  • Wade and Julia Mainer performing a live concert at the Charlotte (MI) Bluegrass Festival in 1989. Mainer, sometimes referred to as the "Grandfather of Bluegrass, pioneered the genre in the early 20th century along with his brother J.E. and ensemble 'Sons of the Mountaineers'. Mainer would return to music after a couple decades hiatus with John Morris and Old Homestead Records. This is one of Wade and Julia's many annual performances at the Charlotte Bluegrass Festival.

    Wade Mainer was playing his music when Bill Monroe was still singing with his brother Charley.
