Prof John Mearsheimer makes sense sometimes. The issue with him is he talks about China being a threat to America, when it's always been America who is an eternal threat to world peace. Why doesn't he talk about North and South Korea are also victims of US meddling in other countries? North Korea experienced what Gaza is experiencing now.

And what do you know, maybe he will suddenly start to empathize with the suffering Oekrainian civilians!

It was of course the Palestinians that rejected the two state solution at camp David. In fact the charters of the PLO and of Hamas call for the elimination of Israel and of the Jewish people.

John's analysis is solid. He assertion that there is no chance of a two state solution is preemptory and wrong. This is not what Israel wants or believes it can live with. That's their problem. The collective opinion is that Palestinians must have their own state in order to resolve this conflict on this crucial level. John knows that this is the way the world is organized.

@@zzbeasley it could be Israel but for sure would need a new flag and a new anthem, new government, new laws. There will be no peace till than. The apartheid state will have no future in the long run, nor illegal settlements. A jewish only state will be pressured now more than ever and will eventually crumble. It will depend on the united states, it’s the united states of Israel. There would be no Israel without USA support, it’s an extension of territory basically.

@@MacedoMacedo74 For various and powerful reasons as John points out the Israeli lobby has a lock on US public opinion until now. The lobby is not a state so its power is limited. the UK inserted Isral in the Middle East for its reasons which obviously continue. John is correct. Israel is an albatross around the US' neck

@@MacedoMacedo74 John nearly defines his discipline as the interaction of states where there is not over an arching authority especially in terms of great powers. He misses the fact that the UK was recently a great power and it has retained some of these powers by attaching itself to the remnant global empire assumed by the US after WWII. The influence of Jews in the US is a pivot for the UK to steer outcomes their way.
