I understand why the Joker will never be allowed to die in the comics but it is so stupid that everyone usually lets him live. I'm okay that Batman won't kill him due to his no kill rule, or that the state will not due to no death penalty, but are you telling me that no rogue cop or some criminal the Joker wronged has not even attempted to shoot between the eyes?

The suit didn't make Joker capable of going toe to toe with Batman; his own skill did. While Batman is indisputably the superior fighter, he and Joker have had countless fights where the Clown Prince of Crime has gotten some good licks in.
When you think about it: If the superheroes didn't kill the villains but atleast let them die by their own actions, so many people wouldn't have to die because even if the heroes put the villans in jail they would still escape.
On that special day Batman decided he had enough of Joker's "games". Killing Jason, Crippling Barbara, shooting Dick: no more. And Alfred laughing like that is his way of saying: "My boy had the last laugh".
This is actually not the first time Batman has “let joker die” during the No Man’s Land story, Joker kills Gordan’s Wife in a brutal way, and Gordon has Joker on his knees at gunpoint. Batman then says to him that whatever decision he makes, he won’t stop him.
I've always liked this version of "Killing" Batman, not the guns blazing Thomas Wayne type, but the Dark Knight-I won't keep saving you from yourself type.

This is probably one of the best Batman vs Joker storylines. Showing how a hero won, and lost, all at the same time.

I love storylines where Harley is able to break free from Joker's control. I'll always love seeing her in a redemption arc.
