I'm in a similar position... I can only afford to rent a room from apartments and the people I rent from always use "maybe you should find a new place to stay" for anything I do. I really hate the ones that try to hit on me after I move in... it makes me not want to leave my room.... it's gross how people treat others.... I've moved four times in 2023...... I'll have to find a new place come march.... and it's hard to even save up for a car.... it's ridiculous..... they are purposely forcing us into poverty so they can run supreme it's gross and disgusting.... I know of someone whose rent was raised suddenly and he moved onto the street. He went to doctors appointment. When he came back there had been a sweep. His required heat medicine, his cat and everything he owned was gone. He got his cat back as it had ran away. However he was unable to get a refill and died because of stress and lack of medication. They don’t care, just sweep up everything.
No normal person wants to live near trash piles, much less trash in their home or property. The point, though is the fact that rents are so high and there's no end in sight ! We have a permanent housing shortage,which was by design. I'm old enough to remember when there were no homeless people, because rents were abundant and cheap, before 1980. Ultimately,this is what triggered homelessness in the first place. I do wish this woman in the video could have put all her things in storage. And, there's quite a lot of scandalous actions by these fake homeless agencies and shelters. The agencies have been given billions iof dollars, in a few years. Now, where IS that money that is supposed to end homeless camps, by creating affordable housing ??? It's time to audit and prosecute these people who run these agencies ! The woman in the video was lied to by agencies from what one can see here. She was tricked into thinking that the apartment manager or whomever, to out here things on the sidewalk. I would get a group of homeless together and stand in front of the garbage workers, blocking their access to the truck so that they couldn't throw the stuff out.
Oh it’s terrible, I live in New Hampshire and we have campgrounds here that for the longest time people would just live in in RVs or whatever because paying for the camp space was the only thing they could afford on SSI. Then the city started enforcing some code that said you can’t live at campgrounds year-round. So people who had been in their spot for 20 years started getting evicted for a few months out of the year it was insane. I don’t know whatever happened to those people. The section 8 waitlist is closed so I don’t know what help is even offered. Before it was closed it was 5 to 10 years long

There used to be real nonprofits, now they're non profit in name only. You may also be hit with bills from various places. It might not be the time when you're thinking clearly. You might not be able to work for a while. There are a million different things that can happen to you once you're in a situation that you don't see from the outside. It happens a lot. I one day heard an odd, rhythmic sound when I came home from work. I followed the sound down the hall and around the corner to an open door. Several men were "cleaning out" an apartment. Standing just inside the doorway I found the source of the sound. In the galley kitchen to my right one man was emptying a dishwasher into a large garbage bag. The plates happened to be clear glass and I could see the light shine through them just before he dropped each one into the garbage bag. They had all been washed. The impression I got was of a tidy home, dishes cleaned, ready to be put away. Instead, men were clearing the belongings to be thrown away. The noise I had heard was the sound of each plate breaking as it fell into the garbage bag.

Advocate for yourself!!!! I remember when I was homeless and down to only two suitcases. Once I finally swallowed my pride, I was able to get a shelter bed after 6 wks of sleeping sitting up at a drop in for women. There were transgender women and then those that were just acting like they were transgender. The latter were predators... This was just before the homeless issue got out of hand. I am very grateful that someone advised me to move to the city back then. 10 years of bouncing around, being at the mercy of others was hard. I pray she gets that shelter bed and keeps it. It really is a test of character. I learned that I had to march myself to the Social Services to advocate for myself. There are too many people for the volunteers to follow up on.
Thank you. Life is hard and we have to take care of ourselves. The biggest problem nowadays is letting attachments with toxic people hold us back. It’s okay to put your own well-being first and leave the past behind as a lesson and a step up to a better life. Using discernment is a great tool.

I think one of the hardest things is to advocate for yourself and make your own wellbeing a priority if you’ve been raised in an environment that included neglect and taught that to do that was selfish. And I think that is likely to be the case for many people who do become homeless.
My beloved died unexpectedly in his sleep from a massive heart attack. He was my soulmate and soul support. Turning 57 and being evicted same day. Losing everything I own to be homeless but after what I have seen about how the homeless are treated I think it's best to take myself out.

Thank you for the heart to document this. Where I live, just last week two camps were destroyed, right before this winter storm. A local tv channel did a news story about the cleanup cost to the city. That's all. People's bicycles and personal belongings tossed in the dumpster.

The best thing a person can do for a homeless person is give them a cheap used car you don’t need Obviously not everyone can do this etc But living in a cheap car they can store their belongings in the boot /trunk etc and it gives them heat from the heater and keeps them dry and safe because they can lock the doors etc and it makes going grocery shopping easier because they don't have to leave all their belongings outside the store while they buy groceries etc and it gives them the ability to get a good nights sleep which will make them feel much better in themselves And ideally a place to park it overnight
And here's the problem. We've lost our humanity and individuals go along with the corrupt, evil system. "Well, it's my job. It's none of my concern. I've got my own family to feed." Etc, etc. And so those city garbage workers, knowing they were trashing a freshly evicted persons belongings are as guilty as the city politicians.
Evicting the already evicted, again and again. It’s like her very existence is already treated as a crime.

It happens a lot. I one day heard an odd, rhythmic sound when I came home from work. I followed the sound down the hall and around the corner to an open door. Several men were "cleaning out" an apartment. Standing just inside the doorway I found the source of the sound.
In the galley kitchen to my right one man was emptying a dishwasher into a large garbage bag. The plates happened to be clear glass and I could see the light shine through them just before he dropped each one into the garbage bag. They had all been washed. The impression I got was of a tidy home, dishes cleaned, ready to be put away.
Instead, men were clearing the belongings to be thrown away. The noise I had heard was the sound of each plate breaking as it fell into the garbage bag.
It’s there job they job just doing there job
Horrible will be the day of judgement. 🙏

As Christ followers, we know losing everything will humble us, to grow our faith and become those God can use for His purpose. We need to pray for those responsible for taking the things from this lady. Their punishment may not come in this life but I sure hope they turn to Jesus and change their ways so they will not see punishment in the next. 🙏🙂❤️

The freezing polar vortex is coming to Michigan next week I'm scared. My car is 17 years old and I live in a moble home, we get pipes that freeze up in this nasty weather. I hate winter it's very bad and dark most day's depressing

My car is a 07 Impala and 212k miles, some strange buzzing noise under the hood from extreme cold, all stressful. Only crazy people like winter this is horrible. Oh and tell your family member to put a kerosene torpedo heater under the house, moble home whatever they have and it'll fix the frozen pipes. You can rent one from Home depot
I've been thinking about the homeless so much. Like that man said it's all waiting lists. I'm seeing mammas homeless with their kids 😢 Back in Scotland you dont see that. We take great care of our people. Little higher taxes but nothing in comparison to what you pay for health care in the US. My insurance is more than what I got taxed and it supports people. US is corrupted by greed 😢

I watched a video of a man that came here , and he's been here 7 months , staying for free for 7 months in the Roosevelt hotel in NYC ..3 meals a day free for them... free housing , free food. Free phone and given cash money , wtf is going on !!! ??? That US citizens are living on the street and a young MAN who just crossed the border can live better WAYYY better than ppl born here

Advocate for yourself!!!! I remember when I was homeless and down to only two suitcases. Once I finally swallowed my pride, I was able to get a shelter bed after 6 wks of sleeping sitting up at a drop in for women. There were transgender women and then those that were just acting like they were transgender. The latter were predators...
This was just before the homeless issue got out of hand. I am very grateful that someone advised me to move to the city back then. 10 years of bouncing around, being at the mercy of others was hard.
I pray she gets that shelter bed and keeps it. It really is a test of character. I learned that I had to march myself to the Social Services to advocate for myself. There are too many people for the volunteers to follow up on.

Thank you. Life is hard and we have to take care of ourselves. The biggest problem nowadays is letting attachments with toxic people hold us back. It’s okay to put your own well-being first and leave the past behind as a lesson and a step up to a better life. Using discernment is a great tool.

I think one of the hardest things is to advocate for yourself and make your own wellbeing a priority if you’ve been raised in an environment that included neglect and taught that to do that was selfish. And I think that is likely to be the case for many people who do become homeless.

My beloved died unexpectedly in his sleep from a massive heart attack. He was my soulmate and soul support. Turning 57 and being evicted same day. Losing everything I own to be homeless but after what I have seen about how the homeless are treated I think it's best to take myself out.
If the garbage workers had any integrity, they’d refuse to throw their stuff away. “I’m just doing my job” . Yeah, where have we heard that before?

Thank you for the heart to document this. Where I live, just last week two camps were destroyed, right before this winter storm. A local tv channel did a news story about the cleanup cost to the city. That's all. People's bicycles and personal belongings tossed in the dumpster.

I lived in LA in the late 80's, you might see 3-4 homeless people, what happened? Corporate greed, and tax breaks for them, middle class is shrinking into non-existence.
They do this to people all the time. They are treated like dogs as soon as they are down.
California looks like a great place to live..

Welcome to America, where we keep making more homeless people. It’s a billion dollar industry
The best thing a person can do for a homeless person is give them a cheap used car you don’t need
Obviously not everyone can do this etc
But living in a cheap car they can store their belongings in the boot /trunk etc and it gives them heat from the heater and keeps them dry and safe because they can lock the doors etc and it makes going grocery shopping easier because they don't have to leave all their belongings outside the store while they buy groceries etc and it gives them the ability to get a good nights sleep which will make them feel much better in themselves
And ideally a place to park it overnight
Stop waiting for someone to help you. Get out of LA! If you have to walk. Do it. Go home. Call your family if you have a decent one.

Etc, etc. And so those city garbage workers, knowing they were trashing a freshly evicted persons belongings are as guilty as the city politicians.
People with homes harassing those without. America is a strange place.
Allow drug addicts and healthy young people to hit rock bottom so their eventually choose to want a better life and start taking care of themselves.
