The main reason mechs are built with fewer joints these days is it’s more important that when a kid sets a mech down, it stands up on its own just like that. More joints means higher chance of it falling, losing pieces, kids crying and parents being reluctant to buy more. Also, that wolf mech was a reuse of a cancelled Nexo Knights baddie, “Malware Wolf,” and seeing now how well it pulls off a quadrupedal stance… yeah, now I HAVE to mod it back into a Nexo Knights build.
Indeed. Kids don’t care about the specifics. They just want something that does the basics. If they did care, they wouldn’t sell action figures with no elbow or knee articulation.

Love the wolf mech. I didn't know it was a repurpose of a nexo knight set (care to share exactly where you got that info from? one of the books maybe?). Still, I love the quadrupedal stance and I don't know for the love of me why they didn't make this mech a separate set so we can mass it. This looks like a great 3x to fight one of the bigger mechs and actually pose a threat.

Just imagine if LEGO released a two-piece variant of the angled joint that actuates on a ratchet. The fixed ones could be used for younger ages, and the pose-able ones for older ages.
Yeah, the Wolf mech was originally designed long ago as a big wolf/werewolf build, which had ideas reused for it

I'm of two minds about these mech designs. On one hand I get that they need to be similar enough that you can mix and match them and they'll still look good, but on the other hand if they had more distinct designs then it wouldn't feel like we're just getting three recolors of the same design. I loved Jay's Titan mech because it had a very different design from the other sets. I wish they took that route here so that each mech had more of its own feel.

That big dragon looks really cool
those Minifigures have so much detail! From the molded texture on the head pieces, shoulder pads, and torso and leg printing, to dual faces, accessories, and dual color moldings, they look awesome and seem like great value-adds for all ages!

Tiny Plants looks like it'll be a fun Christmas build that you can do with friends and family, similar to the Succulent set. The box says 1-3 people, but you could probably use PDF instructions to bypass that and have up to 9 people working together.

Personally would love to see the friends mansion first, however please do give a warning if you're going to spoil the techniques that I really want to experience firsthand with that one!
Also, because of this video I may end up getting Sora's mech after all because it looks a lot better than I thought it would by only looking at the official images. I really like the major sci-fi vibes it gives off with those colors and slick shapes.

honestly i don't mind the overabundance of mechs & dragons in ninjago because usually those mechs and dragons on their own are so hard to dislike. i'm also a bionicle fan so perhaps i'm a little biased lmao

What happened to lloyds mech???
Gonna have to disagree with the battle back being better than the SW one, with the reasoning being what I perceive the purpose of "battle packs" to be: Army-builder sets. As such, I believe it is as ideal as possible for the contents of a battle pack to be as massable as possible -- Repeat figures are fine, ideally these should be soldiers -- what is not great are named characters, and builds associated directly with a specific character. Thus, I would say the Ninjago battle pack is a fail. It has TWO named characters, and a build that is only applicable to one of those characters. If I wanted to use this set to amass an army, I would end up with a ton of Jay mechs, Jays, and Lloyds in addition. On the other hand, the recent (and original) star wars Battle Packs only included troopers, and massable vehicles for those troopers, the ideal content for a battle pack.

As a one of and value wise, the Ninjago one is better any day of the week. For army building purposes, the SW ones are indeed superior!
Regardless I still wish lego star wars could do something like this for such a low price. It just seems like such a complete gift for kids. A mech, 2 cool dudes, and two possibly even cooler bad dudes
Sure, but ignoring the name, the Ninjago set is a much better product. There’s no reason it should be so much more expensive to make a star wars set with mostly identical figs when this ninjago set can have 4 different and well detailed figs for much less

1:54 I disagree - I _totally_ buy the spinner/launcher/whatever gimmick sets for the pieces! When there are cool new minifig molds in Ninjago, the competition sets are often the cheapest way to get them. And they often have really cool parts that are exclusive or nearly-exclusive to them, like the three-ball spinner ring from the last wave. For these, those tail/launcher elements call out to me to be something else, and I’m betting they’ll be the most affordable way (outside of Bricks&Pieces) to get those dual-molded wings.
(I did an awesome Vic Viper using the pointed-dome covers from the Airjitzu flyers of a few years back, and I’m working on a MOC that uses the giant propellers from the Dragon Masters flyers.)
i love Mechs. I love Shinobi (the plural of Ninja, fyi). I love all of these except the Dragon Set.

great dragon build as always, but the molded head really takes away from the overall look. ninjago is being outperformed by monkey kid and even the new auspicious dragon. ninjago needs to go back to brick built heads imo

ironically my favourite build here is the wolf mech rather than any of the main mechs, they're just too generic and overbuilt imo
cole in particular stands out to me as something 'new', and the wolf generals are quite nice as well, but not enough to sell me on any of the sets
i saved up enough money and mum is gonna let me buy this sets :D

Love that LEGO retires sets that are actual incredible and that people would love to get, in favor of producing stuff for itty-bitty babies and over the top Five to Ten hundred dollar sets.
Im ok with them making sets for small children and adults alike, but it seems like they're leaning a bit too far in either direction and completely ignoring the people in-between.
I would have loved to get that one legacy kai's dragon set, the big one that looks sick, but LEGO retired it so now I have to get it from bricklink or amazon and the price is going to go way up.
I get that times are tough for manufacturers but for LEGO, I'm positive people would donate hundreds if not thousands of dollars to help out.
Not the best wave,i’ve never been a fan of the “new” ninjago waves,especially the junior sets,BUT i really like the 6+ junior dragon,not the best build but a good mechanism,it has that bowling mimic

I won’t buy anything until the march sets come out, the sets aren’t great so I’ll see what has exclusive figures and buy those
To be fair the more expensive mechs look quite detailed
My favorite example of this was when Nintendo included the original NES version of Metroid as a reward for beating Zero Mission on the GBA. It felt like such a great little bonus.

Ninjago feels like it’s in a rut. Waves consisting of only mechs dragons, and gimmick sets are getting old. I miss Ninjago legacy
Mechs
I love both Ninjago and mechs, yet in my eyes that's the most disappointing wave in years
The mechs look more like giant suits of armor with no mechanical details and have less of that clunky Ninjago style, that the smaller Evo-mechs had
they're not even that great as action figures with their restricted articulation, I'm fine with the lack of knees, but come on, no elbows or wrists?! Somehow Jay's and Wolf ones are the best in that regard
The new ninja figures with their oversized masks are equally unappealing to me, they resemble samurais mixed with some sort of racing suits, the villains are cool, but there's barely any variety among their ranks
IMO the Master Dragon is probably the best set in terms of build quality, Jay's mech is the best deal and Cole's mech has the best looks since it actually conveys its owner's elemental power well
Overall, I think that the 1st Dragons Rising wave was better in every way, aside from the prices
