absolutely amazing player. my personal favorite and one of the most criminally underrated drummers out there.
You know that you are a badass when you're using two different beaters on a single pedal.
Alright cool it’s not just me who noticed that
@@RiceCracker619 I was just about to say something about this if it wasn't already brought up!! What is with the two different beaters?
@@cletusbojangles1436 the big fluffy beater should add more of a dampened sound but honestly I think it has really good stage presence. The other is a typical felt beater that gives good definition on the head
@@cletusbojangles1436 oh I am sorry I misread you lol you meant it sarcastically! 😅🤣
real answer is probably they filmed the fluffy beater first. then when they went to do close up shots of the feet it was in the way or didnt look good so they changed it. then they didnt refilm the other shots because who really cares? lol not like its a plot hole in a movie or something just kinda funny
Clever how he changes bass drum beaters so quickly. And very good miming.
I fell like an idiot im confused by this beater joke. I think i missed something on first watch
@@coreyw5981 At 20 seconds (close-up of his foot) he has a double sided beater (felt and hard plastic), then at 29 seconds (from above) he has a round fluffy beater. Hope that explains it. Cheers.
@@richardnash3499 ahhhh!! Haha i see now! Wtf?
the beater is the same color of his shoe. it makes perfect sense to change the beater to white so you can properly see what the kick is doing from the birds eye view shots.
@@thisdaymnedkid In that case it would of made even more perfect sense to leave the beater white and fluffy for all the takes/shots. What might of happened is they filmed it all first with the 'two coloured' beater then decided to change the beater and re-do the overhead shots not retaking the ground shots due to time constraints (or decided it just wasn't worth bothering about).... and let us pedantic people with too much spare time discuss what could be one of the least important things in the history of mankind.
Joe is hands down my favorite drummer, I'm really glad he's getting some love.
I’ve met this guy a few times and even had the pleasure of opening for an old band of his a few years back and he’s such a humble person. Completely down to earth and incredibly gifted behind the kit. A true artist
ALLB?
music engineer: so how do you play drums with this song?
Joseph: yeah
Very tasteful playing. Hadn't heard of him or his band before. Reminds me of Scale The Summit, but slightly less proggy.
This is just one of his bands. Hes been in Sianvar, We Came as Romans. Amity Affliction, A Lot Like Birds and Chiodos
@@IIsonosheeII He wasn't actually in WCAR, Amity or Chiodos. He played for them on past tours.
When he’s doing his insane ride part it’s so crazy it looks like the footage suddenly is in reverse
One of the best drummers in the game. Phenomenal as always
this made me enjoy not only Joe's wonderful patterns, but also the rest of the band's musicianship. thanks for making this happen
My man joseph bringing the heat as usual!
What an amazingly talented set of musicians. Don't get me wrong I love Kurt but I appreciate the product so much more when hearing it without vocals
He’s an incredible drummer
Beautiful snare sound.
His bands vocalist is pretty good, his name kurt travis, yall should check out the song with vocals and all
Kurt has a huge list of works he's been involved in. Very much a jack of all trades artist and does it well.
I got into Royal Coda because of Kurt but hearing this song without vocals I gotta say this shit slaps even harder
@@upgradedrayguns Have you listened to Sianvar? Basically this band but with Donovan Melero (Hail The Sun) on vocals rather than Kurt Travis
Such a good feel playing in the woods
This is sooooo good! My New inspiration Joseph Wesley Harrington
The drums are jazzy as FUCK and it blows my mind. The drags on the snare, and the ride cymbal work. Man.
Royal Coda is unironically slept on so hard in the swancore/progressive rock scene. Unironically one of my top bands. But whenever Kurt Travis appears in a band it suddenly becomes "another Dance Gavin Dance" despite the VAST majority of Kurt's career being outside of DGD.
Enjoyed it!
Muito bom Joseph, parabéns!
I just learned of these guys through the drumTrax app. Bunch of their songs but drumless. Thought I was doing pretty good until I saw this. Dude is damn good!
Joey killing it. Rock on!
Great drummer, smart 🤘!
Underrated drummer... Jo Arrington is a true beast
very nice!
Tocar en la naturaleza....lo mejor de esta vida 🎸🎷🎶 🎶🌿🌱🌲🌳🌴
Matt Gartska will approve!! Good job
Amazing
SO CLEAANNNNNN
Best drummer in the game currently. The precision is nutsssss
🖤🖤🖤
nice content! nice job but, which of the two beaters was chosen for the sound? I think it's the featherless one.
It's so much nice
Un sorriso potresti anche farlo , quanta sofferenza in qul volto , spero che non sia nulla di grave
Crazy good
1000% YES

Tape underneath cymbals?
Very nice beat my man!!! Way to lay the shit down. 👌🧘♂️
Wow. Mike Love on the Drums! lol
when he played with allb dood stayed at my house i remember we were all in the laundry room and i he was talking about knowledge he said "the best way to gain knowledge is books" one of the most important things still to this day
Added to favorites*
now do the whole album
What kind of camera are you guys using? The kit have no mics and sounds THIS good! Great! The crashes sounds full and gorgeous and they have tape under them!
Erik B Larsson ofcourse this isn’t recorded live. i think it was premixed and that only the video was recorded
That's because hes just playing for the footage, you can see that it doesnt match the video perfectly. The track was recorded in a studio, not outside
if you could publish the video with the transcription, it would be awesome! thanks
I would also lovw to see the Notation to exactly figure out his stickings
How did you record it? Were there just ambient mics?
I was just about to ask that! :O
das ist top super
I love Kurt Travis but fuck this video makes me really crave instrumental versions of the Royal Coda albums
Reminds me of old school chon
Like 😍😍👏👏 Nice good 😨

Is that snare drum aluminum or steel I can't tell.
Big hand for Tom Flynn!
Thank you sir! 🙏
man this could cure depression
Great drumwork!! That Gretsch serie isn,t around anymore I guess... I remembered Vinnie C played on the same kit (serie) on Crossroads 2007, Jeff Beck, John Maclaughlin...
@Joseph Arrington Thanks for your kind reply Joseph!! I never got the chance to play Gretsch drums, I endorsed Pearl in the past. But I fell in love with that drumkit Vinnie played on and now yours too...;) Wish you all the best!!
Is that Daniel Brian
Not one mic on the kit! ...but the guy definitely knows the song!!!!

My nigga.
Como se supone aque grabaron sin microfonos?... Por lo menos coloquen musica en vivo.
Ok
Wait is that Chris Ramsay🤔😂
Use only the right side of the head phones in the beggining
Will a fluffy bass beater give you a sound like that???
gerald murillo haha you noticed it too! No it will not give you a sound like that if you’re seriously asking that question. They probably used it cause they were outside and need to have the bass drum quiet so he could hear the music playing if they had speakers. But all the side shots showed a different beater so that’s my guess in why they used it.
killer drum track , the final shoot get me nausea thou, with that spinning camera ahahaha jk...almost

They really need to release an album just like this, with just the music. I went to go purchase this on iTunes and found out that it actually has vocals over it and was disappointed. The singer’s fine enough but it’s way better with just the music.
Dance gavin dance is a band that releases instrumental versions of all of their albums & very similar in sound if you havent listened to them yet
I don't like how they process the drum sound for this style of music. It makes it all sound programmed. I love the grestch/Zildjian setup though.
What you mean process?
@@DragonKidSlayer3 they either use too many plug-ins over the original signal or even totally replace the sounds with samples.
@@king-manu2758 I gotta get a better ear for drums, idk if you get the impression it feels quantized at times. And i definitely agree with too much post production. That's why Theodore from the mars volta is so damn enticing.
Shame his kit isnt mic'd up
He looks just like this homeless bike messenger I knew in San Francisco!! Wow
Yeah ... but the taped up cymbals? That'd be like stuffing a pillow into your acoustic guitar.
Wrong.
nein. man kann sound kontrollieren. muss aber nicht zwingend sein.
Good luck I hope you finally find your razor and shaving cream sir
samples in today´s music is what reverb was to 80´s music. Mark my words. 127 is trash.
He's rushing and dragging...Terrible tempo keeper...Just sayin...
What? He literally isn't doing any of that. His ghost notes are perfectly displaced, his technique is great. Opinions are great, but yours is shit, and incorrect lmao.
Yeah, you're wrong
@@gSWG3R You don't know how to play drums do you?...Nor do you know anything about music...
@@taraarrington2075 Umm, no...I'm not...I just have a better ear and understand tempo, as a pro drummer for 40 years...Now fuck off!
@@godbluffvdgg Have been a drummer for 10 years you arrogant moron lmfao.
