I bought my 03 back in may of 04, it had 205.xxx miles but i only paid 18,000 for it. Its got 585,xxx miles today and its been the best truck I've ever owned. Injectors are the only real problem I've had. I hope to keep the old girl till I die.
Very blessed to have a 2006, SLT, 4x4, single cab, 8' bed with the 5.9 and 6 speed. I have never seen another one like it
One reason the third generation Dodge Ram was such a good truck was because they were manufactured when Mercedes-Benz owned Chrysler (DaimlerChrysler). They were really well-built during that era. It's a shame that DaimlerChrysler didn't work out in the end because they really were improving Chrysler vehicles and had them headed in the right direction.
I just got a 2007 5.9 cummins today that’s why I’m here watching this video. First diesel I’ve owned.
Is it a manual and how many miles?
I like the fact that you weren't just trying to talk about the giveaway. You're educating people through your experiences on buying, fixing & testing these trucks. That's what's up.
Just learned about your channel through your merch. Love the second gen shirt and ordered it without even knowing about a giveaway. Dang would I love to get this truck. Would change my life
I agree, love the look of a 2nd gen an had a 99 sport 24v. But I always wanted a 4dr 3rd gen.
Excellent info, beautiful 3rd gen! I have a 2004.5 4x4 Laramie Crew Cab. With all updates! 48re billet Sonnax internals! Gorend built valve body! Revmax triple disk converter. Bank Big Hoss Kit! Arp 425 head studs 10mm Dragon Stroker CP3! Mishimoto Radiator/Hoses,lots more to list!
New to both channels but man o love the builds I've seen so far!
Very helpful thank you 🔥🔥 I def love the 3rd gen more for sure
I hope I get this truck such a nice build! all of them are brotha much props!
Got mine in May 2020 from a dealer. It was a one owner, bone stock with 109,000 miles on it for $17,500. There was a sticker on the window that said “proud grandpa” lol. 2004.5 4x4 Ram 2500 SLT. Man I’m so glad I bought it. It now has 140,000 miles on it.
i miss my 06 , it was such a fun truck to daily drive. ended up trading it in for a 19 ram 3500 for work purposes.
I got a 05’ crew cab 4x4 with 250k miles and needs some work but I got it off my FIL for $5k and I love it.
Just bought a 2004 RAM, dually Laramie with only 64k miles. Pretty much all stock, super clean. I wanted a manual but settled for the automatic because I could not find any manuals with everything else I wanted. I paid 39.5k in Salem, OR from a dealer. So people are paying those prices. I am one of them.
I paid around the same price for my 2018 manual
Rip
I’m a 38 year tech from a GM dealership and I have a whole five dodge ram 3500 Dooley the secret to the transmission every 12 months drop the pan and change the oil and filter in the transmission and you won’t have any trouble out of them and by the way, if somebody ever tries to give you a Duramax don’t walk away Run that’s the scariest diesel madeI had to say it
I just did the same 2003 41k miles 42k purchase price. Bone stock .. I admit I have zero experience on up grades and have no clue where to bring it too around here in middle Tn.. Trans valve body up grade, fuel pump and filter system.
I miss those pre dpf
in 2015 i got my CCLB DRW 06 truck with 111k miles for 21k, i felt it was a steal and i still have it today, just finished g56 swapping it and its the exact truck ive wanted now and i dont think ill ever let it go,
625,000 miles on my 03 cummins 2500. very happy with it
Great advice 👍 for anyone looking for their first dodge 👍
Preach! The happy medium! I got a 2005
Just picked up my 05 Laramie 5.9 with 131k miles for 15k. No rust . Only cosmetic flaw is a crease in the passenger side bed side. Fixable.
Use to watch your videos all the time but stopped because seeing these know I’ll never be able to afford one it was like a tease 😂 but now I’m buying a 05 103k dodge 2500 cumins and I can’t wait
Hopefully I’ll be picking this up soon 🙏
I just got an 03 manual 4.7 with bad motor but seems great so far to build up
I would love to have this truck , I already have a 2004.5 looks exactly the same but I will have too say this would be an upgraded version because mine has age showing but looks exactly like it color and everything , except for the wheels and upgrades of course but mirror image haha needless to say I love it best truck 😊
I am planning to get into my first diesel this coming summer/fall. I have a wrangler paid off worth around 20k currently. I originally looked at 4th gens in the 2010-14 range with 100-150k on them but once I realized the costs to repair a 4th gen I quickly started looking at 3rd gens lol. I cant afford to take a 10k loan on a 30k 4th gen and then have to pay 8 grand on top for a trans. Buying a 3rd gen for 18-22k with the same milage makes so much more sense. I either want one that's been built nicely or one that I can build myself. I could buy a 3rd gen and put 5k in mods on it and still be under the 30k starting price of a 4th gen
I can’t believe I just won this truck, it’s a true blessing. My current truck has a blown head gasket and leaking water pump, so I can drive anywhere🤦🏼. I’m just absolutely shocked, was not expecting to be drawn.
What’s the wheel and suspension set up thank you in advance
Hey bud,, what kind of lift do you have on it and what offset on the wheels,,it looks good
My 3rd gen 1500 hemi just died so now in the market for a 3rd gen mega cab cummins but I agree just something about 2nd and 3rd gens that I prefer
Got a 2nd gen in my area for 12,500 with 80k, absolutely beautiful conditions
I’m the biggest GM fan you could possibly meet, but I also rock with them dodges as well Cummins make a good motor indeed, thinking of picking one up got the opportunity to buy a 06 5.9 might hop on that
I’ve owned 4 so far starting in 91, have an 06 I’ve gone through completely including new transmission, paint , steering.. with only 115k it will last forever without breaking the bank buying a new 80k one.
got myself a 2003 2500 5-spd 2wd in November
The 5.9 is boss and being pre emissions is all you needed to say imo. tanks
do you mind explaining how you did a 4th gen leather swap. I am currently building a 2005 and would love to have to leather in it.
G’day guys I’m in Australia and 3rd Gens are pretty rare to come across. I found one with 160k miles on it stock as a rock which is good to know it hasn’t been tweeted. I want to use it for a work truck in mining as a diesel mechanic. How many miles do you usually see getting out of the transmission before it needs building ? Steering play? Is the air conditioning any good ? Where I work it’s 115 degrees for 9 months of the year 😅 and would anyone know how much you can upgrade the GVW? I was hoping to raise it upto 5Tonne as the truck comes factory 4Tonne
what headlights and tail lights are you running?
The damn wind Buba 🫥
I found a 2007 2500 ST at a dealer, apparently brought in by an older gentleman. It’s a manual, 5.9 with 140k miles. It’s crazy clean. The pictures of everything inside and out is so pristine and they want 22k. Really thinking about getting it
Sounds like a solid deal
Send the link
Wher did you see it?
I paid 24 in 2018 for a white one just like that 4wd quadcab manual. I don't regret it but a megacqb would have been preferred to be honest
Coworker is selling an 06 2500HD with 150k for $23k and I know it has been taken care of well. Definitely seems to be in the range for a deal
What brand of headlights are those. I’ve been trying to find better replacement for the old oems
I'm the original owner of a 2007 Dodge Ram 5.9L manual. I have around 150,000 miles on it and it still runs like it was new. I ended up towing an RV from Colorado to Florida and back again last summer and it didn't even flinch.
I got one use out of North Carolina 07 3590 5.9 6 speed manual 135k on clean as a whistle. Runs like a charm and find myself making excuses to go somewhere 😂
I’m the original owner of an 06 turbo diesel 4x4 quad cab 143k miles, and still runs like new. I’ve had to do a lot to the interior though. Seat foam replacement, 3 multifunction blinker/wiper switch replacements, tach doesn’t work, sun visors locked up, pulled the HVAC box to replace all the doors with an aftermarket kit after 4 of the 5 stockers broke. OE Microfiber seat covers are so garbage, they stain just looking at them. Both power mirrors are on the fritz. Power train has been 100% rock solid though and I love the truck and will keep it another 20 years until they bury me in it.
I need that truck amen 🙏🏼
I still have the first new vehicle I ever bougt, 1995 2500 4x4 manual trans long bed 5.9 gasoline. I sure would like a pre emmisions diesel 4x4 manual. Thanks for the info!
Up in the air on them, they were great a decade ago for the same price but today a lot of them are either clapped out or the nice ones are still 20-30k. Hard to buy one for 30k and need to replace injectors, steering components, transmission and other parts known to fail. It’s a tough one and I’m in a new market for one
I just picked up an 05. High mileage and yeah I’ve been plugging up all the leaks;). But we got it for about 1/2 the KBB. Awesome truck for the money we have into it.
I love the 3rd gens ❤
I guess I have to agree with you I have my truck that I bought brand new on September 8th 2001 three days before the towers got hit in New York City the truck has 75 miles on it when I got it it now has 475,000 on it and it still runs like the day I bought it. It's a 2001 Ram 2500 long bed Cummins 6-speed ho I would love this truck since the day I got it and I still love it today but I always found myself wishing that the backseat door configuration was more like the third gen then to me it would be the perfect truck I thought about selling my truck a few times but heart seems to be in with that truck and I for some reason don't want to let it go but after watching this video I think what I'm going to do is just keep my second gen and I'm probably going to look for a nice 3rd gen Cummins manual with a long bed they are very difficult to find I have seen them here and there if I ever find one I'll buy one
Build a personal diesel truck.🤙🔥
The audio shop I use could give me any feature in my 2006 Cummins that it was lacking. I had a touch screen put in with Bluetooth and phone $600 looked factory. Even had a CD player! They can do heated seats…. Don’t buy new ones for the features unless you really need all the cameras. And again, the audio shop can do a nice back up one for the trailer anyways.
Selling my 06 Megacab with 88,600 original miles. It has rust but it's a 1 owner, never been worked truck. Tons of aftermarket stuff on it but the engine is stock with the exception of an Air Raid intake. No suspension lift. Hit me up if you're interested. I'm in Coeur d Alene, Idaho.
I Agree!
Use to have one loved it I’m entered hope for the best
I would totally have a 3g over my 4g BUT, with 2 kids, I need a bigger back seat then what the 3rd gen has
I’ll be buying soon an 03 Ram 2500 cclb 5.9L cummins from one of my customers and the only thing wrong with the truck is the bed needs to be replaced
If all generations are about the same price. All else considered. Im getting a pre 1997 model year. No smog required.
Yep, just paid 29k for an 2007 5.9 with 117k miles for pulling an RV, I didn’t want to have to worry about emissions issues leaving me on the side of the road. It has a Sage 2 Billet Transmission from SunCoast, new injector’s, new brakes, lifted on 37”.
It will be for sale when the 2024 F350 comes in, if anyone is interested. Texas owned truck.
Is it a manual? And a 3500?
I just paid 9500 for third generation
@@boomer1049 just seeing your question, no it was a 2500 automatic with the billet transmission
@@dannysavagedraftguru Congratulations! This one came with a transmission that nearly cost that 😅
@@Captain-Awesome Thanks for answering!👍
I just purchased a 2006 2500 ram for 16k this is my 1st diesel
04 gen 3, 150k miles, firepunk comp 2 trans. Wants 18k for it. not sure what else it has done to it. Going to look at it in 2 weeks, need something reliable to tow a travel trailer that I’m gonna be living in full time for the next few years. These trucks look and sound sick too.
How do you know if the third generation? Is it between certain years?
I have a 05 2500 168k miles selling mine for 38k. All dealer maintenance done and fixed since I bought. Converted from auto to manual. Traction bars lift new t case drive shafts. Trans rebuilt and new clutch. Fuse box ecm harnesses suspension all replaced at dealership air conditioning new so much new. Pre Def. Loud and fast. My 3rd generation has been paid and fixed basically new.
Did you do the auto to manual swap? How much did it cost you approximately
@timtressider1941 cost of trans g56 shell was 7500 rebuild was another 3k nah. I don't do the swaps but my mechanic does.
@@timtressider1941 ecm also has to be programmed or can get programmer for the swap to clear codes for auto sensors for trans
Just picked up a mint third Generation for 9500
Bought my 06 quad cab 8ft bed larimnew in 06 tons of aftermarket stuff on it carli ,steed speed, goerend trans. 40 thousand miles i,v bren adked no less three x,s if id sell it still in garage probly be buried in it.
3rd gen single cab giveaway pleeeeeeease
Edited: 6 speed manual 😆🤘🏼
3rd gens are nice . But not pre emissions hear in California. Hear in California where i live diesel smog starts in 98 so 97 and older are pre emissions.
Just recently getting into trucks. What’s a fair price to pay on 03-06 with a 5.9 and under 200k miles no rust
Auto
These 5.9’s are heading in to a collectability market. It has been pretty obvious looking over the trends these last couple years.
All do respect, I appreciate the truck, just a lot of yapping.. Show us the truck, we see your hands and face more than the truck. Show us the awesome upgraded interior design, how cool you decked it out while your yapping opinion, that's fine.. Cool beans ;)
But we’ll miss the killer neck beard
Say "for the money" one more time, we didn't get it the first 6 times 😂
I paid 32k for mega cab 3rd gen 84k miles has 91k now ..anyways what size are the wheels with tire size I like those for mine
I need them wheels shoot the info lol
I agree probably the best generation they look cool And perform extremely well until the Pitman arm snaps off The previous ones are shipping cratesWhen you order a 5.9 it comes in The dodge Shipping crate previous models so you can put it in something betterJust kidding they're all pretty good trucks Except for the Pittman arm thing Oh and I almost forgot the transmission thing kind of a big deal fourth gens had the asin option but They were absolute 💩s Too complicated always in Limp mode an Allison Or 6 speed Manual With a good clutch It would be a magic thing
Loud n proud Malakai you need Buy 4 Gen Ram 3500 6.7 CumminsTurbo Diesel Do Giveaway on that Truck I love all Ram Truck 1st 2 Gen 3 Gen 5 Gen do not like 4 Gen Truck
Saving up for a 2nd gen or 04-08
I have a 2004.5/ H.O 5.9l. 4x4 Laramie for sale. With over $40,000 in updates. One of a kinda Clean California truck, original owner.
@@miningking70 asking?
Looking to sell an 05
I like the club and quad cabs, way too many crews.
people cant get on the web site to order, call IT
1st gens are selling for insane prices. I spent 5 years trying to get one at a fair price. Ended up spending $20k on a 93 w250 ext cab LE with an NV4500. All original parts, only has 183k miles and needs a little paint work. I only intended it to be a sunday driver, but I've been using it as a daily driver over my 5th gen 2500 lol
2 gen manual transmisión
You need a WIND SOCK!
Were do you live looks like you got Anish neighbors?
Cabs are too small, they rust ridiculously fast, and they’re built super cheap. Say I’m wrong. Fummins ftw!
Don't care about that! Engine and manual transmission is what makes me go!
The paint is terrible with the clear coat. The doors rust out on the bottom. The transmission is weak. The front ends are always needing repairs
plus, it is super easy to get a ton of power out of a 3rd gen with the 5.9l
Saw your comment and it reminded me that I watched your seat swap video about 9 times.
@@Mantis858585 Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching my video!
@Jay Ray thanks for uploading. My wiring ended up being different so had to sit and experiment for a while. Still haven't hooked up the heating and cooling features. :*(
12 valve or 24 valve
24 valve with p pump. :)
Rather see the truck.
I flew half way across the country for my 2006 5.9 Cummins, 6 speed manual, manual 4x4, crewcab longbed.
Most people don't understand. I can hypermile this truck and get 30mpg +
wait huh
Hypermile?
@@nsacco208 look it up. :)
I got a 07 3500 5.9 6 speed manual 3.73 rear and have a real problem getting over 16mpg empty on the highway at 65 and that's tank measurement. Don't want to hear mpg on anything but tank measurement!
Electronics and AC are the worst in these gens. Otherwise, perfect 👌
Once you rebuild the HVAC box with aftermarket doors, the AC is fantastic. Unfortunately you have to remove the dash to rebuild the crappy box. lol. I bought my 06 CTD new and they are going to bury me in it. I’ll keep fixing the crappy interior, but the running gear is fantastic.
had to get rid of my 03 dually, was a 5.9 4x4 nv5600, had way to many retarded electrical gremlins and stupid issues, i loved driving the truck but i think third gens are the worst made dodges out there honestly, they rust worse then second and first gens where i live in canada, pretty much impossible to find one without rust here, plus all the other little stupid issues.
I would get other opinions before taking his word
Another giveaway I won't win
This video could have been edited down to 3 minutes
You sound drunk I buy first gens for 5k
