  • welcome back :) as you can see we tried taking the boat off the roof, without any thing but heavy duty roof rack bars, we feel we need something else to support the weight off the tinny!
    and we think we have found the solution to this problem, so stay tuned and we will be back with attempt number 2
    also if you guys have any ideas please put it down in the comment section and we will look over it thank you 😊

    Boat hoist sidewinder is your answer guys have a look will fit your roof weight limit too if your tinny is 75kg. I have a y62 also and this is the loader you need.

    Luke. I’m not sure if anyone mentioned this.. You need a tradesman aluminium full roof rack with long rollers at the rear end. Still, you’ll have the issue of the tailgate hitting the rack.

    Get 2 lengths of timber 90x45 that are long enough to run from your roof racks to the ground from the side and attach a steel plate on one end in both bits of timber making sure the plates are small enough to fit in the side slots of your roof racks the you can slide the boat on and off from the side, this is how I take my rooftop tent on and off but the only problem is u will be carrying around 2 timber lengths probs like 3.5 long but if your clever you could cut them in half and attach hinges making it 2 fold out lengths which would be better for carrying on ya trip, dunno if this even made sense just blazed as right now lol but if ya get me it will work trust 😂

    Be careful with strapping it so tight too with massive straps. I've seen welds crack on tinnies from people strapping it like that. To much sideways force. Check out how trip in a van secure their tinny to the roof.

    The magnitude of the oversight must be kicking in now 😅 Everyone throwing ideas around, unfortunately you are no chance of getting that on and off with what you are thinking. Car will be destroyed in no time, fork out big cash on a proper system or just ditch the boat and be on your way.

    Get yourselves a Rhinorack side boat loader, it has telescopic ramps and an inbuilt pulley system witch you operate with a cordless drill 1 person could get your boat on and off easily in a few minutes you can buy them online for roughly $2,000

    • @chats5957
      @chats5957 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Too heavy. The patrol has a 100kg roof load rating. That's on road, less for off-road driving.
      Tinny weighs 80kg, existing roof racks are 12kg. Ratchet straps are probably another 5kg.
      3kg more and the load is over the limit and Nissan warranty is void.

    Not sure if anyone has suggested this but to help those of us aren’t tall try the door latch steps. I have used for a couple of years and it gives you a leg up to access your roof rack.

  • @fox71351
    @fox71351 Před 9 měsíci +3

    Make a rear bar that attaches to your tow bar hitch like a large T and at the top attach rollers and rollers on your roof racks and attach your winch to the front of the boat and then drag it back and rest it on the ground

    • @noahjbarr
      @noahjbarr Před 9 měsíci +2

      Yeah that’s what I thought, because that’s pretty close to how a proper boat loader rack works except for the winch on the rack itself not coming up from the bull (which will be fine if they just have something at the front to protect the bar).

    Wait till U have to put it back on lol
    Can see car damage and lots of screaming. Still don't see the winch helping and the number plate will have to go or be bent to run it over the top.

    Hey bro line the top of the roof racks with boats trailer skids they weigh next to nothing and the boat will slide across it like it’s on a roller.
    Also I have an idea you could make work to load the boat from the rear.
    Me and my mrs lift our 3.5 roof topper on and off this way with no winch. If there is some way I can send it to ya. Best of luck anyways man. Thanks again for the inspo to build our setup.
