Below the “Custom Settings of Sport Mode”, there is a “Sport Mode” switch (only shows up at full charge, when battery is low it turns off), turn it on. And the max speed slider will change to 22mph.
Brilliant. That seems like more of an overclocking mode. I wonder how quickly it would've overheated in that mode!
@@GingerOnWheels Test it please!!
@@GingerOnWheels No OC mode lol it official 22mph setting. The modders will oc I would say this thing can probably go 30mps
also adjust the drum break for better stopping power
@@AdrianYM well, I tested it. It's not pretty. 0.9 miles uphill before it overheated with a 220lb rider in 85 degree weather.
Range test video was awesome Mr. Wheels... Thank you.👍👍👍
For me 22mph unlock worked by going into the setting, scroll down and check "Sport Mode", exit settings, put the scooter into "S" mode, enter settings again and enter "Custom Settings of Sport Mode", move slider to 22mph.
Have the original ninebot max 30g and love it. Looks like the Max G2 is a winner. Thanks for the range test on Sport mode.
Along with your video, and several dozen other videos on the Segway G2. I purchased mine last night. First ride was great. Second ride was faster and really very comfortable. Very impressive. The suspension makes for a smooth ride. Brakes are not great. But I expected that from your review. I am just going to plan ahead until I get used to this thing. I plan on many miles around town, and frankly, I plan to throw it in the camper to check out some state parks. Thanks for your honest, and dead on review.
Great audio, great video 👍
I've had my max g2 for about a month now and I love it! I'm only 140 pounds and my longest ride was 26.6 miles. That trip I took it out on a record hot 105 F day in Lincoln, Ne. No overheating issues for me! Made it home and still had 7% battery and it ran at least 20mph until about 10-15%. Very impressive and smooth ride on some minor gravel routes. I picked up your firelight L2000 the xhp variant and I love that too! I live by some trails that get creepy dark at night and it is a major improvement from the stock max g2 light😊
is it still good now? did you encounter any problem with it?
Still using it?
Yes still using it and haven't had any major issues. It's winter where I am so I've only had one ride in the last month or two. I've been gravitating more towards my Wired Freedom ebike in the meantime. I will say that with any kind of electric battery you have to know how to care for it to keep its longevity.
Thanks for this video. I just got my G2 yesterday. It rides pretty smooth so far. I'm using it for mostly TJ and Target runs here in NYC. I wish the charging cable was longer.
How is your rear fender? Mine seems pretty loud and clunky sounding when hitting bumps, not sure if it’s the fender but definitely coming from the rear wheel area
@@Tduff22 it's the spring that are too tight. try to loosen by turning left with the end of a drill
@@Tduff22 it might be that youre chunky and its bottoming out on bumps. Id try adjusting the stiffness of the suspension.
Nice review!
If you go back to settings and another page back to the main menu and go back again in the settings, there’s a button underneath the sport mode adjustments. Enable that and it will let you slide to 22mph. It a bit finicky and you have to open and close the corresponding settings a couple of times
Yes! Mine was limited to 20mph on the app until I changed to Sport on the scooter, then suddenly I was able to increase the limit to 22mph
This was a wonderful review. About the brake stop distance, yeah....... i just learned from that after getting quite a knee scrape yesterday. Note to self find knee pads and elbow pads to avoid injuries as much as possible. I was riding behind my 12 year old son with his Ninebot Zing C20 kids scooter and was about 15 feet behind him. Both of us were riding at about 10 to 12 miles per hour and when he braked, he stopped asap which unfortunately my brakes on my Max G2 took a bit to make a complete stop, i didnt want to crash into my son so i moved a bit to the right and ended up sliding sideways, fell and cheese grated my knee lol. About the overheating, yeah im 260lbs and mine gave me the overheating icon thebother day as well at a very slight incline at maybe 36C, after a minute of resting i was able to resume riding. I think that as long as i only ride it at flat surfaces ill be fine but that does suck about incline overheating.
Idk man, 260lbs is too chunky for a 500W motor. Id go 1000W+ with some beefcake brakes too. The max weight says 265 lbs so your really at the upper limit of that range too, prolly over it with clothing and gear on.
At 36, the voltage is too low, thus they need to use a higher amp to run the more powerful motor. Thus, it's more susceptible to overheating.
It’s overheating way more on my hand… the battery should be 48v. I’m getting error 51 (1.3.5) or HI (1.3.6)then the scooter does not move anymore
100%
@@augustinandre-fouet8548
Inmotion S1 is 54v
Go get one lol
I got 31.9mls at 25kph I'm 95kg
@@GingerOnWheelsdoes it work with the 48v maxpack
Their software updates fix all of that.Driven 20 miles in sport mode and the things never had a problem
Nice review 👍
I’ve been riding my G2 up a LOT of hills for the past 9 days, and so far no issues at all. I’m 190 lbs and the air temps have been in the mid 80s. I found that when I ride it hard and the energy recovery setting is on max, it will not charge until the temp in the app gets down to 40°C, but that’s the built-in protection at work. Not sure if the higher regen setting heats the motor up more, but it seems to. Very impressed with this scooter!
How fast will it discharge if I pump it up to 35?
I think your right and its the regen settings that make it overheat
do you know how tall is the handlebars from the deck?
I´m 163cm tall and am worried that the handlebars sits to high for me.
@@tomdome7164 i agree. i weight 300 pounds and my max g2 has never overheated, mind you i turn regen braking OFF as i find you are more energy efficient being able to coast for a while, instead of the brake pulling you down and having to accelerate again. regen braking is so pointless if you just use more battery getting back up to speed that you just were and if you are on a downhill or flat you cruise saving valuable battery
bro your the segway G.O.A.T. you test them try them even i am always exited to watch by the way i sub and like
Thanks for the support. Got a special Ninebot video in the pipeline right now 🍿
I think traction controll works both ways accelerating and braking ( more or less like abs) preventing back wheel from loosing grip also while braking so it's extend the braking distance if u push brakes hard . At least I can see it with my g2 in general I can stop in about 20/25 feet .
Will get this thing in the future to replace my G30P when it's on sale!
I got a used one on ebay for $599. It had 1 or 2 scratches but then on the flip side, when I added a scratch, I didnt feel so bad.
Thanks for your awesome and informative videos. I have been looking at the Ninebot F65 and it seems like the specs are same-ish as the G30 but no one, and I mean no-one, has done a legit review video. Any plans to do one in the future?
F65 has no suspension = the suck is why
GOOD STUFF!
It sounds like your overheating issue comes from weighing 250 bills and then having brake regen at 100%, so going downhills will heat things up for sure. Id try going to only 25% regen and then using your brakes more instead of 100% regen friction mode which generates alot of heat.
How is the performance compared to to G30 w/48V kit?
And are you planning to do a test with unofficial performance firmware soon?
thx for the video! do you still recommend this scooter today?
Hey dude you can adyust the brakes at the front wheel
Greate video 👏👏
Honestly my segway ninebot max has been pretty solid with absolutely no overheating and power ablity to pull my weight around effortlessly for hours at 35kms / 22mph i really wanted to upgrade to the G2 because of all the upgraded features but the over heating shut down is a deal breaker for me
Ty for warning a 300 lbs rider or 133kg😀😀😀 Enjoyed the review.
If you dropped your weight to 180lbs and do the same test again as a comparison to show the difference, that would be interesting. I've got the same scooter and i'm 177lbs and not overheated it yet climbing some pretty steep hills and getting range of just over 20 miles
I've got the UK version limited to 15.5mph, so that probably adds a bit of range
And reduces temps
@mushroomgods4707 you can unlock the speed if you want
how much did u weigh when u did the orignal testing vs how much u weigh now when testing the g2?
Turn off regenerate brake or lower it down and use your hand brake more for the over heating
9:10 Guess its better windings of wire and stuff in the electric motor.
And another thing on my G30E II, I get same range on Drive as Sportmode.
But in Sport i get there faster, so it can feel like the battery go down faster in Sport. But i get the same distance.
What app are you using to track all that data?
As owner of the eu 25k/m top speed version. I wonder at witch % the acceleration from 0 to 25 start to deplate. Is hard to feel
I wont overheat unless you go all out sport on a hill climb. I ride this scooter daily and average about 20 km. Its not on flat ground either half of it is uphill and downhill. I weigh over 100 kg and i always ride in sportmode. It has never stalled on me.
it would be great if you compare it to xiaomi 4 ultra or the navee s65!
Is this thing easy to stop going fast downhill?
You have to unlock the 22mph in the app bro.
I had the same problem with the 20 mile an hour speed limit. You have to wait a day and then you can change it for me. I think it’s a safety reasons.
20 mph is from operator error to not understand how to raise it in the app to 22mph (despite being dozens of videos on it).
I'm a 140 pounds and I take this thing at the top speed of 22 miles an hour all over the place and I take it in the woods into the mud and in the rain and everywhere and I absolutely love it. I love everything about it and I have no complaints and I also weigh a 140 pounds LOL but I get about 25 miles range at full speed
Hi I’m a huge fan
👋
What do you think of this compared to the #Inmotionclimber
How could firmware fix overheating issues?
I got 18mls ninebot max
31.9mls inmotion S1
both at 25kph
S1 54v, max 36v
Inmotion S1 has hill assist
Charges battery going down hill without using brakes
Dualtron for life
U should compare it to the s1
Hey thx for the vid. How many km or miles when you ride 25km/h. (Normal mode) On my g30 max i got 38 km max but I weigh 64kg.
u get minimum 50km
yea good upgrade compare to 1 version 👍🏻 better acceleration ,wider deck ,higher drivewheel ,selfhealing tires suspenison 👍🏻
I have litteraly lost 34 lbs so far JUST because I know I am getting a scooter this summer. Still opting for the original Ninebot Max because it's carried by Costco and they accept returns on evvvvvverything so I have peace of mind. Down to 224 lbs and will be under 220 by the time my Ninebot is paid for in a couple of weeks.
That's awesome, I'm happy for you. I'm trying to lose some lbs myself! Extra weight is the death of electric ridables.
@@GingerOnWheels I hate to give advice since I’ve been fat most of my life...just meat and veggies has been the key for me.
Added bonus to losing 34. You will go further at a lower weight! Keep it up
It does 22 all day.the cut off is on the old scooter….but every now and then it starts limiting at 20.but I hook it back up to my phone and it stops.
its all about the regen from what i observed. up hill power out downhill net power gain not allowing machine to exceed the down hill speed puts power back in to the bank.
It's why I slowly throttle down hills and get good speed before the hill. So I'm not full throttling in tough areas.
In NYC 55 percent battery I got 11 miles at at max speed and regen im 205 pounds
Hey Ginger On Wheels , can you look up the PHATMOTO Mini XL please? I want to know if you have an opinion on it's stats and safety because I don't know much about what to look for and your videos and comment section is usually always useful for help and info.
Where do i get this exact scooter? I see many different max g2’s going from 20-25 km/h

Dude! Young fricken you jus PUSHED IT UP A HILL! But your refreshed an ready to go to a party?! WTF
could you only get 18 miles from it in sport???
Very surprised to see these units overheating so frequently. They are certified for up to a 265 payload so this should not have happened on this test ride. Segway has been very silent on all of the early problems with the Max G2. As much as I want to recommend this scooter as a good entry level model, I think we need to hold off on buying them until Segway figures these issues out.
Me too. I'm really surprised this one left the assembly line with these overheating issues
No problems on my G2, so the overheating I dont believe is widespread (unless its like 105' outside, u weight 250 bills+, and/or youre fat + u set the regen to 100%, then get too much heat friction is my hunch there).
@@srobeck77 im 300 pounds and my g2 has never overheated. its simple, turn regen braking OFF and never turn it on again. its rubbish.
@@FOURYE4RSTRONG ya i dont think overheating is a widespread issue either (I just brought mine inside for the winter and all summer no overheating issues and I always used regen because im too lazy to want to use brakes all the time).
Segway says that G2 is rated for 250lbs and under. So if it works for you great, but on the other hand, its going to strain that motor a bit more and less battery life for bigger fellas like yourself.
2.22.24😮
What… over heating look so annoying. I had G30LP and my weight was 200lbs. Never had over heating issue
Dude been waiting for an update on the road runner pro what happened to that just made an unboxed video and that’s it lol
It fried on the first real ride. Still waiting on parts from the factory.
@@GingerOnWheels LMAO!
@@GingerOnWheels oh man sorry to hear that man was so looking forward to see you test it out stay up man!
how tall is the handlebars from the deck?
near 1 inch more than the G30
I can't say I have any interest in this scooter, but your helmet looks like a good option in this warm weather! Do you think it offers enough protection for higher speed scooters?
I watched the video twice and I don't know if you stated your weight. I have the KQi3 Pro, and my mileage is half because of my weight. At 230 lbs I only get 12 miles .🤢
I think I was 200-210lb in this video. 230lb now though 🫠
@@GingerOnWheels Oh I see. So I would get a little less. Thanks for the info
Thanks to ginger I upgraded my max G30LP to the 48V a while ago, never overheated or throttle down, I even got mine all the way down to 25% and still hit 25 and 26 miles and hour consistently, no way in hell the max G2 is a winner for me, my next upgrade will be the GT2
Yeah I’m over 200 lbs it was embarrassing having cars watch me struggle up a hill today . Going 2 mph
I got 24 miles and weigh 215 idk how he got 18 I went up few hills and hit full throttle hole ride
The opening photo on this has A G30LP. What's up with that Mary Ann
da f*ck u talkin bout Josephine. it has clearly different fender than G30
mine has 22
I would much rather have an external inverter and a few extra cells or a 48v pack
What is the error 16 on the ninebot max smh I have been trying to look things up but it tells me like 5 different things
Brake hall sensor abnormality.
@@GingerOnWheels why does it say on the internet that is battery change mos abnormal do I have to get a new battery
@@Sweetersweet2006 lots of misinformation online.
@@GingerOnWheels yea there is nothing on how to fix it
@@GingerOnWheels so how do I fix it I have changed the break lever and the throttle and the screen and I still get that 16 error code
I only have my max g2 for 100 miles and I person crashed into me. The entire front tire got ripped out 😢
Are you okay? I hope you are okay.
@@athaofficial4219 See I go the opposite way, Id like to enjoy a video of the crash for entertainment purposes.
I bought a d18w hacked it and it goes 19 down hill i can get up to 16 on flat surface it gets me to work im looking into that varla pegasus scooter
7.6.23
Throttling downhills is bad :( my xiaomi doesnt do that
I have to say how much I hate the "hold the throttle PERFECTLY STILL while going down a BUMPY ROAD WITH NO SUSPENSION" cruise control mode. You have to hold the thing SO STILL :( I actually hate it. I'm glad it's there but I hate how it could have been so much better. It isn't difficult to put buttons on things.
Hate CC, just disable it, problem solved.
@@srobeck77 I hate it too but I also am glad it is there when it does work. I just wish it worked better than it does.
Dont use reg.break!!!
I can't wait till custom mods come out for this for bigger battery and faster speed like the original ninebot max
Why wouldnt you just buy the next model higher if you want more speed or battery? I dont get it.....
LOL Rideylong
I know. 🤣🤣
I weigh 130 and fly on this scooter
just tested mine, sports mode, lots of uphills over long distances, winter with a little bit of snow, -4 celsius, 25km and still 30% left.
This scooter doesn't care about hills, I think some of the hills I climbed were around 35 degrees, this guy accelerates through them, rather than slow down. Amazing escooter!
Stop the suffering and just build your own battery.
Replace it with a 10s13p 48v and swap the controller out ..
much more fun 🤩
How about 72volt 🔥

@@GingerOnWheels for me personally… when you smacked the floor with 40kllh a few times, you learn a life lesson… life is pressies.. and you Enjoy the ride a lot longer if you respect the boundaries you’re body can handle .. life is more fun in one piece..
It’s angry birds 😂😂😂 я из России
16 minutes for a simple range test???
Yep. You get to come along for the ride.
In my opinion the Ninebot F65 is the better choice. 48V, significantly more power. Slightly more battery. no suspension.
F65 is 400w vs 450 on the g2. It's also 20% slower. I do bet that the higher voltage keeps it cooler though. I wonder why they reverted back to 36v for then gen2 ninebot max. 🤔 Maybe efficiency.
@@GingerOnWheelsthe higher the voltage, the less amps the controller has to put on the motor, hence less heat. With less heat, more efficiency. So higher voltage is better.
@@GingerOnWheels The peak power of the G2 is 850W. The peak power of the F65 is 1150W. That's a big difference. You can see that in the app and you can also see that on inclines. The G2 may be faster in the US, but it is limited in Germany. Both are equally fast here. The F65 has the rear turn signals below so that they are not covered by the driver. Everyone focuses on the G2 and unfortunately the F65 doesn't get any attention even though it's better. I find that a bit sad.
@@ElectricCommuter we must not be talking about the same scooter. Peak power of the max g2 I have is 1000 watts. everything I see for f65 says it's got a 400w motor that peaks at 700w.
@@GingerOnWheels That's right. The F65 is specified with 400/700W. The G2 is specified with 450W/900W. I only bought the F65 because everyone bought the G2 and then I can swap with the others for our YT channels. I wasn't expecting anything especially after the F30 was pretty bad. But as it turned out, the F65 is much better than advertised and clearly superior to the G2. I had no issues with overheating and the other bugs of the G2. I can understand that you have trouble believing me. But if you get the chance to check out the F65, you should.
You’re over 200 pounds??? lol
I think that’s the problem lol that’s a lot of weight to pull lol for a tiny scooter lol
