I am too a combat veteran (2 CARS) during the 80's and I struggled after I came out of the corps. I have been married with a girl who is half Ukrainian (mom side) and Russian (dad side) and we have two daughters. I would go back to Russian and establish a small business. Eastern Europeans are welcoming people and due to this present war, there has been too much bloodshed and division. Stay safe! Semper Fidelis!

I agree. I worked as a delivery driver for vending machines about 30 years ago. And one or two clients were middle and high schools in slum neighborhood. I was shocked to see metal detectors there.

Growing up in Czechoslovakia we used to look up to High schools in USA, seeing in movies how it was projected( that is Hollywood for you) and now even with my own experience here in our USA city where High school actually has got a gate with security, real security stop and lock down in off school times. We were so innocent compare to some students of America. But this is probably sort of stories you would hear from your Ksenia. None of us have ever experienced and will never understand the period of Czechoslovak socialism. But witnesses who lived at that time in many cases remember a very good, peaceful and prosperous period. So, the emergence of two "Democratic" states with a new Western culture was a great shock to many people. My generation grew up on American Music, Hollywood movies and the fast food available in our country. But we still partly enjoyed the legacy of the former regime and the social situation. .... The children of the new millennium are different. They also grew up on movies, music, and Western food, but in kindergarten they learn English and German, spend time on social media, and then turn themselves into bloggers or streamers with sometimes dangerous ideas. Everything goes too fast and states like us are losing our identity and ancestral heritage. The whole of North America and Europe are becoming only a hegemonic mass, serving the largest businessmen and corporations in the US. What scares me the most is how this mass is directed towards hatred of our Slavic culture and Russia itself. We were once a united community from the Sea of Japan to the German border. Now we are separated by a new curtain from the barricade of hatred and blood of innocent people. I wish peace, cooperation of peoples and mutual understanding of each other. I grew up in northern California, a different time and place. In reality, a totally different world! As a young kid, we lived on a river where my mother taught me to fish. Then, what is considered middleschool, we moved to a sheep ranch near the coast where my dad taught me to shoot and hunt. High school grounds were not fenced in, nor had any bars on the windows. There were no gangs, but the rural grade school was pretty rough. No weapons, but fist fights were common in grade school. During the fall hunting seasons, nearly every car or truck had a shotgun, rifle, or both in them. No one i knew of had a handgun, though. Seemed like every guy had at least 3 guns: a deer rifle, a shotgun, and a .22 rimfire. No gun crime, except in the big cities, though we country boys were armed "to the teeth" with guns that weren't registered, no background checks, and could be ordered mail-order without identification. A different world!
It was a long time ago. In Russia, during the terrible Stalin and the Gulag, there were no licenses for weapons. Shotguns were sold in grocery stores. Children were given guns for good studies. In Siberia, no one was interested in what was hanging on your shoulder. My great-grandfather brought a rifle from WW1. For 60 years, the rifle hung on the wall and delighted in the forest. After 60 years, he drowned her, because it became illegal.
There is no substitute for seeing a family of siblings & a parent to give you a sense of what it means to be from a subculture of this vast country. We are all the same. Seeing a transition from raw influence from the meanest factors of society to the best the societies of this world has to give, now that is the real story. The whole American subcultures have been dominated by direct evil influence that only the strongest among us survive. So be thankful to God. Because Russia has more to offer in terms of freedom & being a human being without being evaluated like some lab rat waiting to see where you fit in the West. I was like you once growing up in Milwaukee, Chicago, San Antonio, and LA, but after learning of my mother’s people, I've chosen Russia to be my home country. I grew up in northern California, a different time and place. In reality, a totally different world! As a young kid, we lived on a river where my mother taught me to fish. Then, what is considered middleschool, we moved to a sheep ranch near the coast where my dad taught me to shoot and hunt. High school grounds were not fenced in, nor had any bars on the windows. There were no gangs, but the rural grade school was pretty rough. No weapons, but fist fights were common in grade school. During the fall hunting seasons, nearly every car or truck had a shotgun, rifle, or both in them. No one i knew of had a handgun, though. Seemed like every guy had at least 3 guns: a deer rifle, a shotgun, and a .22 rimfire. No gun crime, except in the big cities, though we country boys were armed "to the teeth" with guns that weren't registered, no background checks, and could be ordered mail-order without identification. A different world!

It was a long time ago. In Russia, during the terrible Stalin and the Gulag, there were no licenses for weapons. Shotguns were sold in grocery stores. Children were given guns for good studies. In Siberia, no one was interested in what was hanging on your shoulder. My great-grandfather brought a rifle from WW1. For 60 years, the rifle hung on the wall and delighted in the forest. After 60 years, he drowned her, because it became illegal.
There is no substitute for seeing a family of siblings & a parent to give you a sense of what it means to be from a subculture of this vast country. We are all the same. Seeing a transition from raw influence from the meanest factors of society to the best the societies of this world has to give, now that is the real story. The whole American subcultures have been dominated by direct evil influence that only the strongest among us survive. So be thankful to God. Dan, what came to my mind, there is part of culture, hard one that you, probably, not aware yet, not enough time. But it was a part of school program at 80-s, "Ascent" by Larisa Shepitko. Look at that side when you have time. It's an old movie with english subs on CZcams. Not everyone can survive that one to the end

I'm going to be straight honest with you, Russia is your best bet! Why? Because Russia has more to offer in terms of freedom & being a human being without being evaluated like some lab rat waiting to see where you fit in the West. I was like you once growing up in Milwaukee, Chicago, San Antonio, and LA, but after learning of my mother’s people, I've chosen Russia to be my home country. But I'm happy for you and your future family. Don't forget to visit the Red Square during Christmas, it's truly a magical place and reminds me of the good days as a kid in the '80s.

The US consumes twice as much as it produces, which means that real American wages are only a third of what they are now, the other two thirds the government just prints. It's like taking a loan from the bank to pay off a previous loan and living on that money. It can't go on forever, and sooner or later this system will collapse, but right now it really is the most profitable.

I was in California very recently for the first time ever (Bay Area). There is a stark difference with people's attitude compared to the mid-West and NY. Ironically, I find people from California the coldest and most indifferent tbh.

Hello. Very good content. I enjoyed watching your videos on CZcams. I train at a Soviet/Russia Style boxing in North Hollywood/ Toluca Lake area. One of my teammates who is Russian told me about your channel. My journey into Russia started in summer of 2011 when I was a student at MGU. Moscow State. I been going a lota to Russia ever since. I’m originally from Los Angeles, Huntington Park to be exact . I’m a Army Veteran with a combat deployments to Iraq. Good job in showing what Russia really is.
