  • Slow Pitch Jigging in Destin FL is on Fire | Offshore Fishing | Scamp Grouper | Red Snapper
    Will, Chris, and myself hit the road at 5am for a road trip to Destin Florida. The purpose of this trip was first to catch fish, second was to check in with one of our favorite dealers “Emerald Coast Bait and Tackle” and third we were invited to present a seminar on slow pitch jigging with emerald coast fishing club.
    Its my understanding that Destin is very well know for there inshore fishery as well as offshore. Capt. Isiah, and Capt. Nick both run inshore charters and say that the fishery is pretty incredible and some of the notable species include redfish, trout, and sheep’s head. Our host for the day is Capt. Josh and his wife Anna. These two have an incredible story of which we will get into. Slow Pitch Jigging is really starting to gain popularity in this area and we felt it was time to head up to the panhandle of Florida and drop some slow pitch jigs.

    Emerald coast bait and tackle is the best tackle shop in the panhandle!

    Some days the vermillion snapper will fill your box. Great eating and beautiful looking fish. Destin is a Gulf location for fisherman where you can be in deep water without burning a tank of fuel to get there. Navarre is another great destination in the area just west of Destin.

      Nobody calls this area lower Alabama except transplants and people from Alabama that wish it was part of their state.

    I am just down the road from you guys [pensacola]. What a beautiful tackle shop! That inventory is spectacular. It is really cool to see the mingos being caught on the slow pitch jigs. Not having to deal with cleaning squid tentacles off the gunnels of the boat is a real bonus.

    You guys need to come back in October & fish the Destin Rodeo.
    You’ll definitely get some great exposure at the daily weigh-ins. You should also consider sponsoring.
    As for Emerald Coast Bait & Tackle, I feel like a kid at Christmas every time I walk through the door
    Josh & the crew are the best; great service & plenty of advice to go with it

    “There’s so many Trigger Fish, “ but Trigger fish has been so restricted that you can only keep ONE and it has to be, 15 INCHES.

    seems odd to fish for grouper in 300ft when season is closed for another couple of days???

    • @JohnnyJigsTV
      @JohnnyJigsTV  Před rokem +1

      Hey John, Grouper does open on the Atlantic May 1st and we are counting down the days. In this video, we are fishing out of Destin Florida. The gulf has different regulations than the Atlantic. I would highly recommend downloading the app fish rules. It is super helpful to stay up to date with regulations and also will update based on your location. Tight lines....Johnny
