You know Rick I thought for sure you were going to say that Mel Blanc did Cousin Itt's voice! It's like what was done on Lost In Space. The actor portraying the character didn't voice the character. I always enjoyed when they would visit Cousin Itt in his bedroom, always funny!
That was what I thought way back when! I'm a little surprised I wasn't right in thinking it was Billy Barty!
Especially when Lurch for some reason would be sent to Cousin It's room him barely being able to move around in Cousin It's room

Cousin itt was my favorite character. When he was on the screen, my baby daughter was scared to come into the room. She would peek around the corner at the television and would only come into the room when cousin itt was gone. That was hilarious.
Felix Silla was also Twiki in the Buck Rogers TV show,the voice was Mel Blanc.
And Felix Silla played an Ewok in Star Wars VI, Return of the Jedi.
Tish Adams was on fire smoking hot ,that waist length hair was absolutely stunning .

@@nancyM1313 Yes, those of some of the better memories of that era of my life. My sister and I were totally into it. We thought the Addams family was the sort of family we wanted. Pugsly would blow up the basement and Gomez would smile and proclaim the boy was going to be a great demolitions engineer some day.
Quite the opposite of our house where every mistake was calamity.

Very interesting Rick. I always wondered who voiced Cousin Itt, though it does make sense that a sound engineer would be the one to provide the voice, considering the fast way Cousin Itt talks.
Yet another great vid to educate me on the classics of old. I would have to say this show is my all time fav comedy and a fun fact is that the higher I got while watching, the more sense cousin Itt seemed to make when speaking.

Addams Family just like The Munsters had some amazing original characters and they will never be duplicated the original actors that played those parts we're just one of a kind with I'm sorry the exception of Marilyn from The Munsters lol although number two was the best Maryland

Great video! I never thought of who voiced cousin itt before. I thought that he was just speaking gibberish quickly. They put a lot of work into these older shows and it shows in the amazing quality. Great job! 😊
Compared to today shows, it’s amazing to me to learn about all of the work and effort that was put in to them by these individuals. Truly remarkable!
@@ricknineg it completely is! Lucie arnaz made a comment about her parents work in an interview. They rehearsed, plotted, and filmed and entire episode in a week, and they didn't have the time to do it wrong. She mentioned nowadays actors spend months making these episodes and back then they didn't have the time to do that.
I think it's remarkable how although we have improved in our filming abilities, these old tricks they used before are still just as magical as before.

Felix Anthony Silla (born Roccacasale, L'Aquila Italy, January 11, 1937), also credited as Felix Cilla, is a retired Italian-born retired American film and television actor and stuntman, known for his recurring role as the costumed character of "Cousin Itt" on television's The Addams Family, with the voice usually provided by Anthony Magro (1923-2004). Silla also appeared in many other classic character roles.[1]

Rick, to me it would make the most sense for the sound engineer to have worked with Felix Sila himself as the voice, subjecting recordings of Silla doing all that stuff the engineer did. Felix already had the right voice for the character. I’ve heard him speak in interviews. However, that bit you related about the engineer’s wife imitating his Cousin Itt voice to him is hilarious.- I could just imagine that in my mind, and I couldn’t stop laughing!

Hi Rick. Great new info. Never knew it was spelled ITT. He really wasn't my favorite and didn't know ITT was played by Felix Sila. Always thought that was a short young teenager in that costume. As for the "voice" I thought it was synthesized like the Chipmunks or The Munchkins from Wizard of Oz.
He was the actor inside the Twicki (sp?) costume on Buck Rogers as well.

Felix Silla went on to play Twiki in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979-1981). His voice was done by Mel Blanc for most of the episodes.

The cousin ITT actor looks like he could’ve been one of the munchkins in the Wizard of Oz the munchkin actors all came from the same Italian town,And they were rumored to carry-on on an offset if you know what I mean

At least one of the Munchkins was from Czechoslovakia: Karl Slover; Bela, Leo, Mike from Hungary; Clarence Swensen from U.S.; Meinhardt Raabe("coroner") from U.S. died 2010 age 95; Jerry Marren of Italian origin is last known living Munchkin died 2018 age 98 in La Jolla, CA. The other myth was that they were loose.
I read credits to movies, TV shows etc and I remember seeing Felix Silla's name listed on Buck Rogers, because Silla played the character Wiggie ( not sure of the spelling).
The reunion special in the 70's Cousin it did sounded completely different than the TV series

Because of Cousin Itt that was my father's nickname for my sister RosAnne as she refused to have her hair cut or trimmed. Eventually she had to have it cut to mid back.
They were the most friendly normal family in the USA .

Excellent video! Answered ?s I’ve had since the series came out... YES! I’m soon turning seventy years old. I felt I belonged there: I grew up in a swamp, had an obituary scrapbook, made a beautiful stocks I built myself out of a hinged old heavy oaken door, and turned my stilts into a guillotine, complete with metal blade. Don’t worry; I mastered the stilts instantly, having an uncanny sense of balance. My only sport 😉. My husband gave me the complete Kooky Collection for Winter Solstice over a decade ago and I still watch one nearly every night. Loved Raoul Julia and Angelica Huston in the movies, but... Carolyn Jones and John Astin will always be Morticia and Gomez to me. and Jackie Coogan and Ted Cassidy as Lurch! Desperately wanted Thing, but the only one I found was cheap and nasty, alas. Kitty was magnificent, and I’ve had cats since I was thirteen; fifteen until a year ago when we lost the last - for now. None as big as Kitty, but a thirty-five lb half bobcat. Can you tell I’m a true fan?!
Felix Silla also played a character named "Litvak" in the film "The Black Bird", which was a take-off of "The Maltese Falcon", with George Seagal playing Sam Spade Jr. It also featured Elisha Cook Jr, who was Wilmer in the ORIGINAL film

The funniest show with Cousin Itt is the one this video takes a lot of stills from where he becomes an actor and Morticia gives him elocution lessons to allow him to speak clearly and he goes absolute top level elitist riding around on his old English sheepdog.

Cousin itt had a different voice in the reunion movie in the 70's
Sila was better known as Twiki on 1980s Scifi series Buck Rogers and it was Mel Blance who did that voice in nearly every episode often lead many to think he did Itt's voice too. One false rumor had Paul Williams the composer/actor as Cousin Itt but it's an urban myth because he was played several characters far younger than he was. Indeed he was the Child Prodigy with a rocket fixation in the underground Cult Hit The Loved One about the funeral industry around the same time as the Addams Family and wrote such mega hits like Evergreen recorded by Barbra Streisand. Williams had an infamous appearance on The Tonight Show in full costume as an Orangutan Virgil while filming Battle for The Planet of the Apes but is deeply embarrassed by it since he was intoxicated and fortunately put those days behind him years later.
I saw that show. He walked onstage, sat down by the desk, and said "This is the result of six months of nothing but banana daiqueries!" Carson was FLOORED
