@@goyo_heh Halo Infinite's campaign consists of the Halo CE level "Halo" stretched over 6 hours or so, with occasional Forerunner caves plastered here and there and most of the times those too look the exact same.
At least in Halo CE, almost all of the Forerunner cave section levels were unique, aside from Assault on Control Room and Two Betrayals where you're just going back and forth the same level, but even that feels better since the second time around, you're just trying to fight your way through the Covenant and the Flood.
They have the literal Zeta Halo as the setting, which is very significant in the books regarding the time set before and during the Forerunner-Flood war. And there's absolutely 0 mention of the ancient human tribes living on the surface, the Primordial a.k.a THE proto-proto-Gravemind and finally the Palace of Pain and Mendicant Bias who together with the Primordial ran the Palace.

I've noticed a lot of newer games have higher res textures and better graphics, but the visuals and artstyle are nothing more than flat. Halo Reach IMO had the best visuals and artstyle in the franchise. Halo 3 has the most details in any halo game. I have my issues with the bungie halo games and the 343 games, but Halo infinite looks higher resolution in textures and more polygons yeah, but the artstyle and visuals are just not there at all. It looks like every basic unreal engine 4 game or gimmicky project that has very little to offer in visuals other than high resolution, high poly count and ray tracing. It's a complaint I've had with GOD KNOWS how many ubisoft games in the past 8 or so years, it's plaguing games everywhere. Everyone's so obsessed with high graphical fidelity that visuals and artstyle just aren't there.

Halo is a lot like a divorced couple. At first it was two happy parents (Microsoft and bungie) who loved their child and gave the child everything they could ever dream. One parent gave the child toys and adventures (bungie) while the other funded everything (Microsoft) Then one day, one parent abandoned the family in pursue of a richer partner (bungie to activision). The now alone divorced partner (Microsoft) quickly remarried as an attempt to keep the kid happy because they don’t know how to do it themselves. Only problem is this 2nd parental figure (343i) is some trashy money hungry gold digger who not only pockets the money (Microsoft) gives them to make the kid happy, but also constantly scams the kid to make extra money on the side while (Microsoft) doesn’t really care because now they are making even more money.

The tire tracks don't do that for me, as of now, although there's been a lot of updates since this video was uploaded, and the no body/legs thing is because, any FOV value above the default, disables them, due to a clipping issue that happens, when you look down you look through your character model, this has been an issue since the early flights, in the first flight for Halo Infinite changing the FOV value above the default value, didn't make the legs disappear like that, and instead allowed you to see the clipping issue when you look all the way down, I submitted a ticket, to 343 during that flight, in hopes they would address it, so when the second flight was released, instead of actually fixing the issue, they just covered it up, and disabling the body/legs then the FOV value is set to anything above the default value, I like to play with my FOV set to 90, and yes there's no body/legs for me, I hope they fix it at some point, because Halo: MCC's FOV setting works no problem, and Actually had this same issue, during their PC Flights, and 343 decided to properly fix it on those titles, but not for Halo Infinite not sure why that is, possibly because they keep adding more, and more content, and all the events, I just hope they'll get around to improving the smaller details, because all the small things add up, and help the immersion, and overall visual quality.

Unreal engine is just a very robust engine, with lots of people who know how to use it. It doesn't make sense for a company to build game engines these days, especially if they don't have the same work environment as other engines. It means you can't just hire someone - you have to train literally anyone you hire. So, slows down game development, costs money, it's just overall not a great idea... come to think of it, who complained that Halo shouldn't switch to Unreal who actually understand the industry involved in game development, asset generation, art application, and workflow management? Okay, so...
    Footsteps:
*H3:* Round, for whatever reason? They look like enlarged bullet holes. Maybe that's what they are... Not very sand-looking.
*Infinite:* Lacking depth and doesn't look like sand; but at least it's an actual FOOTprint.
    Bullet Impact:
*H3:* Sand looks very coarse, more like gravel. Barely any dust.
*Infinite:* Looks very dusty and sandy, as it's supposed to. However, particles disappear a little too soon, gives the sand slightly less substance. Only noticeable when REALLY paying attention to it.
    Grenades:
*H3:* Don't bounce off of sand (more realistic), explosion creates more sand and dust, and leaves a clear stain on the ground; but it looks rather unspectacular.
*Infinite:* Do bounce off of sand, makes sense for gameplay reasons and consistency, but not very realistic. Explosion is a lot more spectacular and fitting to the damage it does. Doesn't create a lot of dust during the explosion, but even more so shortly afterwards - something H3 doesn't do at all.
    Warthog:
*H3:* Very little dust, no tire tracks.
*Infinite:* Tires create a lot of dust, as it is fitting for sandy ground. And something's definitely wrong with the video. The tire tracks in Infinite are choppy, yes, but not completely random. They usually even look somewhat good, and unlike in H3; exist!
"A severe downgrade 14 years later" - yeah, no. But alas, as I can see from the comments, if you present the content the right way, people will fall for the misleadings. It may not be an upgrade, but I'll be damned if it ain't at least on par. But hey, putting Infinite in a mildly positive light doesn't bring in any views, eh?

There’s also the fact that there are no legs, the hog has basically no sound, the explosion from the grenade looks like it was added from Microsoft word, the gun on the hog doesn’t sway with the movement, and the fact that the actual graphics look almost exactly the same but with the brightness turned up to 11 even though it’s almost 15 years after h3 and a considerable amount of money was spent on it

I don't think anyone ever complained about "Halo Infinite Warthog gun not swaying", maybe because it's so miniscule noone ever noticed it. Apart from that, as seen in the video, Infinite seems much more saturated that H3, having more contrast and visual clarity.

you can add pictures and clips into Microsoft word btw. You missed the whole point and still didn’t know what you were talking about. And it most certainly does have more contrast, because the brightness is turned up as high as they could get it. It honestly almost hurts to look at the environment in the game because all of the colors stick out instead of looking like a natural blend. That’s the problem. All of that wouldn’t even be too bad if it wasn’t such a terrible obvious cash grab of a game. If it was an indie game it would be more than acceptable. But for something that tens of millions of dollars and nearly 6 years of development went into, it’s absolutely unacceptable.

      @endexe5169 Pƙed rokem +2

@@crimsonlight4205 Jesus dude, I can hear your hair falling out from all that malding. The only valid point is that yes, they could do a workaround to avoid the clipping, but they simply put their priorities elsewhere.
And still, your Microsoft Word analogy makes barely any sense. I don't know why I need to explain this to you, but you can also add pictures from H3 into Word. Wow! So I guess H3 is straight from Microsoft Word, right? Apart from all that - Infinite's grenade explosions look better, and it shows, because "Microsoft Word" was the only counterargument you could find.
And brightness doesn't inherently bring contrast with it - in fact, it reduces contrast. You're mistaking "brightness" for a wider, more dynamic color range. Because that's what Infinite has. And what the hell do you even mean by "sticking out"? You mean the foliage sticking out of the grass? The rocks out of the ground? the trees out of the forest? So another little fun fact for you: when colors "stick out", as you call it, and everything is not one, big blend of a mild arrangement of colors, it's probably to make objects and depths more distinguishable. I've never heard anyone complain about that, but here you are.
Also, the Multiplayer is free, you can play the campaign over gamepass, and overall, you have to spend a laughably low amount of money to have fun hours upon hours with the game; and if you didn't have fun with it, then that's fine! But others do, and if that's a cashgrab to you, then you should probably lay off whatever you're smoking, and pass it to me, cause goddamn that shit must be hitting.

Sadly a common trope in the video game franchise industry. Ive noticed it in the cod franchise too. Older games tended to have more character in their textures and even had specular occlusion (look it up) Even though the graphics were dated, it made up for it in details. Newer games have all the graphics but totally lack the details. The Modern Warfare Remastered games are a good example.
They toned down the jump height, added jumping animations to your guns that make you feel really heavy, added new walk animations that feel crunchy as oppose to the older, smooth swaying walk cycles, added really condensed sounding gun sounds in an attempt to make them sound realistic, and totally changed the way certain guns and animations looked. (Worst offender was the mp5k from mw2 remastered) The result, in my opinion, was a completely different game instead of just a simple touch up on the graphics.

While it is still a downgrade, the reason the character’s legs aren’t appearing is because the FOV has been adjusted higher than the default setting. For some reason that is an issue with Halo Infinite but not the MCC.

I suppose that's the cost of high fidelity, asset detail and frame rate. In addition to developing the game with split-screen in mind regardless of it making it into the final product. Certainly achievable to have all and still have a game that has Halo 3s attention to detail if the development studio in control of the IP wasn't plagued with mismanagement and prone to MS contractor restrictions.

Being fair, the footage we saw of Infinite (at least the warthog driving bit, I didn’t look at the other bits before typing this up) is from 2021, and I wanna say a few of the things were touched up a bit. The Warthog tracks were DEFINITELY touched up since then, they look nice as far as I’ve seen myself. I do miss the minor details Bungie took care to do, and it makes me wonder if 343 **genuinely** doesn’t care about that stuff, if the engine couldn’t handle it, mismanagement of the development, or if they’re just not thinking about that stuff. I suspect a great many of Infinite’s issues have to do with the upper management, and not a lack of creativity from the teams “in the trenches”.

Microsoft/343 management being out of touch with how the rank-and-file workers need to actually LEARN to work with a proprietary engine. It takes time. If MS wants to please their shareholders, give more realistic deadlines so you can have a worthy finished product!

The only good thing about Infinite is the concussive shock front distortion effect when the grenade explodes. But then the explosion itself doesn't displace any sand or scar any of the environment like in Halo 3.
