  • Annie Sloan demonstrates how to use Pearlescent Glaze over Chalk Paint®. In this tutorial she will show how easy it is to apply the glaze directly onto Chalk Paint®, which seals the paint like a varnish as it has hard wearing properties. She also shows you how to apply it with a free Art Deco stencil from The Colourist Issue 3, for a subtle, glamorous look.

Thank you Annie for this beautiful product and great demonstration. I want to antique-glaze a stark white nightstand that has some carved details and then put a coat of pearlescent glaze. Would it be possible to use these products on a store-bought piece of furniture that has no previous chalk paint on?

Why use lacquer and not wax?

Hello Kenan, that is actually a personal preference. Wax is a wonderful and beautiful sealer for Chalk Paint, but some prefer a harder finish, so it depends on what you'd prefer.
