the "red demons" are bishops, each has a name that correlates with a Blurryface song. Nico(no specific song), Keons(Heavydirtysoul), Vetemo(lane boy), Sacarver(tear in my heart), Andre (fairly local) Lisden (polarize), Reisdro (doubt), Nills (goner), Listo (Ride). Each bishop represents one of Tyler's insecurities n such. When Nico (the bishop on the white horse) approached tyler he put black oil paint on his neck, which was a reference to tyler wearing black paint on his hands and neck during the BF era. The yellow tape n flowers n such has a whole big representation. Yellow is anti-suicide, but in the trilogy its a safety color. The bishops cannot see the color yellow so the Banditos (the gang of people who rebel against the bishops) wear it to symbolize unity n such. The world is called Trench, and the city is Dema. Whats cool is that apparently theres a WHOLE bible about dema that tyler n others wrote. This world is in tylers mind and he could easily destroy it. If you really wanted to go in depth in the story i suggest checking out the wiki or the official website "dmaorg.org" which has tons of cool stuff including diary entries from a unknown-ish character called Clancy. Tyler went so in depth with this story its insane, and he's even been approached about it being a netflix series lmao. I barely explained the surface of it, so I really do suggest researching it because its wicked cool.

God, I'm filled with joy everytime I see you trying to stan something and someone I love.
In a nutshell: The dark red riding hood is actually Blurryface and he leaves a black mark on Tyler's neck that spreads when Tyler follows Blurryface. So when he runs away and the yellow petals fall down, the black on Tyler's neck dissapears. And Blurryface represents Tyler's depression, so the trilogy is basically him fighting it over and over again. Actually the whole album kinda is.
You should've watched Heavydirtysoul for the burning car to make sence, though.

Just so you know when Tyler was running from Blurryface (red riding hood on the horse) the people on the cliff (the banditos) were throwing the yellow petals because Blurryface and the other 8 bishops cant see yellow (supposedly according to other people) which is why yellow is a sign for hope. Its also why he has yellow flowers in the chest, which i think signifies his failed escapes, and then theres the yellow tape as like a safe guard and ive seen people say that Josh puts the yellow tape over things that are important to him like where it crosses over his heart and where Tylers name is tattooed above his knee

The "I am a vulture who feeds on pain," lyric. It just hit me. It makes more sense now. With that lyric understood all of Levitate makes sense too. That pain he feeds on is recycled into something more beneficial, I guess. It becomes an experience that is learned from, or is used for creation (art being an outlet for emotions), or is used to help someone else in times of struggle. This is amazing. I don't think I've had this many revelations in such a short period of time.

I honest to god could sit and listen to you react to TøP for days. They’re my favourite band (and how I discovered you), and I live for your analyses.
I believe the red-hooded dude is a personification of Tyler’s alter Ego “Blurryface” who is a representation of his mental illness; the version of himself which struggles with severe depression and anxiety amongst other things. I think in Trench, Blurryface is now referred to by the name “Nico” (in the last song on the album titled “morph” he says the line ‘he goes by Nico; he told me I’m a copy’). Throughout his works we kind of get to witness this continuous battle Tyler has with his inner demons, giving this dark side to himself an identity I think helps him to better separate the two versions of himself and prevent this “Blurryface” or”Nico” character from completely consuming him.
Trench is an especially powerful album though, because it’s the first time he’s fighting this demon with a team behind him. And in turn he’s helping us fight ours. I wish I were able to better articulate how truly beautiful his music and his metaphors are, but I simply don’t have the words.
Their music is so, so, so important. He’s able to be open with us about his history with depression and suicidal tendencies through his music and in turn we are able to heal from him, as well as help to heal him.
Please, please consider reacting to more of their music!! And if you’re not up to making vids, I’d still 100000% recommend checking out more of their stuff for your own personal gain. Anyone who has suffered from depression, anxiety, or any kind of dark point in their life has something to gain from listening to them. Some songs I’d rec:
    Truce
    Morph
    Forest
    Goner
    Leave This City
    Lovely
    Migraine
    Kitchen Sink
    Glowing Eyes

You got a lot right, i’m impressed! The dude in the red coat is Blurryface aka nico and the people in yellow are banditos. The basic storyline is that Tyler is trapped in Dema, the city, which is ruled by nine bishops who all represent different things (depression, anxiety, etc). He doesn’t remember anything but “East is up.” The songs are his journey of escaping, and getting to the banditos, who are the rebellion against the bishops. The leader of the bishops is Nico, which is why the song is titled nico and the niners. The vulture is a messenger, which is why it’s on the album cover. you did really well for not knowing anything!

Fun fact: the black on his neck and hands are in reference to blurryface(who can also be interpreted as Nico), who represents his depression and his insecurities. He makes music with his hands and throat. "But you'll have to grab my throat and lift me in the air", and "You'll have to tie me down and then break both my hands". Nico is oppressive, he uses Tyler's insecurities to silence him, but as Tyler said in Lane Boy, he fights his depression with music. Those lines are him saying he will not be silenced, you'd have to kill him first(which, as we know, depression is very capable of doing). Just a few thoughts from my corner!

    2 things:
    1. The crashed car is from the final music video of the Blurryface era, "Heavydirtysoul".
    2. The entire album Trench is supposedly a concept album - with that in mind, the other songs continue the story, even if there are no more videos (which there might be). It might be interesting to get your thoughts on the whole album, honestly, since it's meant to tell a story.

Also, "hell" is Dema, Nico & The Niners are in charge of it, they are bad. There's a whole story/lore with that. That was the order & unfortunately the last video we got. The people - the resistance, are the Banditos. There's a song off the album Trench called Banditos. And yes, you need to keep in mind this is all threaded together for this album. When they escape Dema, they are in Trench, we are in Trench every day battling our demons. The vulture is a symbol. It's a whole thing with the album and you've got a lot of it right on! You can talk about the deeper things, the mental health issues, because that is what they want!

Okay so, this place where Tyler is in, is a fictional city called Dema that basically represents the dark places of Tyler’s mind. The red demon is Nico that is a part of the album storyline, he stops Tyler from getting out of Dema, almost like a new Blurryface and that’s why he’s red, the color of the previous album. There are ten “red demons”, that’s why is Nico and the Niners.
The people with the yellow tape are the Banditos. Josh is their leader, he helped all of the others escape Dema and they help Tyler too! So when you go to the show just know that the Clique fanbase are Banditos too, we escaped and/or are still trying to escape our dark places.

And I debated whether adding this but there are 2 versions of goner. The studio and the original. The original is part of the music video and the studio is on the blurryface album. I feel like you should listen to both because each version gives my different feelings and even though they have the same lyrics the background music changes how I feel about each version and even if you don't show them on video I think you should listen to both (I would love to hear your take on it)

  • @TiffaniWright23
    @TiffaniWright23 Před 4 lety +2

Okay who is ready for a breakdown of Trench! This is all just what I know off the top of my head so I’m sure there are other things I’m missing so feel free to add whatever! Also, you gotta listen to Jumpsuit and then Levitate right after because the two songs have such a seamless transition from one to another. It’s hella cool
Let’s start with Nico and the Niners. Nico is the name of the nine bishops we see in the red hoods. The chief bishop (Nico) is Blurryface and is the disfigured person we see in Jumpsuit. We all know Blurryface is a manifestation of Tyler’s depression and insecurities. Nico’s full name is Nicolas Bourbaki which is a pseudonym for a group of mathematicians in the 1930’s who were rumored to try to prove the existence of God using math. Tyler and Josh don’t shy away from the fact they’re Christian and trying to use math to prove God’s existence kinda defeats the purpose of Faith and Religion.
Dema (Tower of Silence) is the city where the bishops reside and comes from a religion that would dispose of dead bodies by having vultures eat the corpses.
The Banditos are the rebels that reside in the surrounding area of Dema known as Trench. The color of yellow they are cannot been seen by the bishops and they are there to liberate the people in Dema. In the song Bandito the phrase Sahlo Folina is repeated and is used by the Banditos when they are in need of help.
Leave the City is a great conclusion to the album. Tyler talks about at some point he will leave the city(Dema) but until that time he will stay alive and knowing he can look out into the trenches (us in the crowd at concerts) and know he’s not alone. The Skeleton Clique really is a family.
Other great songs to check out not tied to the Trench storyline are Legend (written for Tyler’s grandfather) and Pet Cheetah which is about Tyler being stuck on writing a song and trying to overcome writers block.
Best song on the album for me is Morph
Bill I would love to see you collab someday with other CZcamsrs who review twenty one pilots music! Like the Pop Song Professor or TheThirdErnest ☺️ as a twenty one pilots Stan for 6+ years it fills my heart with so much joy watching these videos

That's the experience of depression, it takes you away in the night, you get mindlessly lulled along for a time before you finally make an effort to break a away, but it's still gonna come for you and you're only gonna escape it for so long. ("Leave the City" is the final song on the "Trench" album and it's not part of the music video trilogy, but I'd either recommend you listen to the whole album or just that song which will add a lot to the whole Tench story. You can also look through the criptic Dma.org website to follow the tie in story of Clancy)

    it's a cycle
it starts on heavydirtysoul, then jumpsuit, natn and levitate
It can be used in various concepts, but basically it's about a city called dema whre there isn't real light and nico who represents his bad side and thoughts, and Tyler had to go out of there with the banditos who uses yellow beacause it's the color the bishops can't see
Trench it's about the journey of jurisdiction, the journey of where your bad thoughts had influence in you and how can you use it for good

  • @aliatbest
    @aliatbest Před 4 lety +1

you watched it in the correct order (we think, there are some theories that nico comes before levitate but idk). also the people with the yellow are called Banditos, they are all the people who are fighting back or rebelling against the red people, aka bishops. the Azkaban is called dema, and yeah, it's pretty much Azkaban except the "prisoners" are kind of brainwashed into believing it's a good place.
if you're interested in the storyline, there's a website called dmaorg that has letters from a character called Clancy, who we don't know much about, but he's one of the people trying to escape dema. he talks about his doubts of escaping and stuff, it's really interesting!!

You're really good at analyzing song meanings! There is another part, there was a prequel in heavydirtysoul which explains the car at the beginning. Also, they released this album after a hiatus and left a bunch of clues alluding to the storyline and the symbolism in all of the videos and lyrics. There are a bunch of videos explaining it, but here's the gist of it.
The man in red is Nico, or Blurryface. You learn about him in the blurry face album, which talks a lot about Tyler's mental health and insecurities. Nico is the head of Dema, which if you look up is essentially a punishment tower, which is fitting because in the trilogy world, these people control the population through insecurities (mental punishments). In previous music videos and live performances you can see that Tyler has black paint on his neck and hands, which he has said represents his insecurity, and in Jumpsuit, we see that Nico (punishment guy) is the one that put them there.
This also explains why Josh and the people in yellow don't go down to help. It's because they can't really do anything to help. The problems Tyler is facing are in his head, and no matter how much other people want to help, it's not up to them. All they can do is throw the yellow flowers as a distraction.
Nico and the Niners can not see yellow. That is why the whole albums theme is yellow, why the jumpsuit has yellow strips, and why yellow flower petals are thrown down to help. The color yellow is protection, and they put it on each other as a way to show that they will do everything they can to help.
And it is a cycle. It's not one that he can really get out of. Mental health is hard to deal with and he repeatedly goes through it, especially when writing about the heavy topics that he does. When he leaves the jumpsuit, it's him trying to give those kids and the people under Dema's control a chance to escape. A chance to not be controlled and consumed by self doubt and insecurity and depression and anxiety like he was.
I can't wait for you to dive deeper into everything, I definitely missed things and didn't explain everything perfect. You'll probably be able to catch things that I would never have noticed. Have fun listening!
