This Is What We Do is sort of the heart of the "don't take it personally" series. I wanted to release this song around this time, because April 29th is my birthday, so I thought it was only fitting. Thus, the double upload for today! Originally, it's the song I wanted the series to end on, since I regard it as my theme. Life has a way of changing things, though. If you've been enjoying this series, let me assure you, I have more songs planned.
As for this song, it started out much more direct. It used to go write into "I just wanna d/e, cause I don't care anymore" (hi CZcams, don't glare at me, thanks) rather than "If I made you forget, then would you care anymore". At the time, that's what I was feeling. Lots of negative nihilism going on. Since then, I've strengthened my resolve. This song is now a combination of "those thoughts can go push daises", "your friends love you, idiot", and "Doing this defines me, so I do it."
If you have a good ear, and you're not new here, you might pick up that this song sounds familiar. It's what the channel intro is based on! :D

Calm beat fast and hopeful lyrics, has a sense in that is hard to explain but it is like a sense of moving time and progression, a dying world yet a hopeful theme with determination, to combat the darkness and despair in a broken world. Reminds me of starbound and a lot of hopeful and positive and determined but also negative and a sense of despair that will never replace determination. Definitely my favorite of the songs you have made that I have seen. You have made a lot of amazing songs and I hope you make more :D

Oooh, I very much love this analysis you've given me here. There's a compliment I was once given when it came to my artwork that it looked like it was pulled from a storybook, and to me, this gives the same sort of vibes as that. And it's very true what you're saying. Hope, despair, and determination are huge huge parts of this song.
