I like going back after I watch a movie/show. I love to watch all the extra stuff, the making of, etc. I usually need it to console myself once I'm to the end of one of my favorite shows. It's part of my grieving process when it's really hard to say goodbye to my favorite characters! This is super cool!

You want all the details out there. If you are looking for funding, if crowd-funding might make up part of it, you will want to grow your audience.
Good point. I don’t think I want to crowd fund the main movie but maybe a trailer for the pitch package, not sure tho.
You could crowd fund a pilot episode. That would show investors there's an audience
@direden definitely something to think about (and to be honest, I hadn’t considered making a “pilot” vs going for the feature at first. 🤔
@tabletopalchemy that's what Critical Role did. They Kickstarted a 2 episode story that was supposed to be a prologue to their first campaign. But they made so much money on their Kickstarter... that they were able to make a 12 episode season.
Once they had that kinda money, Amazon Prime jumped on board and financed their second season of Vox Machina. Now they have season 3 and a spin-off in the works.

Dude!! Inspirational and your enthusiasm is awesome... remember, it's a marathon not a sprint. Don't start off too fast, you'll want to go fast but may burn yourself out. Slow Productivity (Cal Newport) showing up, consistently.... a great line I heard just yesterday, "tomorrow doesn't matter but this month does." Find a steady rhythm that you can sustain for a long time, that's the secret to running a marathon. Slow and steady wins the race, build that resolve. You got this!!

I think it's great! I would suggest some limited animation to show around by using 3D minis for rangers and one or two monsters then setting up a miniature landscape with minor effects. Then some pan shots and overheads like you did for the Silver Bayonet stuff.

That is beyond cool! I am a big fan of the game ever since it first came out. What I would recommend for your pitch package is to create some short video cutscenes, like a video game would have. The segments would be based on the narrative behind the missions and scenarios in the game. The scenes would function like cutscenes in a video game; they would tell the story of why the rangers are going on these missions. These would also be a valuable addition for the game just as fan created content

Love the title of this project; it conjures great imagery. I just went through creating a pitch deck for a project I am doing. It is surprising how the pitch deck makes you do some deep work on what the project really encompasses and then succinctly put that into words.

Congratulations! Fantastic news. As a theatre director who’s done a lot work in local theatres, it’s so important for artists to embrace and love the art of the sell. Why else would we create art if we hide it from the world? It’s so important for us to be proud of our work.
Movie dev talk would be fantastic.
The only thing I ask is rewriting, polishing and editing that script. Script, script, script, especially in a genre piece.
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the spectacle and the feel and have a passable script like the hobbit films, that disappoints and stops stuff becoming classic and endlessly re watchable.
The reason we love LOTR and Game of Thrones is the quality of the writing enabling every other craft on top of it to soar. They could have been terrible. Even budget films like Black Death, Outlaw King, Pilgrimage The Mist, Predators, should by any metric be terrible but there’s a great script behind them and they’re some of my favourites.
There’s little more frustrating that’ll make me turn something off than on the nose dialogue and lazy or predictable plotting/character work.
I don’t mean to be negative. I’m Genuinely excited for you and to see what you can make happen in the next year or two.

Good luck with this new venture. You may find, like I did, that Silver Bayonet and RoSD are more alike. Meaning new scenarios and writing in one, may work better in another.

So, are you going for a straight up fantasy story using the RoSD I.P., or will you do a Stranger Things/Neverending Story/Secret Life of Walter Mitty vibe, where the real world protagonist(s) play out actual RoSD game scenarios on the tabletop (with those being fully realized fantasy scenes), and the protagonist(s) work through their real world issues through their hobby life?
I considered the latter but I’m going to go straight into the ROSD reality/world. It’s harder, so you know, game on lol. ⚔️🏴☠️🍻

Oooooooh, this is great :) Congrats on taking that huuuge leap :) I have faith indeed :) Love it when people so crazy stuff like this, BTS of the process would be great, to me, having *always* been interested almost more in how the sausage is made (I made some killer flipbook drawing movies back in my day) and after seeing ghostbusters in the cinema (and watching Fantastic Voyage on tv one new years eve, the inspiration for InnerSpace) I got sucked into the world of effects and monster makeup and fangoria and gorezone and all that, never on a professional basis but always more interested in how things where done - *really* looking forward to seeing how this developes, and again, congrats :)

If you youtube them, you will see they are a collective who make fantasy short films. The last two they've made are on their channel and they're great, and they would be very good people to get in touch with, if nothing else just to talk about.
I would also try making a short FIRST just so you can learn a bit (Not sure what your experience is).
