Making the Optical Illusion Leather Wallet (WITH PATTERN!)
We finally got a pattern up! We designed this DIY leather wallet pattern to be made by hand, and have a really funky credit card pocket shape that creates an optical illusion when cards are inserted. We made our sample leather wallet from the pattern with a brown bridle leather, which we cut by hand then saddle stitched together. This wallet's optical illusion is achieved with careful planning in the pattern - we drew out the wallet design on paper, then brought it into Adobe Illustrator to plot it out in a more exact way. When the leather wallet pattern was done, we printed it out onto heavy card stock and got to making!
The best part about this optical illusion leather wallet is that it's got a similar storage capacity to a slim billfold leather wallet. The Optical Illusion wallet can hold 4-6 cards on one side, then holds cash on the other while only having to fold the cash one time. We're a big fan of this design and hope you enjoy making it as well!

Not so much an illusion as cool but slightly confusing pattern in that once you place cards in the wallet, the wallet will expose them with a seemingly overlapping/continuous diagonal line.

I bought the pattern 2 days ago, and have made the wallet. I have not punched the holes or stitched it yet. I noticed you made all the front pockets and punched holes through all the layers, then added the back pocket, which mysteriously was already punched. This makes no sense to me. Did you make a mistake, punching the holes through all the layers except the back pocket, then lined it up and punched it? Because I glued all the layers and it's pretty thick, hoping my punch will make it through all that leather.
