and white pepper.
Using the shop bought pastry, cover the base and top of the pie with it - brush on egg wash to give it, that golden brown colour during cooking. Place in a pre-heated oven for around 40 mins on 200c or 180c if fan assisted/356f - Gas Mark 6. Eat it hot or is wonderful cold - it will serve minimum of 6 healthy portions plus a couple more for the next day.

i realize it is pretty off topic but does anyone know a good place to watch new movies online?
@Juan Cassius try flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Moses Magnus Yea, have been using Flixzone for since april myself :D
@Moses Magnus thanks, I signed up and it seems to work :) I really appreciate it!!
Your corn beef pie is the same as I make no onion as my husband hates onion. And been British it’s nice to see the same product,s and names that I recognise this is home cooking the way my mother taught me. It’s all about feeding the family with hopefully untreated clean food. I even grow my own potatoes 🥔. Love your strait forward no fuss practical cooking. Good work thank you from a fellow home cook. 🇬🇧✝️🍷🎂🍩🍰
Hi Maria and welcome 🍰🥰 Oh we are very much on the same page. Home cooking really is the best. No fuss, just good ingredients and a little bit of love. Have a great day! ❤ xx
Thank you, made this today. Came out fabulous. All the way from Nigeria. God bless you indeed.
Hi Amanda, so glad you enjoyed it! Have A Wonderful Day 😊 ☺️ ❤️ xx
@@MysteryBaker Thank you.❤️
@@amandaokowa-ucheoma1658 🥧❤️🥧
some worstershire sauce in the mix adds flavour and layer the underside of the pastry with some English mustard to add a bit of tang. Just love corned beef pie.
Sounds brilliant... I do love mustard!! Xx
At the end you said : please give me a thumb up. Wel of course I gave you a thumb up ! 👍👍👍 I really have to try this. 😜
Oh Bless you thank you so so much 💖
Seeing this video makes me hungry. I love corned beef. I love making corned beef hash. Tastes better. I would love to try this recipe but i feel the urge to add a vegetable of some kind. Not sure what would be good with corned beef but carrots sound good with corned beef. Maybe some other stuff, but not bunches. After all , the corned beef is the star of the pie. It sounds so filling and tasty and just really nice comfort food. Perfect for winter. And since you can get it together ahead of time and set it in the fridge. Handy for those days when you come home tired and can just have it ready to cook.
Oh yes adding your favourite diced vegetables would be good, maybe carrots and peas? I just love corned beef too and there's nothing better than coming home on a cold day, to some good old comforting corned beef pie 🥧 ❤️ xx
My nan always used to make this pies, thankyou for turturial x
Oh how wonderful and glad you enjoyed my tutorial xx
My grandma made the best corned beef pie. Sadly she has recently passed away. I’m hoping to recreate hers. I will follow your video. It looks so good. I will include a small amount of finely chopped onion, like she did.
I enjoyed watching your vid! Thank you 😊
Oh how lovely that your grandma's corned beef pie brings you fond memories. For extra crisp base, remember to place pie dish on a tray. Come back and let me know how it goes. 😊❤️
Looks amazing will be trying it for sure
It's certainly a tasty pie. Let me know how it goes 🥧🍰🥧❤
Looks delicious! I will be trying this for sure
Thank you xx Its one of my favourite pies xx
My mouth was watering i make these a lot for us
I always crumble an Oxo cube into mine. Gives it a bit more flavour I find, but everyone to their own taste x
Oh yes indeed, add what you like and love, be as experimental as you like xx
Marmite as in all my dishes

Hello Laura, I'm so glad you like the recipe. Let me know how it goes xx
@@MysteryBaker hi I will let you know how it turns out thank for the recipe it's delicious 😋
@@lauradavies5346 🎄🎂🥧
I always add chopped fried onions (more sauted than fried, just softened before they go brown), and also peas and carrots (that have been previously boiled). Everyone loves it.
@@Tinabee1961 Sounds wonderful 😋 xx
Hi Everyone, here's an easy to follow tutorial on how to make this family sized corned beef pie, perfect either eaten hot or cold xx

Hi Judy, thank you 😊 Please come back and let me know how it goes. Happy Baking xx
Looks marvellous, l wish I could snaffle it right away yum yum👍😍😍
Hi William, why don't you give this a try? I'm sure you'll do a great job 🥧❤️
I sometimes used tinned potatoes and cut them into small pieces. As they’re already cooked it cuts the cooking time down so saves money
Oh very good idea 💡 xx
Add an egg yolk to the mash! You’ll love it
Oh yes definitely for a more luxurious mash 🥰
Thank you
My pleasure ❤️
Thank you for the tutorial, I'm hungry now, I was looking forward to you cutting the pie, I will have to make my own pie to slice. 👍
Hi Michael, I think I have another tutorial for corned beef pie, where I do remember to cut a slice ha! Happy Baking 😊 🥧
@@MysteryBaker Sadly, I am the only person in my household who likes corn beef hash, so that means more for me, a win! Some year's ago I tried a corn beef pie in Wigan with nice flaky pastry, delicious! and was looking for a tutorial just like yours to help me make one. 👍
@@michaelmccrory2220 oh I love Corned beef pie too! The great thing about it, once made, it will last at least 3 days and can be preheated, if you prefer it warm. Let me know how it goes 😊🎄
That looks absolutely delicious!
I am going to give this a go.
I am tempted to add some fried onion 😊
Thank you for sharing 👍🏻
Go for it Kev, and please let me know how it turned out? ❤️
I usually just use cornbeef and onion in my pie but im going to try it with potato's.
@@lorrainemetcalfe8516 Great stuff!! It's definitely a great combination 👌 xx
Absolutely delicious looking (and the whole show was very nicely presented if you don’t mind me saying so) HNY young lady. 🙏
Thank you so much, very kind of you. Happy New Year 🥂🎉🤞
Corned beef pies & pasties, a true Geordie delicacy 🥰 I can't wait now, need to get to Greggs for a corned beef pastie/bake
Ps spice it up with white pepper
Ooh yes, I do like a generous dose of white pepper, yum yum 😋 xx
Looks amazing xxx👍👍👍
Thank you Frances xxx

Oh yum. I do like canned corned beef, and lots of pepper.
Oooh definitely lots of pepper xx
@@MysteryBaker why no temperature it the main part of the bake.?
@@patlloyd1435 All the ingredients and oven temperatures are fully listed in the drop down box of this video. Hope that helps? Xx
It looks delicious but she should have cut it at the end so we could see the inside!
looks great will make one tomorrow
Go for it Peter, let me know how it goes? ❤️🥧
well I didn't use puff pastry but made my own short pastry but it was a great pie albeit I wish I had used puff pastry. I have had the remainder of the pie for breakfast and I had some of the mix left over from a smaller pie I made than yours as I am only one, so tomorrow I will fry this as a potato corned beef cake and top it with a fried egg again for a breakfast. Love corned beef always have since a kid. Now 85 lost my wife last year after 61 years.
@@peterking9263 HI Peter, So sorry for your loss ❤️.... if you check out my videos, I show you how to make homemade Flaky/Puff pastry, so give it a try. Lovely to hear you've made use of the corned beef mixture. It's my favourite too. Merry Christmas 🤶 🎄 ❤️ xx
Slaver the butter and savour the flavour!
Will give it a go,didn’t catch what temperature to put pie in oven, perhaps you could repeat that at the end as well.looks lovely.
Temperatures are detailed in the description box below. Thanks for watching xx
And your right it’s actually better the next day cold I don’t no why but it is.
It's so true isn't it Maria? Same goes for cakes too. 🥰
Cut It went done like to see it thank you 😊
Delicious, mouth already watering and only 3 minutes in…
Hi Phil, give it a try and let me know how it goes x 😊
Also I add garlic granules to mine
Cut a slice so that we can see the filling.
Hi Peter, yes I will make sure I do that in future videos x
Onion and corned beef go together like fish n chips
Corned beef and raw onion sandwiches on white bread ,my favourite
Nice xx
Thanks for the video. I'm about to make my first ever pie at 29 😂
Wonderful news, you're never too old, I promise! 😊❤ Let me know how it goes 🥧❤
It was delicious! The kids even liked it aswell. Can't wait to give another one of your recipes a go next week 🙂❤
@@missj5813 Absolutely fantastic 👍👍 I'm so pleased it went down well with the kids!! Its such a great pie, one of my favourites ❤ Happy Baking 😊🥧❤ xx
Well done, (I’ve been so busy eating these for the last 50 years I still haven’t made one yet..) 😁🇬🇧
@@philtucker1224 Maybe it's time this year, to give it a go x
I cut the potatoes into thin slices, cooks in less than half the time - saves power
Very good idea Fallic x
I get my electricity for free (hooked into next door for years). Thanks anyway.
Haha nice
What size is the dish in mm ?
My 6 yr old can make that pie and make the pastry
Absolutely Miesah, they'll have so much fun and they could decorate the top too 😊
onions and msg. short crust.
That makes no sense
I recognise your voice lovely lady,do you make other videos? Apart from mystery baker?x x
I do have a small perfume channel which I started recently, Lynda. I don't have many subscribers yet but it's another passion of mine xx
Lovely just like my old mums! One observation, finger nails, not for cooking I`m afraid
🎄🎁😊
Onion powder good
Very good idea Wendy xx
Can i make gravy sauce for this pie or no need ..
Absolutely and it goes well with mushy peas too 😘
@@MysteryBaker or any veg
You can use minced beef instead of corned beef I used to go to my mates on a Saturday and her mum used to make meat and potato pie with minced beef a big wedge of pie and green beans with gravy over do nice . If Ou had left over mash you could make a few pasties with corned beef in it
Love your video but please don't double dip when tasting !
Oh I'm constantly tasting when I'm making food, but I have to add always with a clean spoon ha! X
Is this puff pastry?
The pastry I used was puff pastry, but is equally as tasty with shortcrust pastry 🥧❤️
Enough salt in butter and corned beef.don’t add extra salt. Not needed.
Richard, seasoning is entirely upto the individual, but I will say seasoning in this recipe works.
sound low
Hi James, the sounds seems OK on my device. Xx
my pie bottom was soggy
You must've rolled it too thick
@@MysteryBaker it was that ready rolled stuff you get that's in a roll just unrolled it left it how it was, apart from that it was cracking
@@jeffwass8268 Ah OK next time roll it until its around 3mm thin on the base. The top doesn't need to be rolled as thin. Glad you enjoyed it though ❤️😊
no cut
Check out my other corned beef pie, I cut that one! 😋
Yet another cooking video where the end product can't be examined because it's not cut open.
Well…can’t eat potatoes …so much for this recipe…can’t you make something carb free please.
The pastry and the corned beef also have carbohydrates in them too. So this entire recipe, is really not for you.
loose the nails,
Why, they're my own? 😘
Add a i oxo cube
