A reunion tour would be so nice.
Chairlift is genius. You cannot denigrate Chairlift. The music is exciting and original-no other band sounds exactly like Chairlift. Caroline has a voice like no other. She and Patrick are super smart and creative. Caroline is beyond beautiful.

Sounds to me like you just don't have the ear or preference for things beyond those going on in the melody / harmony fields. You'd probably prefer cheesy guitar noodling to Chairlift, and that's fine, but you should realize that technical virtuosity and making things "complicated" does not make it better. There is always something to be said for using simple progressions or even simple melodies. I'd encourage you to learn about production and synthesis as well, it might broaden your opinions.
I am particularly a BIG fan of math rock, but I also like hip hop, post-rock, even a little edm. I don't think it's a good habit to hate on what you don't understand/enjoy. You might have the Wrong Opinion, as the name of this video suggests. Let's cease with the negativity. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this music is the best, but I will respect your opinion if you think it is.

No, music is not just "melodies and chord progressions" - there is groove, there is timbre, there is space, etc. Nearly all rock bands use the same simple chord progressions, just with different keys and different rhythms etc. That doesn't make the end music "the same". Your reductionist argument has no footing in modern music, please stop spouting bullshit. Chairlift are quite original
I like alot of contemporary music, mostly prog or sub-genres of. I would hate to think that this is popular belief of what contemporary music is because it gets so much better than this
what are you talking about? draw a comparison, make it plain. I cannot think of one mainstream throat-rammed band to which Chairlift bear a significant resemblance.
as for drones and whether or not they'd be dancing if the music had a different status: well, christ, if you're going to keep giving this much of a shit about things like that, you're going to live your life bitter and exhausted. love more. oh, and if you want to make a change, lead by example. Who cares if she's pretty, I don't think she's Cindy Crawford. The point is , her compositional skills are gorgeous. It's her brain and the way she interprets sounds. Other than that, her over all style is anything but glamorous.
