  • Buraco das Araras is a huge sandstone crater near Bonito, Brazil in Matto Grosso do Sul. When the farmer originally bought this land for cattle he was disappointed to find out he had this giant hole on his property.
Turns out the crater was home to an abundance of wildlife. Today there are about 120 pairs of red and green macaws. The crater provides an important area of land conservation and many other birds and animals find a home in the area.
Tickets must be purchased in advance from any tour agency in Bonito. Time slots are either for one hour, four hours or all day. As photographers, we did the four-hour ticket.
