- I wanted the look of a wooden truck bed, but the durability of a steel bed and no maintenance. So I used composite decking lumber. This is a short version of the installation video.
If you want to see a step by step on how it is done, go to the link below...

About 14 years ago I engineered and set up traffic contro/barricades. Our barricade flat bed trucks had warped/chipped/split decking of various types. I suggested we try trex decking. No one listened. About a year went by and they finally tried it.
A year later every truck had it.
I stopped by about a year ago when the owner passed (great lady)... Every truck had the same deck installed 10+ years ago.
Keep in mind these see a lot of abuse and regularly carry tons of weight.
Love-it! I’m about to replace the wood bed in my “63” C10 I want this option for maintenance considering fuel etc. love the fact of longevity too! I’d subscribed Sir and wish more information on this, I.e. hardware your using etc? Cool btw, Subscribed!❤
Nice! I might be working on a work cart soon and I might do something like this for the bed.
Great idea.
Where did u get your shirt!?! That's the best!
what an idea! So 3 years later how did she hold up did the boards start to sag or anything?
No sag & no fading. Although, if you watch the video, you will see that I added a few extra supports.
BTW, Here is another video I cam across where someone else did it. Maybe his approach will give you some different ideas.

Great idea!! Where did you buy these boards?
I bought them at Home Depot, But I had to run them through a planer and then use a router to notch the edges
Thank you!!
Did you cut a grove in the boards for the strips
Yes. I used a router
