Data Usage - Microsoft Flight Simulator

- I ran three flights over NYC at ~3:10 each trying to fly over landmarks at the same altitudes and speeds. The load times were all the same at ~1:30 seconds. These values will be different depending on where you fly and for how long. This is just data pulled from my specific flights.
*I said 40 cities but I was very mistaken. Here's an article with a list of most of the cities www.rockpapershotgun.com/2020... *
Flight 1(low data settings)
1.03MIB load
0.05MIB flight
Flight 2(high data settings)
158.62MIB load
638.87MIB flight
Flight 3(cached high data)
3.06MIB load
16.12MIB flight

Data cap should be illegal.
Thank you so much my game used to look terrible until I saw the setting
First great tutorial buddy. My sim scenary flight plan takes 4-5 minutes to load to the takeoff runway. So going to for sure use your advice. BTW how did you get the external view to have all flight information to display along the sides? Sorry, I am such a novice, don't care if I get laughed at. :-)
It's sad to see that no one has helped you. If you haven't already figured it out in the span of a year, you go to the tool bar on the top of the screen and press the camera icon and then press external and that's it!
Thanks TRUFF, I have DSL 15 MB cap, so this is very helpful. I noticed especially when flying multiplayer online that using low data settings would be quite beneficial! I have never flown over NYC so realistic is not an issue. But I have loaded into cache the areas I do know and fly frequently.
That was helpful. Thank you.
If i switch off rolling cache, it will be downloading data directly into my ram then? Because i haven't specified any other location where to save, because rolling cache is off. This is madness.
It's possible use a mix from these two setup? The graphic setup (low, medium, high, ultra) can engrave to data usage? Bing on and photogrammetry off?
You can run bing on and photo off. I don't believe the graphics settings has a difference on the data usage but I can't say with certainty without testing it.
@@TRUFF13SHUFF13 Can you make a little test with bing on and photogrammetry off? Photogrammetry is on only in few cities..
What sort of bandwidth do you approximately need to fly at highest settings with full detail.
Wow that is data consuming
Is there a recommended download speed minimum for high quality data streaming.
Using the ~1gig per 5 minutes, it's ~200MB per minute and ~3.5MB per second. You'd need a minimum of 25mbps download speed from your isp and I'd say 30 to be safe
Thanks
I have fs2020 on the series x and it looks and runs fantastic without 3D building settings off,
photogrammetry is used for over 300 cities, not 40...
Must have caught a bad source, I'm updating the description to include this article www.rockpapershotgun.com/2020/08/18/all-341-photorealistic-cities-in-microsoft-flight-simulator-2020/ until I find a better list. Thanks for the info!
Tbh,sattelite data looks crap in my game if you go closer to buildings or ground yes i have a new, pc with a rtx 4070ti
Bandwidth to low switching to off line, is that signal strength (wifi) or data?
I was using wired ethernet. My data speed is 110 mbps download
Hey mate why can’t I turn the data connection options on?
So I just built a new pc.
3070 Vision
I7-10700
850 watt psu
1080p monitor.
Couldn’t figure out why the buildings trees and roads looked bas still even on a high end build like mine. I guess I have to try this setting out. Will update when I turn on bing data maps
@Olly O It depends on the size of the TV/monitor. For instance a 59 inch TV on 1080p looks worse because of the less pixels but a 1080p monitor looks amazing since its smaller. I'm using a 1080p 24 inch monitor and its amazing.
So this game uses almost 11GB every hour?
Holy crap. Does it really? So that's why my internet keeps crashing
Yes.
