- I've got this mod-chipped Playstation 1 SCPH-5552 Pal version from Ebay. Every boot is occuring the Fearful Harmony with a fully glitched screen that is changing on every boot and then loading the game. The perfect console for me :D

This is literally PlayStation's way of saying, "Hey man, we just registered that the game has been inserted in the console but... NOW WE CAN'T FIND IT! WE'VE EVEN BEEN LOOKING THROUGH THE FILES OF THE CONSOLE!"
(This is practically an SOS call from the console to help look for the game)

@@JackP8414 yeah it pretty much means the playstation knows it's a disc but is really slow at loading it. They playstation logo pops up after the disc is loaded (which you probably know 😅) so think of Fearful Harmony as kinda like Playstation lag, it's taking much longer than usual to read the game

Fearful Harmony:
The PS1 tries to find data on the disk but it can't. So it tries to find data again and again and again. But it doesn't find it but it still tries to find the damn data causes a *lot* of lag. The PS1 ended doing this forever. The sound is actually PS1 startup sound slowed down due to an extreme lag.
In this case, the disc reader might causes the problem. You may have to replace it.

No, it's actually not slowed down at all, it's faster, try it out, the FH begins at 2:04 -> set playback speed to 0,25x, and listen!

@@roselsteffensmeuren5670 It's actually slowed down, due to the hardware lagging out trying to read the disk. This is a problem that can happen if the disk is extremely damaged, to the point of it taking hours to read. It is not the original sound files, as the original boot was 3 sound files compiled into one, just slowed down and pitched by the console at bootup by the BIOS. SCP-5552 takes the appearance of an otherwise inconspicuous Play Station One, by the Sony corporation. The console has a production date of June 6, 1996, however, carbon dating reveals that it has an age of roughly 817,000 years.
When turned on, SCP-5552 will begin to emitt a "shiny and happy" jingle, that has been observed to have a calming, euphoric affect on the victim. However, post-contact examination reveals that, during the encouter, their inner organs were liquified.

it feels like every time the console reads another bit of information it needs to start the game, it advances the song that little bit more.

I know this was scaring people after releasing Windows 95.
Hearing Fearful Harmony before an power outage..it was pretty scary to say the least.
Here’s my theory:
Fearful Harmony is caused when you insert a blank CD into a modchipped console.
The mod chip is telling the PlayStation “This is not an audio CD; therefore it is a game” and the PlayStation is endlessly looking through the CD for a game executable.
If you’ve ever ejected a game disc while it’s playing and re-inserted it, you may have noticed that on some games the game slows down. This is because the initial read of a CD is quite a lot for the PlayStation’s CPU and slows it *way* down.
The PlayStation is endlessly searching for a game executable which is slowing the CPU down; causing Fearful Harmony. The sounds that playing when the PlayStation logo shows is slowed down.
Another theory I have is the reason why the screen gets so messed up. The PlayStation logo, and the 3D model that shows, aren’t contained on the console’s internal BIOS chip but actually on the disc. However, with Fearful Harmony being caused by a blank CD, there’s nothing to display; so it shows the sprites from the console’s internal chip (the Sony Computer Entertainment logo and polygon sprites). This is another factor slowing the CPU down - making Fearful Harmony.

I have an SCPH-5501 which can Fearful Harmony if you disc swap. I tried Spyro and swapped with Roller Coaster Tycoon and got a good classical FH.

Yeah doing the swap trick damages the disk drive. Modchip is better. Also roller coaster tycoon is a pc game and it can cause fearful harmony

This audio file is no accident, in fact it really closely resembles the Normal startup sound of the PS1. It's a series of echoey bells. I think they are both from the same composer. Does anyone know who really created the intro audio for the PlayStation One? I even Emailed Sony about this and they will not reply. I can't find anything about it on the internet.
The song is actually arranged as multitracks that play simultaneously and makes the normal music play, like multitracks for any song in studio. As the PS1 still tries to work as it does in a normal boot, the corruption, lets say, dont let the console do things as smooth as it should, and it messes up the song. There are no 2 startup tracks, just one.
i think the fearful harmony sound is the little bell chimes that come in when the playstation logo comes in. Youll notice that the chime doesnt play when the logo is supposed to come in and instead, the sound is stretched across for however long it plays

Or, the console might be damaged, so it takes 5 minutes to load the disc but the PS1 tries to fast-boot the game, shuffling the game and console files. The FH is also coming from the startup sound (see the video "Playstation 1 startup sound explained")

Secondly for your question, it plays the melody to scare the user which will lead into the user removing the disk. A bad format was able to damage the BIOS or Software installed into PS1 at the time, also there is another comment on my comment which I also think is logical (it can also mean damaged console). I guess thats it.

Object SCP-5552 was however made by the Sony Computer Entertainment, Classified as PlayStation 1, However, when turned on, it makes a low-synth instrumental sound.
However, the object has been investigated further by SCP team and has not harmed beings for the past 25 years.
The object, in 2017/2018, has been discovered to scare beings with errors like Fearful Harmony and Personified Fear by BK4.
It was trying to give an error message saying "No data found, please insert a data disc or check the file with a computer and download the data manually." It instead gives you Fearful Harmony.
And if you insert an SCP-100000 (PlayStation 2 ) disc into SCP-5552, you get Personified Fear.
It tried to ignore the disc or give out an error saying "This disc may not be a PlayStation ® Disc."

The SCP-5552 is a modified PSX 5552 with a installed modchip which makes it unable to regonize regular pc disks or cds instead of giving you "please insert a playstation format disk" it causes the fearful harmony error or if the bios is corrupted, personofied fear. While the regular PSX 5552 can give u FH with disk swapping its highly adviced to stay away there are no reported casualties but we are not safe and further testing with D class personell is required.

If any of you guys have a psx and want to do this, all you have to have to have is an original ps1 game (non-pirated) and a random pc disk. Put your ps1 game into the console and boot it. During the start up, after the triangle animation ends, wait a second and then quickly swap the ps1 disk with the pc disk. You should get the FH. The first fh’s you get won’t be impressive, but every time you unplug the ps1 and plug it back in, the FH will intensify. Take what I say here with a grain of salt, as this could be specific to my model, an scph-1001.
