    Pavan, what you are saying about jumping domains is theoretically possible. But practically impossible elsewhere in corporate scenarios for everyone. Doing a simple certification will not mean much, there is a lot of transition that needs to be done, which is not possible unless you get a specific opportunity in that area.

    Last 3 years I had got 15% to 20% hike each year in a product based US company while others have got 4 to 7%. Trick is very simple colleges like IIM A,B,C and most MBA courses in abroad provide very poor quality of education and the managers and leaders are not capable of doing their job, so they will work you extra to hide their in-ability. So as long as you can make their problem go away you will get hike.

  • @anirudhb16
    @anirudhb16 Před 3 měsíci +10

    IT jobs are limited and reducing day by day due to automation and AI. Companies like Meta, Google, etc are firing very knowledgeable, experienced and skillful employees. So certification and higher education may not be a solution to all the problems. Thinking beyond IT and thinking beyond a job has become necessary.
    Wars in Ukraine and middle east is adding to the problem. Moreover, bank interest rates are too high and unless inflation comes down to 4% the job market won't change much.
    Life will not be simple going forward. Take a deep breath and accept the reality.
    If you open a tea stall don't be surprised if your manager has theirs next to yours.

      I worked for 17 years, got promotions, did not get laid off. But IT service companies don't lay off people like Tech cos.
      My last year's promotion hike was approx. 6%. Regular hikes are 3-5% in IT for managers. Not worth it.
      The only thing that raised my salary was company switch. Which is the best option to get great raises. Learn and switch.

    TCS is failed give quarterly bonus to its employees And still largest IT company in asia!!! TCS work policy has 2 distinct divisions. One owner class and the worker class. Its similar like what we used to see in tea, jute, real estate worker. They work on daily wage and they are not permanent, they keep changing every now and then but owners don't bother as they consider them as labours without face name performance. Owner don't care if they stay leave or die.. That's the model TCS and other IT companies have chosen.

    If you are underpaid, it's your fault. Winners train, losers complain. How can you expect a company with 6,00,00 headcount provide a double digit hike. Even during this recession period, TCS never laid off anyone. There are internal exams in TCS like Wings 1, Wings2 and Wings 3. You can appear for those exams, if you want to upgrade your salary. If you don't think TCS is the right company for you then develop the right skills and switch to your dream company/start your own company.
