I remember laughing so hard when Rowan called Rob down to the world during green screen scene because he still didn't understand and he wanted Rob to explain directly to him. Seeing Rob as himself next to Bodger explaining things was one of the funniest things I saw in their D&D campaign 😂

Well, obviously, his modifier was 163.
@@HartSickle yep, +1 proficiency, +1 favorite weapon, +1 fighting style and +160 from level 160 model.
Clearly Rowan has been playing quite a bit of Diablo recently. "Roll of 9.....multiplied by 1,911%....yes 172, final answer."

That's Level 20 D&D for you.
Mad respects to a DM who can pull that off. It has major: 'I'm not going to engage with this shit' - vibes that must have grown over a long suffering time.
This is seriously one of their best sketches in terms of comedic punch with not much time needed in the video. I imagine people younger than us in the future will be watching these, like Monty Python was for most of us. VLDL always delivers with the absurdity humor, or just the funny dialogue and expressions. They're really good at acting. I would try to rank them up with WKUK, I think if I had to rate, I would sadly, have to put WKUK in 3rd, but it's a very close third. WKUK did pretty edgy humor sometimes, so edgy that if you fell down on your joke, you might cut yourself, but those incredibly gratuitous and absolutely wild scenes will always keep a warm place in my heart. That being said, VLDL sits at #2, Monty Python at #1. I'm not sure 1st place can ever be taken by others, as Monty Python basically ran with their premise of absurd comedy and found out that it struck gold, and did it quite well.
If VLDL do another short film, or even a feature length project, they would probably tie Monty Python if they had a premise that would work for the audience
I think they could do another Epic NPC Man one, where it's not Baelin's Route anymore, but somehow, just make a movie about an MMORPG with human logic in it, and then weave a story into it from start to finish that sets up each joke perfectly. I don't doubt their ability to make such a project, they probably are making something big budget when they're not churning out these short sketches that are total gems.
Imagine the flex of having stuntman dress up in georgous costumes just to watch Rowan try to do math... :D

I have a player with dyscalculia. She's a great role player, and tons of fun, but has trouble reading numbers and doing quick maths in her head. Most of the time the rest of us help her, but sometimes she wants to try to do the maths herself. She still does better than this.
Edited to correct my severe misspelling of dyscalculia
Yeah the line "I'm not doing your maths for you." Nearly killed the skit for me.

I dont think it take genius for that. Well good for your friend to have people like you.
@@unknownman5090 It's not really an issue of intelligence. She's actually very smart, but she has trouble reading numbers and doing math on her head. She describes it as being like when you are looking at somebody and you just can't think of their name. You know you know it, it's in your head somewhere, but you just can't access it. Like that, but regularly and with numbers and math.
@@1217BC I dont mean to say your friend is dumb. I mean Rowan is dumb in this skit. Oh also, is it really that bad for them? I would love to know how they do business in daily life now. Curious.
@@unknownman5090 Yes, Rowan is very good at playing dumb. Usually belligerently so.
She isn't in a really numbers heavy career, more personnel management, but it comes up enough that she has developed ways of working around her issues. Computers are a godsend. She has memorized the numpad layout, and that helps her work around her recognition issues, (though as a result she really hates the phone key layout) and the computer does the calculations for her. Apparently some spreadsheet applications help as well. I'm not really sure of all her coping mechanism, though.
Something about Rob just nonchalantly being there in cozy DM clothes while epic set dressing & combat is going on is funny to me in all the right ways

I love Adam being Adam when he thinks that Rowan is right about his calculations and is completely amazed and happy about it. 🤣
As a dm, I have a player that did not roll very high on his IQ stat in real life. He's a great guy and funny but he's very slow with remembering modifiers and calculating them. I have no problem helping him remember his modifiers and helping out
Ill bet his character is a genius though
@@Not-an-Alien Nope, his character has 10 INT and he knows he's not smart in real life and he doesn't act smarter than he is.
Had another player once that acted way smarter than he was, couldn't stand him and threw him out. He would constantly be late, he also "forgot" to tell us one day he wasn't going to come, and we had to wait for over half an hour because he wasn't answering his phone. He would metagame about everything, he even read up on our campaign before us starting. The not so smart guy is also new to d&d and the metagame dude would criticize him every time he did something that wasn't "optimal" and I had to tell him 5+ times that it's not his character to play, and that the not so smart guy can play as he wants.
He was annoying, not funny and he cheated. I had been asking for weeks for his character sheet and he never ended up giving it before I kicked him. When I kicked him he started crying (this was an adult, I believe he was around 24) he was crying so much that snot was starting to leak out and I just had to leave. He was unwilling to take any responsibility for the reasons he was kicked and thought we were evil for kicking him.

And the thing is - if only they came up to some strategy themselves... But so far from what I saw - *nobody* is doing that. People ask for "guides' even on some most basic things - like putting 2 and 2 together(ironical pun unintended XD - that's my standard example for any 'problem'). You need Bless for those rolls, which is not a Druid spell.

It is a thing in dnd. My mate has dyscalculia... Like dyslexia but with numbers. Really causes him a lot of embarrassment to be 35 and take so long up add single digit numbers.
Once we figure out what the enemies armour is we tell him what he needs to role to beat its ac. Makes it a lot quicker. We then have a chart for each of his weapons. Finds what he rolled and it tells him what damage he did depending on the weapon.
Good job in being supportive of your mate, man. It is truly agonizing having such an issue with how your brain comprehends things, in this case, numbers.
This is exactly how our table plays, except our mate has synaesthesia, and finds the colours the numbers make so distracting they can't concentrate on the math.

It can roll the die before or after making the ability check."
The defendant will have you believe that they are able to add the d4 to an ATTACK roll. If the ladies and gentlemen of the Jury would flip to Page 175 of the Player's Handbook under the "Using Each Ability" section, you will notice that "Strength Checks" and "Attack Rolls and Damage" as well as "Dexterity Check" and "Attack Rolls and Damage" are completely separate categories, and therefore are considered separate from one another.
This leads to the obvious conclusion that a spell such as Guidance would not affect attack rolls, as the spell description only mentions "Ability Checks"!
Therefore vis-a-vis hencewith notwithstanding the aforementioned hencefore and so be it. If it is writ, then thou must abide by it.
That was painful to watch. Because if we don't all know that player, we've maybe even been that player a time or two.
Rowan as a bard is a very exciting concept
When Rowan lied about his dmg I love that our best DM Rob! Who didn't even call him out but rather just punish him for his bs. 😂😂 this is why I love their dnd campaign too Rob makes me laugh with his DM skills and acting the characters.
That wasn't even damage, that was his attack roll 😅
Thanks!
@@RobertHartleyGM anytime Rob! You gotta make more appearances on this side of the channel! Love to see you doing good my friend!
I love how Adam is a druid. I love it
I cant imagine how expensive an entire live action dnd session like this would be, especially with all the costumes, time, locations, etc, but I'd definitely want to help fund it!
"D&D!" At the end just killed me. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great clip but that was THE BEST part.
Love how Rob just immerses himself into playing the DM, it's almost like he has experience with it in real life.... oh wait lol
I just realized that Britt's turn is written to establish 32 as an unusually high damage, to help the non-D&D players understand that 172 is just absurd.
🤣 So I'm currently on episode 62 of the D&D campaign. I'm loving how it's going and to see Robert yelling at Rowan here is awesome. 😂 He's only just started losing his cool with them in the campaign.
Math in my D and D??? What is this heresy???
Ikr?, I don’t want a headache
Bars
"Heresy" you say? Wait untill how much math there is in Warhammer 40k. There is so much math that the title is math.
Dungeons and Divisions
@@tyrant-den884 i played it once, didn't need to do the addition part to know that the big tyrannid with 10 dice rolls killed my tiny tau soldier
Ben: god damnn it, she's quick.
Orc: *watches patiently*
its me, I'm the player with the bad math. I'll have my little sheet of paper and desperately adding up the numbers and counting on my fingers.
“Am I okay?” Final round had me in hysterics 😂
