    As someone who has been a baseball fan and player for over 30 years, I almost don't believe Shohei Ohtani is a real person. I grew up loving and playing the game all the way to college. I played with and against some people that became pro baseball players. The amount of work that goes into being a big league pitcher is INTENSE. Drills, massages, training, recovery time, it takes a lot out of you to throw a ball as hard as you can for 6-9 innings every 5-7 days. The fact that he goes out, pitches a full game and goes out the very next day to DH and steal bases legitimately doesn't seem real. It doesn't make any sense, if you know baseball. We are all witnessing something happening right now that we at some point in our history collectively decided as a country was not possible at the Major League level. We thought after Babe Ruth that we'd never see anything like that again. But he's here. We are witness. Appreciate this while it's happening, we may very well not see another player like him in our lifetimes.

    The current way the MLB calculates WAR and which stats determines an MVP for a season is not calibrated for a baseball player like Shohei Ohtani (which is okay because he's an extreme minority, a unicorn). However, this man is the most valuable player in the truest sense.

    Never forget MLB robbed Ohtani of his second MVP by deliberately ignoring his achievements and feeding Judge juiced balls. Where's the lawsuit? A league fixing matches is A-OK in the good ol' USA?!

    • @MLB_Daily
      @MLB_Daily Před rokem

      He wasn’t robbed, they never juiced Judge’s balls, it’s that Judge had more achievements and better batting stats, and also contributed more wins to the team, Judge was worth 11 and shohei was worth 8, and don’t say it was because of the bad team around shohei, look at judge, the only protective guy in the lineup for him is rizzo, and maybe Stanton, and shohei has trout, Walsh, fletcher, ward, and rendon when he’s healthy. So stop, get some help.

      @@MLB_Daily Judge has a WAR of 10.6, Ohtani is 9.6. But WAR can’t measure a player like Ohtani. The Angels won 16 games this season with Ohtani pitching (15 w, 1 nd). In those 16 wins, Ohtani had a sub 1 era and 1.3 runs per game. Not a math genius, but that looks like he’s responsible for 16 wins only on games he pitches alone. If anyone watched the whole Angels season, it’s not unreasonable to come to the conclusion that without Ohtani, the Angels lose 100+ games. Sorry, Ohtani is the MVP.

      I disagree. What Ohtani is doing is hard, like really hard. So many things have to go right in order for someone to repeat this that it most likely won’t happen. Let’s not categorize his achievements only to opportunity to play 2 way, he is super special.

    • @hipsig
      @hipsig Před rokem +1

      @@tnleung1 Yes, I partially agree with you there. I don't know if you have access to Japanese TV NHK -- I think they have streaming service -- they had an interview with Ohtani post-season, I think after the world series, where he says when asked about qualifying for both the batting and ERA titles, he says, "In terms of doing both, I personally don't think we need to aim for both. These qualifications are for players who specialize in batting, or specialize in pitching. So I think there can be many different styles of two-way players. I personally don't think there are certain things that you have to do, like you have to do this and that. I wouldn't be surprised to see more styles, like playing as a field player and then pitching as a closer, or playing first base and then pitching as a reliever, and then coming back to first base. So I don't think there's anything that says that you have to qualify for both."

      Yet, Shohei will just keep making and paving the new history of baseball ⚾️ by himself. He doesn't need any validation from those idiots and racists out there. (Meanwhile, someone else like Aron Judge will just keep chasing after the history of the other homerun records.)
