Lifelong patriots fan here. Bill did have some to do with the success. But Tom had A LOT to do with the success. Brady took reduced contracts to deepen the depth of the teams. Players came to New England on the cheap to play with Brady to get a chance for a ring they so wanted. And to say the least, Tom was the best at closing out games. That being said, we are back to pre Belichick days
I thought Brady was part of a system. He proved me wrong.

TB12 WAS the system. Certainly for the offense, but Tom’s attitude and professionalism impacted the defense and special teams as well. Truly a great player as he lifted the level of his teammates.
"Without a second head coach as his quarterback," what a great line. Belichick's interpersonal skills suck so hard he needs Brady to actually coach the players at the personal level. Bill always shit on his players to keep their following contract as small as possible. Bill actually thought grunts and insults were a successful coaching style. Not without Brady.

Bill framework works because its Tom Brady. Other players have even mentioned that Bill would berate Tom in front of team meetings. any fan would know nfl players have egos and some are divas. if tom is getting the same treatment as every other player in that locker room, no other player can complain. That is how the culture of "do your job" in the patriots came to be. its the reason why it still worked in the 08 season when he was injured and they had, the culture was already set for some years, and for a couple years after he left the patriots they had something. But the more different players arrived to the patriots and the old ones left. that culture that was once there must have also changed as well.
