I love that he came through a genre of music where young people just didn't have this kind of professional lifespan, and 45 years later he sounds as good as ever-no, he sounds better than he ever did. An absolute giant among songwriters who's every bit as important to music today as he was then. As a young musician I loved people who were breakout smash successes, but I've learned to appreciate Elvis's absolute consistency. There are very few with a track record like him-Paul McCartney, maybe, or Mark Knopfler-who have been at it a long time, and are still doing things musically that are every bit as good as when they were at the height of their popularity. Their new stuff never competes on the radio with their "classic stuff," but it's every bit as good, and sometimes better, than the music that made them icons as young people.
I love hearing EC's natural voice, his real voice. We don't all have to sound like some set of parameters defined by someone else. Celia Cruz don't play that way and neither do EC. Loved his music since it first came out. I was 16 and the only "punk" lol in my high school when this thing appeared on the scene. Back when they hadn't yet heard of "new wave".
Saw The Imposters Nov 3 in Chicago. Always fresh, mixing up arrangements of classics and bringing new, interesting songs. Always evolving... what a band, what an artist! This is terrific! How many other songs did they perform in this set?
Great to hear him return to this song, one of my favorites. The slight auto tune on his voice bothers me tho, he's literally one of the best rock singers alive I have no idea why they thought that was necessary

Yes to all of the previous replies, that is Charlie Sexton. When they lined up the US tour in October/November, Steve couldn't make the first few dates due to Covid regulations about people flying into the US. So Charlie Sexton was drafted in for a few dates to fill out the sound, and then they decided that he was a great fit, so he stayed with the band even after Steve could return.
Elvis and Bruce Thomas have been at odds for decades. That is a shame because his bass playing has been sorely missed since All This Useless Beauty in 1996.
