Most religions teaches a lot of good deeds and to have a good heart. I grew up in a family and community that taught me the value of food, helping one another and not to judge people by their looks without any religion involved. I regard it as basic human decency and that's why I believe it is common for most religions. I also believe that's why I could be taught it without religion being involved.

And why would they give them a fork? They all eat with their hands most of the time anyways, it's not embarassing to eat with your hands in those parts of the world, it's actually the norm. You're looking at this through a western viewpoint. And they did show their geniune reactions to the dish, they are used to a lot of spice and the concept of eating raw fish with nothing but a spicy green paste and some salty brown liquid is disgusting and horrible to them.

@@TheNotoriousJ0B To each their culture. None is difficult. Just goes with what you are used to. E.g, we pretty much eat with our bare fingers for all our meal, mostly made of rice, 'soup', beg and meat. And use spoon and folk for those not finger friendly.
It is proven eating with fingers is more beneficial also but British relatives does on about how knife and fork is the epitome.
Eating with knives and forks is a struggle (not at ease) for the majority of the world population to be fair, given if you minus usa from the top populous, the remaining countries does not share the customs of knife and fork.

But I prefer eating with my hand, other people frown at me, tell me to get a fork or a spoon but why? It tastes better with your hand, my personal choice

The hotter the better best on a traditional roast beef on a Kimmelweck bread roll. Specialty of my childhood hone in Western New York State.
