    As an employer, I just want to say cheers to any new managers that are here watching this on their own volition. Make leadership, management, and communication your craft. The more you understand your responsibilities, the less burdensome they will be. You're already 1 step ahead simply by being here and learning how your role works. Many new managers aren't doing this and will fail but not you. Good for you!!

    My boss is a great example of being able to trust. She will let people vent, visit with them, even end up friends with them. But she also makes the hard decisions and makes sure we all understand that she still has to be a boss.

  • @squid9882
    @squid9882 Před rokem +111

    As a manager or team lead, your team should come first and you should remember your responsibility for their well being as well as helping them meet business goals. It's very easy to simply become an executor of your bosses wishes and to let business goals be the only thing you're concerned with - this makes for a very poor manager and I've seen it time and again. Management often seems to forget that the people they're responsible for are people and this is one of the many things that ruins a job for someone. Take your teams opinions and needs into account in all your decisions because at the end of the day, they're what gives the company any worth.

I've made mistakes however I owned them and communicated that to my team.. told them I understand it's a difficult transition just as much for them as it is for me.. Communication can't be said enough how important that is.. dealing with different personalities and how to work around quirks they may have is just something that I'll learn in time.. I'm a manager for the first time after only working there for six months. I'm very nervous and I'm pretty sure I was only promoted because they were short on managers and I happened to be a good worker. The thing is I have issues with telling people what to do. I'm a pushover and I know I'm tolerating way more than is okay. But I don't have the heart to be stern with people. I have workers who sit around or disappear while on the clock. If I were a manager of a better store it'd be easier. But I just so happened to become a manager of a place that was being on the verge of closing down. And the people they hire are always lazy, or high schoolers who honestly couldn't give a shit

There is alot to learn in the effective management space and I'm completely out of my comfort zone and from the comments can see I'm not alone. Keep up the great work! Liked +Subscribed 👍
