LeGrand is exceptional... Alex provides stella guitar flourishes, but its Victoria's hypnotic vocals, abstract lyrics and synth mastery that drive the Beach House sound. So unique.
Without great songwriting, none of that would matter. His contributions to the masterful songwriting cannot be understated.
Alex without Victoria isn't beach house, Victoria without Alex isn't beach house. They are beach house.

I know they’re pretty beloved w the hip, but BH is maybe the most underrated band of my generation.
This song makes me feel like one would if they succeeded in doing something important and life changing, but gave up something they loved dearly for them to win, only to get to the finish line and realize how big of a mistake they made. that feeling when you win the battle but loose the proverbial war. To get exactly what you want, only to realize it didn't make you happy and wasn't worth the trade.

i once gave away free concert tickets to beach house from my local radio station, all because i had never heard of them and i had to work. i saw them live at Red Rocks Amphitheater with Fleet Foxes as the headliner. probably the best concert i've been to in all my days. Completely changed my perspective on beach house. Love em
