Thank you LEGO for sending this set for review. Views and opinions are my own.

To be honest i like the rough look, the smoothness does look nice but after thousands of years the rock sculpture is bound to roughen up a lot and i feel like the multiple types of pieces help represent that.
I totally agree. I feel like the dragon wasn't supposed to be a perfect statue, just that the mountain imitates a dragon. Frankly I don't feel like the statue would be man made, it just coincidently looks like a dragon and as such, I much prefer the rougher look, it feels natural.
@@Obi-Wan_Kenobigeneral kenobi! *coughs*
Definitely agree, i was about to say the same
Its not supposed to form a perfect dragon, its a rock hill with a shape that roughly resembles a dragon from a distance. Square tiles and ingot pieces to break up the shape is exactly right.
Truthly speakig, the most creative and beautiful set for over last 3 years of ninjago
Which one from 4 years ago beats it then? (in your opinion)
I honestly think this is one of the best Ninjago sets we have seen in the past 1 and a half (ish) years. Of course, the Ninjago City Markets is insane, but I feel like Lego's new Dragons Rising sets are just so uncreative. It's the same copy-paste mech, but this is very well thought out. Before The Island/Seabound the sets were absolutely beautiful, they had variation, now it just seems like the same thing..
@@Phoenix-Saikawell, you caught me) Actually, I can't simply choose the only, but in 2020 dangeons season sets were insane. But it doesn't really mean, that this set is less cooler than those ones.
I disagree with you about the dragon- i think it looks absolutely fantastic
Even tho I'm not fan of Ninjago this set is just esthetically wonderful
If it came with the base add-on; I would pay the 120$/€.
Without it... Maybe if it drops to 70.
Youre being a bit harsh, this is one of the best looking sets of the year
Nevermind that have you seen the bloody price?!
@@RegenTonnenEntewell it is Lego 😂😂
That custom display base should come with the set, given how much it enhances the set; without it, $120 is too much for the size of this, and knowing you're paying that much for what's effectively an inferior version spoils it.
Exactly!
Yeah I don't get what they were thinking with that base. It just says "hey not only are some lucky people getting this set for free but they're also getting a better version and we hope that seeing this rubbed in your face will make you go out and spend money on the inferior version. Happy building!"
@@mrsilly6155 haha!
@@mrsilly6155 This comment is just fuckin hilarious 🤣
Haha I was thinking the the same thing. Obviously he didn't intend to do it but he very quickly managed to throw Lego under the bus
1- The price
2- The minifigs that are exclusive to this set aren't that great, plus the other minifigs are in other smaller sets (and they have more accessories in those sets)
3- If they would have just made some sort of baseplate for it, it would have been so much better!
This is the most beautiful set of all the March sets!
Hmmmm..... The Seven Dwarfs house is pretty spectacular I'd say!
@@TiagoCatarinoTotally agree.👍
I really love this set with the base you showed, its all so cohesive
And i also think the roughness of it make it looks more rocky and natural so it suits real good.
In my opinion it looks great!
I think sometimes tiago falls victim to the modern lego designer fear of lego sets that look like lego sets. This looks great.
I wonder if LEGO will make the instructions available to build that base to go with the set, because it for sure looks infinitely better on that base than by itself.
Just submitted the instructions for the baseplate to rebrickable - waiting for approval 😉
I absolutely adoree this set. i think the roughness doesn't matter, the clear shape of a dragon is still maintained, and ofc its going to be rough, its old
As an older Ninjago fan this set speaks to me a lot. I am hoping we maybe see this go forward into maybe dioramas of famous moments from the show
That would be so awesome, I'd love more classic Ninjago sets that celebrate the franchise's past.
I love that this could totally be a display set aswell as a play set, good job LEGO!
Lovely set, they needed to have the custom base as a GWP. I am sure I wouldn't be the only one willing to buy a ton of lego to get that as well.
I love this set! Excellent design, look, secrets!!! It will be my first LEGO Ninjago set that I buy! :) It breaks my heart a little that he doesn't come with that base! Hehe! XD
Is there any way that you can share the instructions for that base?
The custom base looks amazing! I think that if the instructions for it get leaked, it will be a sought after piece to add to the set.
Exactly what kids want in a playset! a giant stone... statue?
Maybe I'll get this on sale some time to build a MOC together with the bonsai tree and Zen garden. I feel like with those sets you would be able to build something quite cool looking!
This is a very cool video! Thank you! 👍👍👍
My guess? Its actuall dragon turned to stone by the master eons ago :)
Uhhh! I like that theory!
Wow I really like this set!
i agree with you on your opinions. i was originally blown away by this set and was considering buying it, but the more i looked at it, the more i saw its flaws. still a great set, just not one ill be picking up.
and i think the first sticker detail is a reference to the temple of airjitsu set from back in 2014 or something like that
This set is one of a kind it does have bad minifig selection but it is beautiful
I don't mind the rough and jagged details at all. I don't think it's supposed to look like real statue, rather it's a mountain that by pure coincidence looks like a dragon. It give the set a mystical vibe, like this is something man didn't make, but rather discovered.
I personally prefer the rough look! the shapes are more interesting to me and it gives it a lot of ancient statue-like character I'd really miss otherwise 💗
The custom base should be included.
Its a beautiful design and set, the roughness you describe just makes the set look more aged which is a great effect.
How can everyone get the base plate like the set should come with
I was about to get my first ever Ninjago set…until I saw the price. Oof. I don’t want the figs and I’m sure that’s one of the biggest factors of the high MSRP
I could careless about ninjago but I will buy this set. I like it
Could’ve used a bit more bright plant green to balance it out
I've been a long SW sets collector for years. But slowly came to Ninjago, as this theme has so much creativity, colourful bui'ds, clever designs and beautiful minifigs. Thumb up for the designers of the theme. This one will come to join the collection one day or another.
Ninjago sets are way cheaper too which is a nice bonus.
Your a lot pickier than me but I’m glad we got a review cause as a ninjago city only collector I’m excited for this set and that base is amazing! Do they have instructions for it? I’d buy the pieces just to build that base for this set
Great video 😊
Is it only just me who sees a wolf io dragon?
I honestly don't mind the greebling haha I like the arm you had as an alternative, but it fits better on a build that isn't a stature imo
It's not a dragon, it's a "human" carving in stone made to look like a dragon.
Also, that sticker with the "location that I don't recognise" is of the Temple of Airjitsu.
Hi Tiago, really appreciate your reviews and content - would be cool to see you make improvements on sets you look at - that costs time though, thanks again
hope they make a third party led lightning set for this set.
I understand what you mean, some parts are rough like a rock, but rough more like parts not blending together, ironically uniform angles when viewing the pieces individually. But for the size its good.
I actually find it really pretty but the price of 125euros seems way too much. It just doesn't feel like 125 euros, barely a 100.
Might be the first Ninjago set I buy, it would look amazing next to the bonsai set
I like the shrine but I think it's definitely too expensive for ninjago set. it should be cheaper or should come with that extra stand as a part of the set for this price.
Master Wu is in the lego set,… DOES THAT MEAN MASTER WU WILL COME BACK!
It’s funny to hear you talking about Ninjago - something I know nothing about - and say all the characters’ names. This must be what my friends feel like when I talk about Babylon 5.
I disagree about the dragon 🙃 It should look rough cause it’s supposed to be a rock that looks like a dragon. Making it smoother would miss the point! :)
Great review! I love this set to the point I was seriously considering getting it until I saw the price - 1580 Norwegian kroner! Hopefully some third party retailer will push the price down somewhat because I’m not paying Lego’s price for this!
Why does every Tiago thumbnail look like the set just told him to STFU?
It's a great set. I will be modifying it a bit to give it a smoother look and teeth for fierceness. The hands need some work as a statue should stand still and not have ball joints.
I think this set is great as a way to create more display pieces for a younger audience. It seems to bridge the gap between the play sets and the 18+ display sets, a little rougher than the latter but still having the minifigures and play features. I could see this pairing great with sets like the bonsai and tranquil garden, especially if ordered the parts to build the base, hopefully parts list and instructions become available for it.
Someone already recreated it and put it on Rebrickable (MOC-174118)
I don't think you are being to harsh, an honest review will include the good and the bad. I know nothing about Ninjago but I've always checked them out, specifically the minifigs. This set may still be of interest to me, but definitely not at its shelf price. Thanks for the review!
please let me know if that display piece for under it will be available as a moc sometime...
its looks great I think! Your arm suggestion, is not an improvement.
This might actually be the first (and likely the only) Ninjago set I'd buy, so maybe that's the point: get new people interested to that particular theme?
How can I get the base? I would like to pay for it.
Im not fan of ninjago, but the set is very beatiful!
So... there are no instructions for making that base? Or are you not allowed to make them public?
Not that I know of! But you could always try to reverse engineer the build!
@@TiagoCatarinohelp the fans out and send Lego an email lol
wow yeah it needed that base
Contrary to a lot of people here, I am a Ninjago fan
and this set is beautiful yes hehe
and nice for minifigure displaying and fun functions
Looks pretty enough to me. On the buylist it goes. hehe
Big fan of ninjago looks awesome will go nice with the garden city's great review 👍
Hi Tiago,
You are a bit hard to this set, in my opinion.
Being a playful set, it is yet amazingly nice and detailed. I've no issue with the "rough" looking of the stone dragon. I didn't even know there was some kind of "living quarters" on the other side (which is a great addition).
This along the hidden features suck as the moving rock and the hidden book make it a very good set !
I guess the number of appearing studs should also be accounted as a good thing as it allows to pose the characters all around the place as if a ninja fight was going on.
The only drawback IMO is the presence of stickers, but that's is to be expected on such a set.
My guess is that at some point Lego will stop using stickers at all, at least on very smooth & flat bricks such as tiles, as they would find an easy (& cheap) way to do it.
(Come on', quantum computing is around the corner and one can basically 3D print in every kind of available materials... cost effective quality long-lasting custom print on flat plastic shouldn't be wizardry anymore !)
Also, the custom display base is a wonderful addition ! it brings the diorama/display feature still with no compromise to the playability.
Do the instruction and part lists for it are to be found online ? (they honestly should)
I’m not a fan of Ninjago but my friend is
I like the concept, but it will need a decent discount. (to create a base from the difference ;-)
I'm going to buy medieval town square and I would like to watch your review!
Coming up next week!
For Ninjago, this is one of the best sets of the theme. I do get your complaints, but this is the first type ofbset of its kin d for Ninjago.
$120 for a set this size is too much, even with the piece count
Let's not forget that this is a stone that looks like a dragon, not a dragon made out of stone.
I really like the set, but the critique is certainly valid.
thank you!
Someone has got to tell this guy how to pronounce Lloyd.
is it me or does it look more like a wolf than a dragon? i still plan to get it, on sale
I was shocked when I heard this was $120. I thought it was gonna be $80, maybe $90.
at 3:00 (3min) it made me think at the temple of airjitsu maybe its this no ?
Yay
I don't really like this set because of its odd composition. The building has no compositional center, the important parts (such as the dragon's head, the battle area and the tree) are on the left and right, while the center is empty. Nevertheless, thanks for the review, Tiago!
Can you do a review of the Ninjago shadow dojo next pls
I will! Probably in two weeks timeb
Lego should have made the baseplate more available
Please review the medieval village
Next week!
Not so expensive.... 🤔 Pc count alone isn't exactly the best way to judge every Lego set...volume also counts and this looks like a totally overpriced one ✌️
bro doesn’t like this set but seriously defended the harry potter hat set (idk the name i don’t watch harry potter)
Europeans acknowledge the hypocrisy of supporting Lego Harry Potter instead of ignoring them (impossible)
Moro is the master of wind how
I want the base of it so badly, I would buy this instantly and I'm not even a ninjago fan
Any exclusive minifigure in this set?
Yes
@@TiagoCatarino which one
Watch the video? 👀
You inspired me to make my own channel I’m 20 videos in now
Thanks count chocula
i disagree, it looks beautiful and the rough look makes sense to me since well, stone and natural shapes tend to not form perfectly
Should be 80 € MSRP. If it drops to like 60 I might buy it, love dragons, and with the baseplate it would look quite awesome.
its cool, but not £105 cool
Idk if this is a bad idea but you should review lego knockoffs 💀
Lloyd is pronounced with the first L silent: loyd or loid not l-loyd
No. It's l-loyd, his father would know best right? czcams.com/users/shortsO9iQX2kiGMU
@@TiagoCatarino HA NO WAY! I stand corrected
😎
I’ll have to disagree the rough look makes it look better imo
Looks like a wolf, not a dragon...
I think it looks great. You are just hard to please as always🙄. Or maybe you're jealous that such a nice model was designed not by you. The rough edges looks good for a rocky feel
Wow, they really should've included the base, it's already an expensive set so the bump in price wouldn't have affected it too much.
Is this really supposed to be a Lego set for kids?
I want to buy this set cuz it look beautiful. But the minifigure in this set not worth spending that much money
I dont like this set. Its what I say Overdesigned. Too much bricks go for texture that IMO make this set messy. It feels like unfinished moc, not a fun playset.
It’s supposed to be messy, it’s a rock formation that vaguely looks like a dragon, not a statue of a dragon
I get it, it stil look unnapealing for my eyes.@@dgripper05
