this sounds very interesting but my biggest concern here is the production and preproduction. EVERYTHING for LOTR was hand made, the armour, the weapons, the sets. absolutely everything. it's what gives the LORT it's most charming aspect and the feel that you're watching something real. If the same effort isn't put in to any upcoming films there's no point making it, nobody wants to watch an all CG AI film. And yes, as much returning cast is needed to make this work.
Nope. Fan fiction. The LOTR appendices are canon. The elves go west, Aragorn is dead, Frodo and Sam go to the undying lands, Legolas and Gimli too. The world of men and our prehistory has begun. There is no space for a return of Morgoth. Film the Silmarillion, that would be magnificent. We can guess the motives for creating non canon movies; wokeness will rule and the memories of the original trilogy will fade. Its destruction of a culture.
The new trilogy sounds very good. I agree that the actors who were in the original trilogy must come back for the new trilogy if at all possible. Obviously some of the actors have died since the original trilogy so recasting in necessary. But I can't see anyone alse as Aragorn or Arwen.
The Children of Huron would probably make for a great film.
Better to pull stories from The Simirilion. Not make up post LotR events.
